We were in San Diego for a conference. Although we didn't stay here, the valets were very helpful when we needed a taxi. Steve (or Steven) was especially helpful and polite. The lobby of the hotel was nice and clean.

This was a crazy short overnight trip to San Diego, made shorter by a ER trip! We were in town to see a Padres game (our first), stay the night here, and then explore the gas lamp and Coronado the next day before heading home. We arrived around 130 and dropped our car at the valet - the cost was included with the room (not the tip of course). The lobby was spotless and classy and thankfully we were able to check in early. We had requested it ahead of time but there is no guarantee. The room was nice but was lacking 2 amenities we always use when staying other places: a mini fridge, and a luggage stool/holder. San Diego wasn't that hot so we just dealt with not being able to chill our drinks and also didn't plan on storing left over food that needed a fridge. Not having a luggage holder was a bit annoying, so we improvised and used the desk in the room. Room was clean and stocked with linen, TP and coffee. The view was really nice from our room. You can see the stadium and some points beyond. After the game we made a quick stop back in the room and decided to go up to the roof for a couple drinks at the bar. The view from up there is also AMAZING. We had not drank at the ballgame and only order one drink each. They were strong. lol We fell asleep very quickly after returning to the room. My partner woke up a couple hours later with a severe migraine and was nauseous and puking. This continued all morning. I ordered breakfast for myself and specifically asked for toast and a banana (for partner) and brought it back up to the room. There is no delivery for room service here. When I opened the bag in the room I noticed that they toast wasn't even there. Frankly, I didn't want to make the journey back down nor have the energy to complain at that point, so I tried to get my partner to take a bite of the banana at least. They did, and promptly barfed again. At this point, she was shaking, hands and head getting numb, and couldn't walk or stand to get to the car and be taken to an urgent care. I got on the phone and called downstairs telling them we had an emergency, etc - they called 911 for me and sent a lady up to wait with us in the room. (I'm so sorry I didn't get your name! Thank you for your help!) EMTs arrive and take my poor, embarrassed partner away to a local Kaiser hospital. She even asked if they could take her out a back entrance (there was none lol). The hotel said I could stay as late as I needed to, but I was good and wanted to get checked out before heading to the hospital - so we could just head home after they got the pain, dizziness, nausea and now dehydration under control. I finished packing up, called down to the valet and went downstairs to check out. I miss a personal way of checking out. I like seeing a breakdown of costs and the final bill, but I didn't see a way to check out using the TV, nor was there a paper of any sort given. They just told me I was good to go. :\ The valet had a line of people waiting for keys - I think they were a bit understaffed. The cars were there, just no one handing out keys. My car came around the corner so I caught the valet as he was coming out with my ticket and a nice tip for him and was able to hit the road quickly. We were both bummed as we wanted to try out their breakfast buffet in person but it was not in the cards this trip. Yes, we would stay here again, even with the missing amenities, etc. If you're catching a Padres game its PERFECT to stay at. On a personal note, all is well. ER got the migraine under control after a few hours and we were able to drive home.

Our room had damp floors to the extent that our socks got wet just with walking in the room. We had to spread towels on the floor to be able to walk. We were too tired and exhausted to change into a new room for just one night and so did not take up on their offer to change the room as we had already made one change due to smoky smell in the first room they assigned us. I would still have been fine with this but the service staff attitude was one of doubting you rather than acknowledging, or inspecting for themselves and then solving the issue amicably. I did not feel welcome at all. I chose not to change the room and just asked them to adjust the price which they flatly refused and gave me a 1000 bonus points worth $7. On top of that, the diverter in the bathroom was spitting half of the water in the tub instead of diverting it to the shower giving it extreme low pressure. I will never stay at this Marriott again and would advise you to look out for other nearby hotels, even other Marriotts, but not this one.

The hotel and surroundings are nice. It’s located in a busy street with a modern decor. However the receptionist’s attitude is very questionable. I am a customer from China and a bonvoy member. Marriott has always been my go-to hotel of choice from China to Paris to Singapore. I booked the hotel thru Expedia . I wasn’t feeling so well physically and after a long journey I just want to have a good rest in my “known” hotel of choice. First I was waiting properly in the line and when it was my turn I gave my passport to the receptionist Ara.B. She rudely told me that there’s no reservation under your name, and while I was checking my confirmation email on the side panicking (not blocking the queue), she still asks me to move further away. from that moment I sensed a little bit of hostility towards me (I didn’t know if it was my race or my passport). I made the booking early today with my buddy’s computer so I thought I might book it under his name or had the wrong booking date. I called my buddy when it is already passed midnight and I approached the receptionist meanwhile Ara.B and asked her if the booking name was my buddy Edison or my booking can be some other day. She immediately condescendingly gazed upon me and rudely said said if you booked wrong day you can only contact Expedia (bear that in mind) they can not do anything for me and if it was under another person’s name they couldn’t release that information to a stranger and you won’t be able to check in. It turns out I found it on my phone that my booking was for another day. From the head start I sensed that this lady doesn’t really want me to stay there. She told me my only option is to book it at a walk-in rate which is almost twice as much the rate on Expedia. As I was on the side tried to look for my own hotel. She told me that no hotel takes later than midnight booking. That is so not true because there are many sites that allow you the option to book from now til the same day after midnight. She came around claiming she was helping and me told me that if you go to another hotel you probably just gonna get rejected like here. That she knows the hotels in San Diego well. I then started to question her I had my experience on booking at this hour and if I did have a booking for a different day while did she tell me you don’t have no booking and told me to step aside. Right after these two questions which I asked politely she said I am violating her and asked to leave the property otherwise she’s going to call the security on me 🤨 my defends to her I only expressed my prospective there was no other customers waiting in line no more and I am a incoming customer I shouldn’t be treated and throw out like that. Then she started prevaricating saying that my phone was too far away nobody can see your booking and your booking won’t come through because it’s two weeks away blah blah blah basically to get rid of me of the property . On the way of my kicking-out I told her I won’t cancel my booking on two weeks later I am going to come back on the day of the booking and write honestly about the experience I had here on Expedia Tripadvisor reveal the racist employee and encounter I booked another hotel in San Diego which I was able to check in the same night. Funny enough just as I was getting ready to bed. Expedia sent me a refund notice that the day (august 11th my original booking) I didn’t request a refund has been refunded because I “asked” the property to do so which I never did. This proves two things A, they can cancel it for me upon my request (which means they can’t do anything I have to go through Expedia is another lie) and B, she doesn’t want me to stay there and write my honest experience with her. But I am speaking up as Bonvoy member and loyal customer. I am an incoming UCSD student and my first encounter in the beautiful city of San Diego has been full of racism. I hope Marriott can do better than this.

Stayed for the weekend to attend Comic-Con. We opted for a Junior Suite since we were traveling with our 8 year old. The room is a good size, and had a lovely view of the city. The bed was cozy and everything was very clean . The couch didn't convert to a bed, so they brought a roller bed up for our son and there was plenty of room for it. The staff were all helpful & attentive. The room has this "drink cooler" instead of a fridge-- but ours didn't work (it was warm inside & it created a musty smell, so perhaps ours was out of order?) Parking is valet-only and was $55 for overnight hotel guests (eep!) -- but honestly parking is so impossible in the city during Comic-Con we were just grateful for a guaranteed spot to park. The valet staff were all quick & friendly. They offered to bring our car to us so we could pack our bags into it for the last day convention after we'd checked out. They were very attentive and that made the $55 parking much more worth it! ha The restaurant does room service, which is really refreshing (It's hard to find hotels with room-service since COVID, it seems.) The restaurant had a nice (albiet a bit slow) breakfast & a breakfast buffet available as well. Everything was tasty; our server was wonderful. There's a rooftop bar we didn't head up to, but it had a dedicated elevator that looked pretty popular haha. All-in-all, it was a wonderful home base for the event, and we wished we could have stayed an extra day! We will certainly be returning again.

Me and my friend checked in to this hotel and stayed one night. The room was nice and comfortable, very nice beds! There were some noises from the other rooms and the water pressure in the shower was weak, but except from that nothing else to complain about the room. The problem was the lack of service! The reception staff were unwilling to help us. The woman in the reception had problems splitting the bill separately. Only one of us got a receipt after the transaction, my friend had to wait after checking out to get her receipt. The woman in the reception couldn’t explain how to get to the beach and she neither showed us or gave us a map of the city. She was not helpful at all! So, comfortable rooms but no service whatsoever!

PROS: Location Rooftop bar Friendly staff CONS: Rooms are very dated This was a business trip and hotel is right next to ballpark and plenty of dining. Convention center also nearby. Rooftop bar a nice perk. However, rooms, gym and lobby furniture really need updating. Like many properties, Concierge Lounge was closed. Valet is $55/night, no self-park option.

This was an awesome stay thanks to Bernice, she checked on me throughout my stay ensuring my stay was the best. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The view was great, it’s hard to complain about anything here when Bernice does such a great job for the guests.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June for a work conference that was mostly located at the convention center. This hotel was the perfect location for the convention center and also to Petco Park. This hotel had a rooftop bar overlooking the Petco Park- every night we were there a game was going on, very cool to see from the rooftop. The hotel is not new, but it was very clean, the room was clean and beds were comfortable. The limited staff we encountered were always very nice. We had breakfast 2x in the hotel, typical Marriott buffet, easy and good. We didn't eat anything else in the hotel, apparently room service is still not working. Overall, great hotel and would recommend it.

Jose at the front desk was less than courteous as I approached the front desk. My room was not ready as promised and I asked for a free breakfast. He said NO very emphatically. As a titanium member for years I truly expected a different answer. Oh well I will have to stay at the Marriott Marquis next time. I thought I would Give this hotel a shot at my business, I was incorrect.
