We bought a great deal on TravelZoo and the hotel was able to get our rooms on the same floor near each other and views of PetCo Park. The hotel was in the the midst of Covid but it was clean and classy. We did have trouble getting up to the rooftop deck because the line was too long and the food options were non-existent but besides that it was a great stay, The hotel manager was really nice (Parker) and made sure we were taken care of. Thanks Marriott Gas Lamp!

The gentlemen at the valet were vey helpful when arriving and departing - with our luggage and unloaded and loaded them in the car for us. Went above and beyond. I believe they were named Randall (or Raymond) and Cendric.

We checked in as a family of three. The parking was easy. The check in was done swiftly. The staff was excellent and helped us take our bags to the room. The room had a great view. The shower was not that great since the water pressure was low. We wanted to have some cozy family time and ordered food to the room. Must mention food was too greasy and ended up calling the restaurant again. They were quick to fix it and sent us a fresh order and was sincerely apologetic. We ended up chatting and enjoying the fine view. It was a OK stay.

I was in San Diego for a conference at the convention center and chose to stay at the Marriott Gaslamp. The service alone is worth a stay at this property. Every single hotel employee was welcoming, attentive, and made it an excellent stay. It's in the heart of the gaslamp district, very close to the ballpark (in fact, it appeared that many people did valet here in order to go to the ballpark). Keep in mind it gets really busy in this area during game nights. The rooftop of this hotel is terrific. You get a great view of the ballpark and much of downtown SD. You don't need to be a guest to visit the rooftop, as there is a public bar. However, non hotel guests have a different elevator so that hotel guests do not have to deal with the crowds. The rooms are a bit dated and could use a refresh. I had absolutely no issues with the rooms, though. Very clean, well maintained, and a good amount of space. Typical Marriott beds were comfortable and most of my stay was quiet. You do not get all the noise from the gaslamp, which was nice. The bathrooms are a bit on the small side, but clean. I would also recommend stopping at the hotel restaurant, Soleil @ K for breakfast (excellent breakfast burrito) or lunch or dinner. There are more current Marriott properties in the area, but this property has the best service. I've also stayed at the Marriott Marquis and it did not live up to the hype. If you are debating between the Marquis or the Marriott Gaslamp, choose the gaslamp.
