This is 5 motels Holiday inn bought together and tried to make something out of it. Seen many Holiday inn this one tops bottom. First room they gave me is motel 6 style. Just stairs and room smelled like they kept 10 dogs in room night before. Room looked like the 80s. New renovated room was given at other side of complex. Repark car and with no signs to follow good look finding rooms 21xx. Room was supposed to have been renovated. Think this was only the carpet that was changed. For the few hrs of sleep ok but will not go back here.
Hotel was perfect for our stay in San Diego. Nicely located with Little Italy around the corner and other areas very walkable. Loved the view from our room. Staff were exceptional, both very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Grace Gerzen to helping us with our booking and while we were staying, much appreciated.
I don’t know what kind of bed/bedding they use but it was by far the most comfortable I’ve slept in. I’d love to purchase it for my home. We went for a quick weekend trip for SeaWorld and a concert at the pechanga arena. Just perfect for what we needed even though it rained.
Stayed in the new section Very large room with a comfortable King bed. Very nice shower. Good wifi. Free shuttle to and from the airport. Good food for dinner in the bar. Large property, nice place to stay.
Very nice and affordable accommodations. Bright and sunny rooms with a distinct view of the bay. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and responsive. Met or exceeded all our expectations for a moderately priced hotel. Highly recommend.
This was a business trip so I was not too concerned with the finer things. If I had booked this for a family trip then I would be concerned that I could of gone somewhere better for the price. The rooms in the annex are outdated and you have constant noise from 2 sides of the highway (from your front door and the balcony side). My room wasn't cleaned for 3 days until I "reserved" a day to cleaning. Having said that, the pool was a welcome break and the grounds overlooking the "condo" type room were pleasant. The reception staff were attentive and polite. I had breakfast ($30 voucher) in the nearby cafe. The menu is typical American (fried food or waffles) and the service is slow due to being busy. The staff were 50% rude as they didn't speak english. Uber trips from the hotel to Seaworld (£12) and downtown (£17) were all good and the boardwalk restaurants and wildlife are a must to see which are just over the highway from the hotel (The seals, pelicans and heron are always on form and there is a bustle of fishing going and coming back from their trips). Opposite the hotel is a US Navy base which sounds "Reveille" and "sunset" everyday if your alarm fails. Overall, nicely placed for north or south San D travel but super disappointed in the quality of the building for the price.…
We were a family of Five (5) Two Adults and Three Girls (6,7,9) that booked this location before and after a Disney Cruise, due to the fact that they provided Shuttle service to an from the Airport and Cruise Ship. We stayed the night before the departure, and were booked into the New Building ( which now houses the front desk) and is about 5 stories ..... We stayed on a Saturday Night and the Room price with Taxes were $303 for the night. The room was nice and on the 2nd Floor, however the Shower had little to no water pressure, and only a shower, no tub. When called the front desk the response was "yeah, we know, sorry" .... We picked this hotel, as they offered free shuttle service to the Cruise ports (Disney Wonder) and with Three Girls under 10, we thought this would be the best option, even though they total charge was $300 a night on Saturday. When we checked in inquired about the Shuttle to the Cruise port and the lady (girl) behind the counter advised that no reservations were needed and that it ran about every hour, just come to the lobby when ready to go. The next morning as we went to Breakfast i inquired again for the ties of the Cruise Port shuttles and was informed that they only ran twice one at 10:00 and one at 11:00, and that we had to sign up, fortunately there was still room available on the 11:00 for us. We ate Breakfast at the Point Loma Cafe which is on-site the following morning, if staying at the Hotel the kids eat free, and we had a very nice waitress and the food was good, then we took advantage of the free shuttle service (glad we checked) to the cruise port. When we arrived back contacted the Holiday Inn and the driver arrived and picked us up within 15 minutes to go back to the hotel, as we had booked a second night upon return, before flying home. The second night's stay was paid with Frequent Traveler points from Holiday Inn of 26,000 points, instead of the about $200 a night. However when we arrived back after the week on the ship, instead of being put into the new five story building as we had the week before, they put us in Bldg "E" Room 138, which had a musty smell to it, the door opened to the street, and we found out the Hot Water didn't work at all, and the Air Conditioner was on in the room when we arrived and the temperature was 62 degree's, we changed the temperature control to 78 to warm the room up, however after 2 1/2 hrs the temperature only climbed to 64. Called the front desk, who advised they would send someone to look at the Hot Water, but after Two hours, decided to walk back to the front desk and spoke to one of the ladies, who advised that they could not move our room, instead facilities looked at the room first, after advising of both problems and that we had Three Young girls under 9, she found a room on the "A" Bldg, which was nice and suited our needs .... Overall i was highly disappointed with this Holiday Inn location, after spending $300 a night, and basically no water pressure to take a shower, and then come back a week later and pay with Holiday Inn points and be put into a run down and broken room, was not what we were expecting .... Was very disappointed in the overall experience ....…
The price seemed right for our first time visit to San Diego...the location was perfect. Don't be fooled by the photos; the front desk area was NOT the building with our room. Our room was down the street with the doors on the outside (big red flag). When my mom/I opened our room there was a maintenance guy sitting in a chair??!! (yet our room was ready?) He stated he was checking the A/C. The room had an odor; musty and old. I tried taking a shower that night only to find out the hot/cold water were switched. In the end, I ran my oil diffuser to get rid of the smell, the A/C worked just fine and the location was still perfect. I would loved to have stayed in the building where the front desk is!
I recently had an interaction with a person named Keith who claimed to be “the manager”. I stay it between 50 and 100 hotels around the world per year as a business traveler. In my 40 years as a Business traveler I have never had an exchange with any member of any hotel staff member that even closely compared to the level of unprofessional, inappropriate and aggressive behavior and tone that this person had with me. It was disgusting. He was beyond rude and even became threatening. I have stayed at that hotel each year for an annual fishing trip for well over a decade and have always found the staff there to be pleasant and the accommodations pleasant and clean. Things have obviously changed at this property. My experience with Keith and his arrogant and strident approach has me questioning if I will ever stay at one of their properties again. I would strongly recommend against supporting an establishment that thinks so little of their guests to speak to them in this manner. Old saying”the fish stinks from the head”; if the manager is any indication of the way this hotel is being run now, this would be a good place to avoid on all counts.AWFUL!.…
Pool is nice and restaurant is cute. Room was clean but corridors were dirty and doors haven’t been cleaned in a long time. Furniture in rooms is frayed. Non stop opening and closing of doors on our floor and walls are thin. If you aren’t a heavy sleeper be prepared to be awake all night. Parking lot is a maze. Hotel is on a busy street. I usually research hotels before staying and I made the mistake of staying here on a whim. It’s pretty bad.
