Stayed here at the beginning of August. Hotel is well placed on the bottom edge of the Gaslamp Quarter in SD, connected to the Padres Stadium. Staff were helpful and friendly. We had a 1 bed suite which was really spacious for a family of 4. For us it was a positive novelty being connected to the baseball stadium and brought a lot of great energy with it. We went to a game whilst we were here too. Property is starting to show some signs of wear and a need of an update - probably 20 years since it was built and due an update. Pool deck is a nice feature and has a good set up. Plenty of room and beds for everyone. Service was a bit patchy at the pool. 2 days it closed early for no apparent reason. 1 day it was functioning like full table service which was great but not like that everyday. Practically, being attached to the stadium is a consideration. Padres played at home every day we we there. All the local roads are shut with limited access and fans everywhere including of course the hotel. Didn't bother us a bit but might be more of an issue for some. The Pendry I think is the place to stay in the Gaslamp Quarter - we couldn't get the rooms we needed but having walked past it a few time - looks terrific…
Walk to the ballpark and many eating joints in the gaslamp district. The hotel is well kept and customer service spot on. We loved the fact that we could open the window and have sort of a mini balcony looking out into the harbour. Ample parking in front of the hotel. Loved the bottled water they gave us as well as the drink coupons. Definitely recommend it.
Stayed at the Omni last month with my family. During the weekend when the Padres played the Phils. We chose the Omni because of the bridge connecting the hotel with the ballpark. I didn't think the extra expense, to stay this close to the ballpark, was worth it. -The double room is small. -The restroom was outdated and dusty. -The bathroom door was a barn door style which meant it barely covered the opening to the bathroom. +The beds were comfortable, even for an adult and a 13 year old sharing the bed. The pool is too small for this big of a hotel. The pool on Saturday afternoon was not kid friendly. Adults with drinks all over the place IN the pool. On Sunday the vibe changed, more families. But again the pool is too small for a luxury hotel like the Omni. That alone is the reason we will never return to this place. The food scene in the hotel is even worse than the pool. The cafe on the ground floor only opens until 2pm. The service at the bar/restaurant on a Saturday afternoon was awful. One server for about 15 tables. We sat at a table for 10 minutes and no one even asked if we had been helped. We got up and left. The Omni has to do better with their dining options. I'd give their dining options a negative number if I could. I don't think having access to a direct entrance to the ballpark is enough to warrant staying at the Omni again. It was a letdown. …
The rooms and whole hotel was clean, great customer service and cleaning services! Pool area was nice with a beautiful patio, gym had a variety of choices and equipment. Hotel café was overall good mainly drinks, service was friendly and helpful. Great location with cvs and other shopping close by.
Came here for 4 nights for my wedding anniversary. After a 11 hour flight I was totally shocked. Opened the fridge to find old dirty items from the previous guest. Eventually got my room swapped, then after unpacking again for the second time I discovered my fridge was working. Went back down a second time to tell them and they said they would change the fridge, I told them to went until I returned later than day as I had lots of valuables on display in my room. Upon arriving back to the hotel and gentlemen informed me they had changed the fridge. My response was why I told you to wait until I returned. I got back to my room to find they hadn’t took the old broken one away but brought in a new fridge and sat it in the corner of the room taking up. The room was dusty and below par. Batteries were not working in the remote control. When paying a premium price for a room, you need to make sure you are offering a premium service. You have ruined my anniversary and contributed to an awful start to my vacation. AVOID!…
I stayed at this hotel for seven days during a recent business trip and it was a very comfortable stay. The hotel restaurants weren't that great but there were plenty of options in the surrounding area which made up for that. It was a quiet hotel and they gave out water at the front desk for guests. I was happy with my overall stay.
The hotel employees were friendly and helpful. I arrived early in the morning and they had a room for me ready at check in. The hotel is safe, clean, and near all the Downtown attractions from Petco (next door), Gas Lamp, and Convention Center.
We had a premium king room on the 20th floor and the view of the bay was wonderful. Our floor was quiet and the room was very comfortable. We were able to walk to the Gaslamp District for dinner (very close by) but the best thing was the Sky Bridge to Petco Park for hotel guests. We have never had such an easy entrance and exit to watch the Padres! We went to 2 games and a Petco Park Tour. The Western Metal Supply Building hosts the Padres fan shop and it is literally across the street. We valeted the car at $55 per night and the valets did a great job. Every employee we encountered was kind and helpful This is the first hotel we have stayed at since Covid that has daily housekeeping service. So nice!
If you are in town for events at Petco Park, the Convention Center or the Gaslamp District, the Omni Hotel is a perfect base for operations. I was able to book a superior king room for ca $300/night and was put into a top-floor (21) corner room that looked over the South Bay through the main windows and over Petco through the bathroom side view windows. Overall, one of the best hotel views I’ve experienced in awhile. Staff service was prompt and pleasant throughout our four night stay. We didn’t have time to use the 6th floor rooftop pool or the exercise room but both looked very nice and well maintained. I would definitely return to the Omni if plans required me to stay downtown in San Diego.
Overall, it was a pretty good trip. Recently stayed over for a solo business trip. Here are my pros and cons Pros - location. Location is pretty good. I also had a room with ocean view. View was fair. There are plenty of things to do nearby, all of which are within walking distance. - conference facility is nice. I enjoyed the conference. Bar was okay. - you can order a get fit kit from front desk, which included a floor mat, a five pound kettlebell, a foam roller and a bottle of water in the gym bag. I put a towel over the floor mat to be clean. It was good to be able to work out in my room. - they still have daily room service. During Covid, most resort has stopped the daily room services. So I was a bit surprised Cons - the pillows are way too soft😅. I slept on pillows and woke up to sheets. Like, what happened to the pillows? - the towels snow…. I wore most black attire at my conference…. So imagine daily morning struggles to unsnow myself….. - the service could be better. The room service was not as thorough. I found hair (not mine) the first night at the shower stall, dust over the bathroom shelves etc…. Could be an issue of lack of resources? - it could be loud at night due to its location - difficult to order room services. There phone seems to suggest you can call concierge or the restaurant directly? Tried a few times… no one picked up… was starving and seeing stars… ended up trying random buttons and found front desk and was able to order room service… I could be a little critical here. But considering how much you pay here…. I am just not sure if I am willing to spend it on my personal trips. This is okay for business trips but it comes with a few issues.…
