Welcome to the Inn at Sunset Cliffs located in historical Point Loma, California. We are one of only a few San Diego hotels truly located on the Pacific Ocean, just steps away from Ocean Beach, with Sea World just a few minutes drive. Originally built in the 1950's, remodeled several times between now and then, thus creating a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere to accommodate any San Diego visitor. No other San Diego hotel offers a view as breathtaking as from our spacious terrace overlooking the Cliffs, Ocean Beach and as far as La Jolla. The Inn at Sunset Cliffs is truly one of the only San Diego beach hotels that is actually a waterfront hotel. Oceanfront suites with the sea breeze just outside your door. Sea World is just a few minutes from us! Sunset Cliffs creates scenic atmospheres all year long, with million-dollar views everyday. Being a quiet privately owned San Diego hotel, we support our locals and want to help our community. San Diego Beaches are near, being just a few blocks away from us. Experience the great San Diego surfing with an awesome location to scope where to ride for your session just a few steps away from your room. Wake up to the sounds of the waves crashing onto our property. Look out at the Pacific Ocean to see the beauty San Diego has to offer. When you feel like relaxing, our ocean view terrace allows you to view out over the horizon of the Pacific Ocean. Kick your feet up and let the waves take you away...

I’m not one to write a review (good or bad) but this Hotel is deserving of one. The ocean view from our windows (kitchen & bedroom) was incredible and the waves were our sound machine at night! The kitchen had all the needed amenities including a full size fridge. The bathroom had a large shower with multiple shower heads. Nice size bedroom with a comfortable bed. The staff were always friendly and gave us some good places to visit. The free parking is a major bonus! This Hotel will be our go to place when in town to visit our family and friends.

Hotel's Favorite
this Inn has great location along the cliffs and is beautiful and special. It is lovely and small with a nice pool and beautiful comfortable outdoor seating overlooking the ocean. The staff is lovely and helpful. We had one of the two ocean facing rooms, and that was a treat. However, the room is quite small for two people with barely any storage, so it gets tight for more than a couple of nights. The “couch” in the room isn’t even a love seat, it’s a chair that takes up a huge amount of space and seats one. There is only one nightstand and barely any surfaces in either the bedroom or bath. The bed is comfortable but VERY high. The small bathroom has a nice shower with two heads but if you have bad knees beware the toilet is very low.

My fiancé and I got married at the Inn at Sunset Cliffs this past weekend. The location here is unbeatable- the proximity to the ocean, walkability, and vintage charm make this place so special. Staff are kind and helpful, rooms are clean and updated. Comfortable beds, good amenities. This is not a resort- so don’t expect generic commercial features, it has character and resides in a neighborhood. Pool is awesome, landscaping is gorgeous, and the sunsets are magical. Hands down the best kept secret spot in San Diego.

After a disagreement with a friend I found myself stuck in Ocean Beach with no where to go except the airport. I decided to try this hotel and hope for the best. Omg. It was better than I could ever expect. Since my room wasn't ready and the staff knew my circumstance, I was given the suite. This place is not only spotless but just lovely. The sound of the ocean pounding on the cliffs was incredible. The pool was sparkling clean. The management were the nicest of people. I spent 2 days and was more saddened by the fact I had to leave the motel than I was about my former friend. If in OB this is where you want to stay.

Dirty room, very small beds and the couch is old and disgusting. The pictures on the homepage are so much nicer than in real life. The guy at the reception was really nice and tried his best to make up for dirty sheets. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beautiful views! Short walk for food and more beautiful scenery! Loved to sit out on the patio and watch/listen to the ocean and watch the surfers. Would love if the lower patio was repaired/opened. We would definitely stay here again!!!!!

The views there are spectacular! The staff members are always professional, kind, and accommodating. The bed is so comfortable. I love the dual head shower. The rooms are updated and comfortable. It’s my favorite place to stay in San Diego! The sound of the ocean hitting the cliffs is so relaxing. It’s also in a convenient location.

Amazing views but the property is old and tired. Rooms smell of age.Housekeeping was terrible. Left the room at 9:00am and didn't have the room cleaned until 4:00pm. There are no amenities on the property for the price of the room we had.

This place has potential because it’s a beautiful location and while it’s old the room renovations make the place a little better. I strongly question the management of this hotel. First, both of the 2 days I stayed here I had to ask them to turn on the hot water. If that wasn’t bad enough they are doing construction and they started working between 6:30-7:00 AM. It just shows a lack of respect for your guests. Overall, the price is not worth it and you would be better off staying at someplace like the Hilton where you get a more professional treatment.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, we discovered a maintenance emergency and only had so much time to fix and remedy the situation. There are no excuses for the properties emergency maintenance that needed to be done. We do sincerely apologize for the noise being made and will gladly compensate you for your troubles if you'd like to contact us directly. Thank you for your time. We do believe you'll experience something much different and enjoy the property as we are known for our tranquility at the hotel.

The place is much smaller than it appears in the pictures. And it is not family friendly as there are no elevators, stroller ramps or kiddie pool. The rooms/suites are dated and very basic - floor is creaky, space is cramped and bath and closets are really small. The WiFi did not work the whole time we were there and while they offered to refund us some money for that, they ultimately did not. The TV did not work at first but the front desk guy fixed it for us. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy (liquor store across the street) and there are no grocery stores/restaurants at walking distance. Their backside deck which overlooks the cliffs is closed due to water damage. They charge a premium for the place (we paid $300+ per night), which is totally not worth what they offer. The price is supposedly for location and views, but with the deck closed, and grocery stores/restaurants not close by, that’s not a good deal. On the plus side, the place was very clean and the staff was courteous and responsive. They have a poolside area with tables and chairs that has good views if you want to sit outside and snack/enjoy the sun. To conclude, this is a fine place to crash with friends if you are looking to spend limited time indoors, but not a place to stay with family.
