Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection takes design cues from San Diego, California's dynamic oceanside location, with lofty ceilings and chandeliers made from reclaimed driftwood. Coastal inspiration continues in our downtown San Diego hotel's guest rooms, furnished in contemporary neutral tones accented by blue tie-dyed pillows. With a convenient address in the heart of the city’s social hub, travelers enjoy quick access to the historic 16-block Gaslamp Quarter, trendy Little Italy, the San Diego Bay, the ballpark and the San Diego Convention Center. All of this is taken in from our hotel’s stylish rooftop lounge, where craft cocktails and light fare pair with breathtaking city and ocean views.

I used to live in San Diego and came back to visit for 2 days. I knew a lot of the hotels in the area but hadn't stayed at Hotel Republic. My boyfriend and I wanted to pick a location that was in the perfect walking location to Little Italy and could easily walk or take a 3 min Uber ride downtown. The location was great a little quieter than downtown and we could watch the planes come in from our room. The boutique style of Hotel Republic was trendy and modern and had a great rooftop bar with socially distanced tables to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines. The staff was so friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home so after 2 relaxing nights we decided to stay 1 more night; and they were so easy to accommodate the request. Our room was very spacious, clean and had a big bathroom, we could have stayed a week and felt comfortable. I know some people are hesitant to travel right now but with the precautions and cleaning in place at Hotel Republic you couldn't be safer. Thank you so much for a much needed relaxing stay and memorable vacation! Definitely a highlight of 2020.

Hotel Republic is in a great location. We spent a lot of time in Little Italy which is a few minutes walking distance. The lobby is very chic and trendy looking. The rooftop terrace is heated and a great place to have drinks and eat. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They take every precaution during the pandemic.

Based on the way I feel this morning, I was tempted to give the hotel 1 star, but decided that wasn't fair since some people might enjoy sleeping on a bed as hard as concrete. I have traveled for 30 years and this bed was worse than any I can remember- and that includes some in third world countries. The pillows were also hard. I spent the night tossing and turning not able to get comfortable. This morning I feel unrested and my body is stiff- it's how I feel when I go camping. Having said that- there are things I like about the hotel. It's cute and boutique style. The front desk staff were efficient and friendly. I had dinner in the roof top lounge and it was a very good experience, though the prices were high. The bill was $38 for a burger and one glass of red wine- before tip. My room is fine, but sparsely decorated- I guess minimalist style. There is no color- it's all beige. The amenities are also sparse- no water or coffee in the room. They also do not have room service right now because of Covid, so I guess I have to either get dressed at 6am and scrounge around for coffee, or just wait until I check out. Really- I think the hotel should invest in some coffee makers. The bathroom is fine, but small. OK for one person at a time. The shower is a walk in type which I like, but it features the half glass door; meaning there is really no door. I'm not sure why hotels are using this style as it make taking a shower very drafty and chilly. So if the bed had been a comfy pillow top bed with down pillows I probably would have given this hotel 4 stars. I know it's enough to keep me from every staying here again.

I travel a lot so I know what a good hotel is. This IS a great hotel. The design is unique and not the cookie cutter so see of so many properties today. I booked one of the corner rooms and was so happy with it. Plenty of space for my stay. The staff were excellent! The bed was comfy. I got a great night sleep (even as a light sleeper) and was rested for my next day. Area is excellent as you can walk to a ton of restaurants and bars or the waterfront. I will return for sure.

The Hotel Republic of San Diego provided me with the best hotel experience I've ever had in my entire life!! I called in to Josh, Rooms Director there, letting him know I was planning to propose to my girlfriend. He asked questions and overall was so caring of my situation. He let his staff know what was going on and they all coordinated with me to make my dinner proposal at TopSide, there rooftop restaurant, an absolutely wonderful, romantic, and surprising proposal! on top of that, Josh surprised me by upgrading me and my now fiancé to the presidential suite!!! This was the room you only see in the movies!! It brought my fiancé to tears because my family came in to decorate the room with flowers!!! We were so overwhelmed!! Thank you Josh and the entire staff at the Hotel Republic for blessing us with such an amazing experience and giving us the VIP treatment!!! 5/5 stars for this hotel I Highly Recommend it!!! Also Great location for visitors, your a scooter ride away from anything you want to do and see. . Other than the zoo maybe lol great views, amazing restaurants, drinks, and of course the beautiful ocean
