I somehow managed to arrive at the hotel a day early. Guess I was excited about going on vacation! The front desk was very helpful and was able to adjust my reservation. They also gave great advice and support related to activities and restaurants nearby. Definitely recommend this place if you want to check out San Diego's nightlife and downtown scene.

The photos made me think it would be at least an Embassy Suites quality but was more of a Holiday Inn. Room was musty, only had two thin towels in a studio “suite”, bed was awful, and windows did not buffer any of the street noise. Studio had a queen bed, super uncomfortable couch that had a pullout sofa (no blankets or sheets provided), mini microwave and mini fridge, with dishes but no silverware. Bathroom had stone countertop but awkward shower/tub combo, broken tile, and poorly maintained caulking. The location should have been ideal but there was a large homeless population, and our last night there one of them got shot in front of the hotel. Six cop cars, an ambulance, and fire truck responded. The shooting caused the music from the bar on the corner to be turned down, so our first quiet night of sleep while the crime scene was investigated. We had the place for a week but only stayed three nights. My back couldn’t do another night on that bed.

We were disappointed with the size of our room after viewing the website and reading the reviews. The WIFI was spotty at best. The resort staff was very friendly though and the common area was pleasant and charming.

Thank you for the review. We are a historical landmark property that was originally a bank and office building. That being said, we do have a large variety of room types for a boutique hotel. Hopefully you will give us another chance and we can get you into one of our junior or 1 bedroom suites. Thank you, Sean Rittenberg AGM Gaslamp Plaza Suites

Plenty of eclectic and top class dining options. There are other places to visit - museums, Seaport Village, Italian neighborhood, wonderful St. Joseph Cathedral, Midway, Balboa Park and more. Definitely valued trip.

The facility was clean and neat. Noise the fist night until 11:00. No breakfast on the roof like advertised. The second night it was louder than the first and did not quiet down till 2:30 AM.The neighbors also banged on the wall almost all night. Black out curtains worked very well, I tripped over the furniture in the dark on the second night. Parking was a major problem. It was suggested we park 6 blocks away, for $35 dollars. Parking by Ace was adjacent to the building for $40. I am physically handicapped so decided to park at ACE. We received a ticket for an additional $40 while we were checking in, about 5 minutes. We went to dinner and were told we would have to pay again, even though we had paid for 24 hrs of parking. The next morning we went to breakfast and returned to find our Windshield was smashed and the side mirror messed up. That afternoon, before the 24 hours were up we received a second $40 ticket and had to pay $60 dollars to park for the 2nd night. We ended up spending an extra $400+ on parking and window repair. More than we paid for the room and lack of sleep.

Dear Guest, I am sorry that your stay was not as planned. We always strive to make sure all our guests are enjoying their stay and are well taken care of. Thank you for acknowledging the cleanliness. Due to the pandemic some of our regular services have had to be suspended. San Diego Health Department is currently not allowing us to provide the continental breakfast due to the pandemic. We are planning on resuming with this service as soon as we are given the approval to do so. I would also recommend that anytime you are having a noise problem from inside of a hotel, please always contact the front desk so this can be addressed. Regarding parking, we can offer our guests parking in a gated garage 1 ½ block away from the hotel. This parking garage is managed by Laz parking and they are offering our guests a discounted charge of $35.00 per night with unlimited in/out privileges. Unfortunately, we do not have any control over the lot adjacent to our building and we are sorry to hear that your car got vandalized there. I would contact that parking management company and discuss your experience there as well as the parking charges, which does seem excessive. I do hope that your overall visit to San Diego was pleasant. Covid-19 has put a damper to traveling but it is nice to see guests venturing out and about again. Should you find yourself coming back to San Diego and you are willing to give us a second chance please contact me so I can assist you directly.
