Highly recommend for families. The staff was amazing, the location was perfect, the restaurant food was great. We did a lot of off site activities but on our next visit will plan for a few days at the hotel because there is just so much to do!

Hotel's Favorite
We live in Dana Point and love to drive an hour south to enjoy this property. If you have young kids this is the easiest getaway! The pool with plenty of waterside seating, the cozy cabanas, Splash area, and fun poolside activities make this a relaxing and fun getaway where Mom and Dad don’t have to entertain all day. The property also has easy access to a beach on the bay where you can rent paddle boards, pontoon boats, wave runners, etc. we ate numerous meals at the restaurant and pool and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. If you want a bayside getaway with family... look no further.

The location of this property was perfect as it was right off the I5. We enjoyed the beachfront location and the pools were great. Weather was terrible in May, but we enjoyed our stay regardless. Rich was a great bartender and Katie was a super knowledgeable and helpful concierge.

This resort needs a major overhaul on staff and training on what customer satisfaction service is all about. We had multiple issues one that what is the last straw was the poor attitude of the GM Also we were baffled on how they reused our bed sheets that were on the floor didn’t pick up the room nor vacuumed when we took it up with the GM he basically said it is what it is

I had the best experience at the Spa, the Himalayan Salt table was super special and Cheri was probably the best massage therapist I have had the pleasure of having a massage with. She is very knowledgeable about salt crystals and highly experienced in massage therapy. I highly recommend Cheri!

Location was cool, pool was nice & staff was friendly. The rooms were old with a stale smell that had been very cheaply renovated. The pictures are not a great depiction of what you get unfortunately. Paid for a water view and was not worth it as we were in the building furthest from the water. Price is too high for the room conditions. (Think cracking water damaged baseboards and painted over door hinges) Food was great and the staff were awesome other than having to call several times for towels. Just manage your expectations for room quality.

The difference between a good vacation and a great vacation is the culture and attitude of the staff where you are staying, and everyone at Mission Bay Resort brings their A-game. Everyone was so friendly and service-oriented, and it really made a huge positive impression on us. This includes but is not limited to people like Arcelio and Artie at the front desk and Dorothy and Lorena in the retail shop, huge shout outs to Alex A, the best bell attendant ever, and Brandon H at the pool! And lets not forget Roy Scott at Covewood restaurant. All of you folks went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and comfortable, and we really appreciated it! The resort is attractive, clean, and fun. There are lots of games and activities spread out around the resort, giant checkers and chess, foozball, cornhole, you name it, and sporting equipment available for rent for both land and sea. Live music at night, movie night, and smores night on the weekends. The resort is well situated to be close to tourist attractions like Liberty Station and all the museums in the Balboa area, Sea World, the Birch Aquarium, and of course the San Diego Zoo. Check out the Ghosts and Gravestones tour in Old Town (not affiliated with the resort) for some fun and interesting history. The food and drink at Covewood restaurant and the bars were top notch, with a well thought-out menu featuring interesting flavor profiles, whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating are available with a number of firepits near both the restaurant and the pool area. The pool and cabana area was a paradise, although it would be nice if there were more than two smaller size jacuzzis for the amount of people that were sometimes present. As a whole we were very satisfied and would love to visit again.

For the price that we paid, this place was such a let down. First the room was big which was nice,, but it was dirty with dust very where and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The bed was hard and pillows were not comfortable. The service was lacking but the staff was friendly. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone for the price you have to pay.
