The property was average. It was also in the middle of renovations and staff updates. So, I don’t know if it is a fair review of what to expect for future visits. Staff were all friendly. They didn’t go out of their way to leave a lasting impression, but I have no complaints. They kept the place running. However, I would expect that when guests are inconvenienced by staying in the middle of a renovation project, the hotel would go out of its way to make up for the inconveniences that go with it. Room rates were on par with everything else in the Gaslamp Quarter, but I didn’t have access to a restaurant or bar, didn’t have a room service menu in my room, dealt with renovation noise daily, and it took 10 minutes for the water in the shower to get warm. I complained about the hot water and a front desk staff old me there was nothing that could be done. The only place to use my F&B credit was at the small shop in the lobby. It had the basics of a mini-mart, but I would prefer to have a sit down dining experience. I even went to the desk at checkout to break a large bill to tip the housekeeper and valet and the front desk didn’t have cash to make change. It felt like no one was actually considering guest experience. As much as I’m sure management was focused on renovations, guest experience seemed to be on autopilot. The hotel is in a great spot. The renovated areas look great. The staff is friendly. I’m hoping customer experience becomes a focus area for management after renovations are complete. To be honest, it would take a really good deal to get me back to this hotel in future visits to San Diego to see if customer experience improves. I’m not sure I would risk standard rates for the area to test it out.

This property is located at the south end of Gaslamp and really close to the stadium. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are a number of unique features - the outdoor space protected from the street, the moveable wall to the pool, and the views - that really enhanced our visit. Next time we head to Gaslamp, we'll be back.

It was in disarray- no food or room service and the mattresses were awful. It’s very outdated snd the lobby was under construction so no bar and no food. We were there for a trade show and we were looking forward to a better experience.

Decent hotel for business. Clean but nothing special. Across the street from the convention center so location is nice but otherwise just fine. Gym is clean but small. Two treadmills aren’t enough! Easy checkin and close to restaurants in the area.

Great location, in walking distance of downtown which has a lot of restaurants and bars for daytime and night life. Staff was very accommodating and the location was clean and the perfect balance of quiet and lively. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely not a 4 star hotel, I've had nicer experiences at the average La Quinta Inn. Overpriced parking ($55/night), and they charged me for in-room water when I went out of my way to 1. Never touch it to avoid charges, and 2. Left a tip for room service, which apparently wasn't enough for them to want more? Wi-Fi was terrible and inconsistent, as was cell service in my room. Low quality mattress. And the Gaslamp is not a great part of town. That's not to mention the renovations happening all day, which I can totally understand and forgive. But I was in a "newly renovated" room, and the only thing that let me know it was new was the overwhelming paint smell. I was here for a corporate event. If you're planning your own corporate event, please spare your team the two-star experience and stay in mission beach instead.

I chose this hotel because it was hosting the half-marathon I trained for. I booked on the later side and was surprised I still got a room. Our kids decided to join us at the last minute and the hotel staff were great about switching our room at the last minute- through the app! I was able to basically text and get what I needed. We got a freshly renovated room and it was beautiful. The carpet was clean and plush. All the furniture was new and the bathroom was great - it even had a tub. It even had a bit of a view from the mini-balcony. Parking was a challenge, but overall it was a great and convenient stay.

I am currently staying at the hotel and feel the need to write this review. I traveled to San Diego for business and chose Hilton since I am a diamond member (no upgrade, but does that even happen anymore?). I booked it through my company's travel website and there was no notification of the renovations. Four days prior to my arrival, I get an email from the manager letting me know of the renovations and that they are making efforts to minimize the disruption. Upon arrival yesterday there is a note in my room that the water will be shut off from 10am to 2pm in the main building (where I'm staying) the next day. Unfortunately, I was planning to go to the gym at 10am, shower, and head a client lunch, but none of that is possible because the hotel will have no water. Is this horrible? No. But as a business traveler these are inconveniences that I shouldn't have to deal with when paying $300+ a night (with a $25/night resort fee on top of that). I'm guessing this will be a fine place to stay once the renos are done, but that's not for a few months.

First, we want to thank you for being a valued Diamond member; we appreciate your loyalty. While we understand the perks that come along with us, they are subject to availability at the time of check-in, and we apologize for any disappointment in this respect. That said, though we are currently making improvements to our facility, we never want to inconvenience our current guests and regret that you felt this way. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this exciting time for our hotel, and we hope that you return to enjoy our improvements once our projects are complete!

The hotels was been under construction and made the place dusty, the floors were uneven in the lobby. Causing for my suitcase to tip over and tripped me, and all the luggage that I had. at no time did the staff tried to help me. The lobby was also dusty and particles of construction on floor. When going to my room I noticed when stopping on certain floors, the construction workers would get in and so would the dust. Bathroom in the lobby area were locked no ice or vending machine on the floor that I was staying on. The $30 breakfast buffet was substandard and the hilton using powdered eggs they were runny, bacon was either overcook or undercooked and greasy, pancakes, edges, or hard. I wouldn’t ever eat there again for a Hilton. Construction workers were using machines in the lobby that was blowing dust all over the lobby. At no time did the staff try to pardon or excuse The Hilton for the mess or the inconvenience for the construction worker making a mess. I would like a refund in the pints I used to stay there if I would have know it was that bad I would look for accommodations elsewhere.
