It the midst of a global pandemic, this hotel refuses to provide a refund or even respond with an email signed by a real person -- just a one sentence response saying there's nothing they can do. Shocking predatory business practices like this shouldn't be allowed and I guess I'll be filing a complaint with California's attorney general.

RAMADA the most excellent, clean, well organized, and economical rooms with fast internet. The staff are professional and customer friendly. Very close to conventional center and most centrist places in Down town. No hidden charges. I will come back again.

Retro-fabulous hotel in a great location in the Gaslamp Quarter. This is not your typical Ramada, very historic and unique. As a solo traveller for one night I was immediately impressed by the lobby and how friendly the gentlemen at the front desk were. I was brought up to Room 606 via a very small vintage elevator (complete with gate!) which I'll admit made me think of horror movies and a tad claustrophobic. I chose to take the stairs the next few times, #1 what a workout 20 steps plus landing per floor; #2 tricky to find the continuation of the staircase as the doors are not labelled;) Room was basic and open concept, very cold upon entry. Sink and counter in the main room, bathroom was simply a toilet in a closet which I was shocked by but I had to laugh. I must have missed the fine print about there being no shower or bath tub. Oh well. They ask you to sign a disclaimer regarding noise as this hotel is in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter (restaurants and nightlife) and is extremely loud all night long. I sleep with earplugs so I wasn't bothered. Room was a challenge to keep a good temperature, started out freezing, ended up too hot. Wish they offered an airport shuttle like the other Ramadas, Lyft was $15 USD.

Pros: Location is in the heart of downtown Front staff desk was nice My bed was really comfortable Wifi free Small back staircase up half a floor was nice architecture Price Cons: Bathroom looked pretty dirty from stains I had a couple tiny bugs crawling on my laptop screen Housekeeping started banging on doors at 715, which woke me up and I thought that was too early Overall, this hotel was worth its price for location, desk staff and bed alone, but beware of third party sites that say it's 3 stars. I've stayed in nicer motels, to be frank. That's not necessary this hotels fault, though. Overall, unlike most places in this location, it is a place to stay that wont break the bank and allows access to all downtown attractions.

I have been staying here for trips to San Diego - it is well priced and convenient walking distance to the Convention Center and DTSD. Just know its old or as I say, historic, and has a few quirks. But otherwise its clean & rooms are appointed with everything I need and staff is helpful. Also FYI parkign is $42/night - park down the street for less.
