My wife has a life time membership with Hostelling International & this was my very first time at a Hostel. I can see why the Point Loma Hostel is rated so highly. Very comfortable beds, very friendly people & the staff were fantastic. They even have a hammock & a ping pong table in their Court Yard area. See pic's.... More

I have stayed at Point Loma's Hosteling International several times over the past 5 years and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly, the facilities are updated as needed, the beds are comfortable (the sheets are so soft!), the rooms and bathrooms are clean, the courtyard with its hammock, fire pit and ping pong table are inviting and the... This hostel is a bit better than the one downtown. I have yet to understand why I was charged more than what the price was on the hostel sites. Telling me that the prices change every minute is bologny. Breakfast was free pancakes previously made (and burned), so they weren't warm/hot, but you can use the microwave. One of the... More

Our stay at HI point loma was expected to be pleasant as we have grown accustomed to the HI standard, even still we were overjoyed by the services during our stay here. From the breakfast selection of fresh pancakes, granola, mango and almond milk to enjoying BBQs we felt that the kitchen was well equipped and organised. It was a... More

Out of the fifteen places I stayed on this seven week 6000 mile driving trip through the West the Hostelling International Point Loma Hostel is far and away the best. For $31-$39 a night (depending on how busy they are) you get a bunk, all you can make and eat pancake breakfast, a great international crowd to hang out with... More

The stuff was very friendly and helpful, they were able to give us all information we needed. One evening there were free snacks and the chance to meet other people and get in contact. We also did the pub crowl which was offered by the hostel, it was very nice and funny. The room was okay and the bathroom renovated... More

Great location, 20 mins walk from ocean beach, friendly staff, nice big kitchen and lots of indoor and outdoor space to relax, plus a hammock. Bike rentals are discounted to $12 a day which is great to explore. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy too.

I am not one to write a bad review but... I'm not sure wether hosteling is different in the U.S. or as there are not many hostels they are run differently in America but it felt like we where in a strict, depressing (bad quality) college dorm, we cut our stay short and left this hostel. It sounded promising from... More

The location is great because is not far away from the beach and downtown is not far either. Staff is really nice. We got a private room its was really nice, super clean and smelled good, beds are comfortable, good spacing, showers and restrooms were clean. Had a lot of options for breakfast. The pricing is better than staying at... More
