We stayed in Room 209 for 3 nights - two bedrooms, a small bathroom, and a sitting area. The room was very clean and the space was large enough to be relaxing. The views from this hotel are amazing, and there are plenty of places to sit and watch the sunset. Parking was easy and free, with a small lot on hotel property and street parking nearby. This hotel is good for families, groups, and couples, but the noise from the swimming pool carries, so expect to hear a lot of that if you are around during pool hours. We would definitely return if vacationing in the area.
My husband and I are local San Diegans and were looking for a relaxing weekend get-a-way. The Inn at Sunset Cliffs was the perfect place! We felt far away from home even though we were only 20 minutes away. We enjoyed watching the waves as we enjoyed a drink by the pool. We took a ride in the golf cart along Sunset Cliffs and Trent told us interesting facts that we had never heard before. He dropped us off downtown OB so we could catch happy hour. The hotel is in a great location. Not far from OB but far enough to be calm and quiet. The views are amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back.
This is a cute boutique type hotel right at the ocean, with beautiful flowers and friendly staff. The room was the smallest room I have ever had, but there was enough storage for one person. The floor made my feet very dirty if I walked barefoot and part of the floor was falling apart. The metal ceiling light fixtures were rusty, as well as one of the bedside lamps and hinges in the bathroom door. The bed creaked and was very hard and uncomfortable.
We stayed in the king suite, facing the ocean during my college graduation weekend. Trent, the front desk attendant was kind enough to put up a "Congratulations" banner over our door to celebrate the occasion, in addition to providing us a number of awesome tips for restaurants and activities throughout the city. Definitely will be staying here again!
The Pros: Great location as it is close to a lot, plus they offer a golf cart to the Beach. They have a small pool and a patio area to view the ocean cliffs. The rooms are nice and the kitchen (full) was well stocked with about everything you would need. The office staff are great and very friendly. If you need any extra items they are very accommodating. Very short walk to the Cliff overlook where we saw at least 2 Weddings in 3 days. You can also see and hear the fireworks from Sea World every night. The rooms and kitchen were clean and a family of 6 could easily be happy with the accommodations. The Cons: No elevator for elderly or handicapped. (I traveled with my mother who was in a wheelchair with limited walking. The stairs were very hard for her and they did not have a ground floor room available for us even though I asked for one early in my reservation). One bathroom for 4 adults and no laundry on site. The golf cart was not available during our stay as it only ran Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on the Friday we would of used it they did not have staff to provide the service so we had to drive to the Beach and pray for a parking spot. The mattress is a spring mattress so not the most comfortable bed. The patio in the pictures on the website is no longer there. 1/2 the patio is now in the sea. They only have the upper area by the pool and no access allowed below due to safety. Sitting to view the ocean is limited because of that. They said it happened about 2 years ago, yet no mention of this on the website. The person I talked to said they plan on extending the upper patio. (may be a few years), The view is very nice and we enjoyed sitting and watching the ocean but note this is not by a beach or beach access, it is on a Cliff as the title says. Parking is also premium. Only a few spots on the side of the building or street parking. Simply put not enough parking spots for how many rooms are available. Though you may think my Cons out weigh my Pros I think this hotel would be perfect for most couples and families.…
