This was my first time at this hotel — I had a very nice girl, Abby, at the reception desk check me in — she asked if I would like to spend an additional $20.00 per night to have a room with a balcony. I said yes. When I saw my room, I literally started laughing when I saw the balcony — not even big enough to put a chair out there and only one person could even comfortably stand out there - not to mention, it’s just plain ugly (see photo). The bed was definitely comfortable enough but the comforter on the bed seemed to have a lot of lumps in it — luckily the mattress was fine. My sister and brother-in-law arrived later that day - I met them at check-in and they, too, were offered a room with a balcony for an additional $20 per day. They agreed. When they got to their room, however, this sign was on their balcony door (see photo) — Additionally, when we knew that our cousin had probably arrived at the hotel, my sister asked the hotel operator, or whoever answered the phone if they would connect her to his room - she used his name. She was asked, ‘What room is he in?’ She replied that she didn’t know yet what room he was in but she had his name. The operator refused to connect her to his room without knowing the room number. She then asked that person if she (the operator) would then please call him and tell him to call her — the operator refused to do that as well. My sister wrote about this when the hotel sent a “we hope you’re having a nice stay” email. I will give them credit, however — when we checked out, after mentioning the sign that shut them out of their balcony, they were told they wouldn’t be charged. And, later that day, they did get an actual phone call from the hotel apologizing for the operator’s exchange about our cousin with the promise to look into the situation. With so many hotel options, I hope they get some of that stuff straightened out as we all, cousin included, probably won’t be back.

Awesome staff and great pool. For sure family friendly. One thing is this hotel is ready for an update all around. The hallways and rooms are smelly but it’s all carpet. The bed linens had stains and I asked for trash service which we got then I saw her set it in the front of the elevator and let someone else deal with it. I could have done that myself.

This hotel is fine for a quick stay. Comfortable beds and the location is good. Parking is difficult (very tight ramp) and is expensive. Front desk staff is hit or miss - some very helpful and kind, others not so much. We had an instance where front desk staff had us come down to the lobby for extra towels instead of having housekeeping deliver them. Not what I’d wanted when I was in my pajamas ready to shower. Maintenance and housekeeping clearly inconsistent - one room the bathroom door broken, one room the floor was wet, one room the tub was full of water and the sink sprayed everywhere.

This is a really lovely hotel. Very good, large rooms & bathrooms with good facilities. Close to the restaurants in Little Italy and the waterfront. Very good restaurant on site. Swimming pool with plenty of loungers and towels for which there is no charge. Look forward to returning in the future 😊

This hotel needs some love and attention. My room 415 seemed to be updated but my co-worker complained her room smelled awful and the carpet was frayed etc. They do have an early check-in fee of $25. Staff is friendly. Piped in scent in the lobby is too strong. Restaurant is not great. We had a meeting here. Grand View Ballroom is an odd shape and hard to have a classroom seating. Mike worked very hard to make it work for us! We had 100 people and that was about as much as they can do comfortably in a classroom style. Food service people tried to make a small space work for a lunch buffet. Really odd location but I think it was for the convention center about a mile or so away.

The pillows were soft but more than that for the very first time we had enough of them (6) as we tend to sleep in an almost sitting position. The bed was comfortable and we were very pleased to have Ac that was cold enough. I loved that they replenished the shampoo, etc in the bathroom in FULL sized bottles not dinky little travel sized one. We stayed for two weeks and absolute loved the cookies we got at front desk. The staff at the front desk MUST be commended for their kindness, friendliness and absolute hard work. Nothing we asked for was ever too hard for them. They were so sweet and kind, especially Jade. We were there for Thanksgiving and to visit family. The staff at Doubletree made us FEEL like family. Really superb customer service. We asked for a delayed checkout which was granted. The pool and hot tub were outstanding. This was truly a trip we will remember not just because San Diego was beautiful but for the friendliness and kindness we received from perfect strangers. Truly a trip to remember. We would love to return again

Our room was on the top floor. The moment we got out of the lift and entered the hallway on our floor a pungent musty odour associated with mould was present. Our room had the same dreadful odour. It stank. The room was very dated. The walls were marked all over. The carpet was threadbare. The room was dirty. The air conditioning was making a high pitched noise. The maintenance guy came to fix it and pulled off a vent from the wall to access the air conditioning unit. That revealed an old corroded and extremely dirty air conditioning unit in the wall. It was filthy. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I could not stay is such a dreadful hotel with my family. I immediately cancelled my booking for the rest of the week and checked out. I was charged for one night’s accommodation even though I did not even stay a single night. I asked for a full refund. I was told that was not possible. I left a message with reception for the manager to call me to discuss my request. I never received a call from the manager. It was a dreadful experience staying in this hotel. It is run down, dirty and smelly. I was extremely disappointed and upset. The only positive was that I was able to find alternate accommodation in a nice clean hotel in a far superior location.
