Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection takes design cues from San Diego, California's dynamic oceanside location, with lofty ceilings and chandeliers made from reclaimed driftwood. Coastal inspiration continues in our downtown San Diego hotel's guest rooms, furnished in contemporary neutral tones accented by blue tie-dyed pillows. With a convenient address in the heart of the city’s social hub, travelers enjoy quick access to the historic 16-block Gaslamp Quarter, trendy Little Italy, the San Diego Bay, the ballpark and the San Diego Convention Center. All of this is taken in from our hotel’s stylish rooftop lounge, where craft cocktails and light fare pair with breathtaking city and ocean views.

I travel a lot so I know what a good hotel is. This IS a great hotel. The design is unique and not the cookie cutter so see of so many properties today. I booked one of the corner rooms and was so happy with it. Plenty of space for my stay. The staff were excellent! The bed was comfy. I got a great night sleep (even as a light sleeper) and was rested for my next day. Area is excellent as you can walk to a ton of restaurants and bars or the waterfront. I will return for sure.

The Hotel Republic of San Diego provided me with the best hotel experience I've ever had in my entire life!! I called in to Josh, Rooms Director there, letting him know I was planning to propose to my girlfriend. He asked questions and overall was so caring of my situation. He let his staff know what was going on and they all coordinated with me to make my dinner proposal at TopSide, there rooftop restaurant, an absolutely wonderful, romantic, and surprising proposal! on top of that, Josh surprised me by upgrading me and my now fiancé to the presidential suite!!! This was the room you only see in the movies!! It brought my fiancé to tears because my family came in to decorate the room with flowers!!! We were so overwhelmed!! Thank you Josh and the entire staff at the Hotel Republic for blessing us with such an amazing experience and giving us the VIP treatment!!! 5/5 stars for this hotel I Highly Recommend it!!! Also Great location for visitors, your a scooter ride away from anything you want to do and see. . Other than the zoo maybe lol great views, amazing restaurants, drinks, and of course the beautiful ocean

We stayed 4 nights in a corner suite and loved our experience. The room was nicely appointed with a great rain shower. We had free WiFi, although some room levels charge for it. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The lobby was warm, although you had to wear a mask, so we didn’t spend a lot of time there. The location is great. It’s near Little Italy, Gas Lamp, and the pier. Of course, California has the dreaded parking charges. They have a deal with Ace for $35 per night. It’s also very close.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Republic for one night (9/5/2020). It was Labor Day weekend so it was very busy, much more busy than I would have expected during a pandemic. The hotel lobby was beautiful. The staff was very friendly, but we were not able to check in right away. We did get to San Diego a couple hours early, so I wasn’t surprised when they told me my room wasn’t ready. I expected to have to wait, so this was not a problem. They took down my phone number and let me know they would contact me when the room was ready. We went off and killed time in San Diego, but it was taking several hours. It was a couple hours after check in time and we still had not gotten a call. We decided to go back to the hotel and find out if our room was ready since we had a dinner reservation and needed to shower/change soon. When we asked the front desk they told us that the girl who prechecked us in had left off a number on my phone number, so they could not reach us. I was pretty upset because I feel like they could have contacted me via email. Once we checked in the room was very nice and the rest of our short stay was pleasant, but the check in process did really have a negative effect on our trip. The hotel would have gotten 5 stars from me if it wasn’t for this! I would probably stay again, but I would definitely check in later or make sure they have my correct FULL phone number.

PROS: — Excellent location; walking distance to the water front and the Gaslamp; short drive to Little Italy, Balboa Park, North Park, etc. — Staff were very friendly and helpful CONS: — Maybe it was the weekend we visited, but it seemed to attract a party crowd; the hallway near the elevators reeked of marijuana. We came in one night from dinner and passed a girl tottering on high heels with a sangria in hand on her way out slurring “Best hotel evahhhh!” — Thin walls. You can hear everybody walking up and down the hall/talking, and we could hear EVERY (ahem) detail of the couple in the room next door’s nighttime intimacies. — Parking is a little weird. No garage in the hotel itself — you have to park one of two outdoor pay lots adjacent to the hotel. If you’re worried about leaving your car out in downtown SD overnight, this is definitely not the spot for you.

Good Evening Rob, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and our staff gave you the warm California welcome we are known for! I apologize that the noise level and unruliness of fellow guests effected your stay and have passed your feedback on to the proper channels to ensure that we can learn from these types of situations during these unprecedented times. We hope to see you the next time your travels bring you back to San Diego!
