Definitely won't be staying again here. For the amount of money spent we could have had & done a lot more. If not for the concierge, I would have been quite disappointed but he REALLY helped us find fun things to do.
A little “me time” after a 2 year pandemic! So relaxing and exactly what I needed. The service was impeccable from the front desk to the pool. Loved having breakfast poolside, the pancakes were delicious. Can’t wait to come back & take in the sun, sit on the balcony & dip in the pool. Thank you for making my stay absolutely wonderful!
After four nights at the Pacific Terrace with the whole family, we can confirm the five-star reviews. The most notable feature, other than the location, is the staff. From the front desk to the cleaning staff, everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. That comes through even on the phone when making reservations. The beds and linens are very comfortable, the pool area is great for lounging and snacking, and the views of the ocean, even from the partial-view rooms, are so beautiful, especially at sunset. (We were on the third floor, so the view is probably best from there.) We especially appreciated that they don't play music in the pool area -- you can just relax in a cabana overlooking the pool and the ocean. You can leave your car at the hotel and walk or bike to dozens of places to find coffee, tacos, ice cream, breakfast (we recommend Drift Cafe), and more. The hotel sources meals from nearby Duck Dive restaurant, and these were just okay, at least for what we ordered. Pacific Beach has a reputation as a college/party town, but other than some noise outside at night, this didn't affect our experience. And it's fun watching the surfers. Highly recommended.…
If you walk the boardwalk on Pacific Beach, you know that Pacific Terrace is the best place to stay. The grounds are beautiful, excellent pool, beautiful part of the beach. The hotel was built many years ago, but has done an excellent job of maintaining excellent facilities and outstanding staff. If you are bringing the whole family and want to cook at home, this is not the place. If you are on a budget and just need a place to sleep while spending the whole day at the beach, this is not the place. If you want all the convenience and pampering of a luxury hotel that is directly on the beach, this is the place to stay and watch the surfers all day, and the sunsets at night.
Hotel in excellent location. Lovely boutique style hotel. Only negative is that the air on is quite old fashioned (cuts in and out and is quite loud). Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool small but in a great position on the beachfront; comfortable sun beds, plenty of towels and access to food and drinks at poolside. Rooms spacious and clean with comfortable beds. Partial sea view with balcony was great. Fridge in room which was good. Access gate to boardwalk and free usage of hotel bikes which was great and a must; lovely leisurely bike ride along the coast walkway. Will definitely return when in San Diego.
- Great location - centrally located to all the San Diego attractions - Fantastic View of the Pacific Ocean - Convenient parking - Walking distance to shops, restaurants, beach - Nice Rooms - Super friendly staff
I love that this place is not too big. This allows the staff to interact with guests making their stay memorable. Our family is a fan of great customer service and great customer service is what we got. From the front desk staff to concierge, bell boy, valet, housekeeping, wait staff, and even the maintenance crew. The front staff and concierge were very helpful. This was our first time visiting Pacific Beach and there are so many things to do! We were provided with information on local attractions, like Belmont Park, SD Zoo, Old Town San Diego, Petco Park because we are a huge baseball fan, as well as the different eateries in the area. Our first night, we were looking for a good Mexican place to eat at and Dan recommended Oscars. We will never forget. The food was fresh and delicious! Whatever we needed the staff addressed them with care in thought. I ended upgrading our room to full ocean view on our last night stay. Dan the concierge who also works the front desk took care of everything and ensured the process did not interfere with our plans. We did not have check out of our room and were assured that we would continue to have access to it until our new room was ready and that if we decided to not be present, the staff would move our belongings to our new room, which exactly what happened. We packed all of our belongings and the bellboy transferred all of our belongings to our new room. When we got back, we were issued new keys and were told that our belongings are in our new room. Housekeeping kept our room meticulous and even made different animals out of towels every day! The waitstaff always made our stay at poolside very nice by bringing our beverages and food. They also kept the area clean! My husband struck a conversation with their maintenance man, Bob, who was working to ensure the pH balance to the hot tub was where it needed to be. He was very personable. He ended coming to our room with Johan to make a minor adjustments to our AC.…
I’ve always loved this hotel. I always stay at Pacific Terrace when I come to SD which is quite often since I live in Las Vegas and it’s an easy get away. This trip was very disappointing. For one I paid for a full ocean view and was set up in room #305. I am surprised to find out that #305 is considered “full ocean view” considering most of the view was of the boardwalk and street watching people walk up and down the coast as they watched us right back. Then during our stay the power went out within the entire hotel lasting 8 hours. Causing me to pack my stuff down the street to a diner so I may get ready for my day. Only after I took an ice cold shower. I was patient with the hotel and gave enough time to rectify the situation with multiple guest but unfortunately had to continue to contact the hotel as they did not get back to me even after my departure. This finally resulting in a $100 refund for all the inconvenience. Im very disappointed how everything was handled especially considering that the hotel has insurance to cover matters such as these and should absolutely not fall on the guest experience for any unforeseen circumstances. Moving forward I will not come back to stay with Pacific Beach at any time in the future when I visit San Diego. This hotel cannot provide me confidence that if anything else were to disrupt my stay that they would make it right by their guests. …
We have stayed at this hotel for many years, and find the price goes up and the quality goes down. We booked a partial ocean view room, but the first night we were put into a non-partial view room, which did not have a hair dryer and was right above the noisy central air conditioning fan. We were moved to a partial ocean view for the remainder of our stay, but that room had foul sewer gas smell from the bathroom sink and a shower stall that leaked water onto the floor. The hallway carpeting is also very tired and in need of a refresher. However, having said all that, the staff is very friendly, and the location cannot be beat.
This is just the best hotel we have ever stayed at, and will most assuredly return! The staff were most helpful even though the power was out on the day we were supposed to check in! Noah in the Caribbean Room was a joy. Made every visit there so pleasant you wanted to come back. I can't think of one thing wrong with our4 day stay there. The pool and spa are gorgeous and well maintained, laundry room neat and clean and the view from our room? Unbelievable!
