While Nirvana created the grunge sound out of Seattle, which was really good music, this place has preserved the grunge from a "historic" hotel. That's not cool! The staff are nice as if to overcompensate for what they know to be a very run-down place. I've stayed in historic hotels in downtowns before that are exceptional -- The Phillips Hotel...

I was not sure quite what to expect when we checked into this hotel, but it is located in a vibrant section of downtown in San Diego. The hotel had the old world charm about it and the employees at the front desk all of the way to the shuttle driver were exceptional. This hotel has some cool rooms. We...

Helpful front desk. I liked the fact they had an airport shuttle. This is a much older hotel with a very archaic elevator (though I found it interesting to operate). We only stayed here because our flight got cancelled. Don't think I would stay here otherwise especially with young kids.

The accomodations gave you a real feel of the Gaslamp District! Loved the antique elevators! Everything is walking distance. The hotel runnerss did a great job with parking & retrieving your car....have not ever seen such efficient parking valet work in such a congeted area!....KUDOS. The rates were a bit pricey but it is the GASLAMP afterall!

This hotel is in an excellent location, however we were in a room (714) facing a very large vent coming from the 24hour restaurant downstairs! The noise coming from this can only be described as a helicopter flying overhead. Staff were very unhelpful with his matter, initially saying it was because we were staying in the gaslamp district as they...
