We had a three night stay in Boston. We booked the Milner on its location. Very easy walk to the common and beacon hill. The size of the rooms are small, and dated. Breakfast was small with options but you can't go wrong with bagels and coffee. Friendly staff who were really helpful. Don't stay if you don't like dated... More

The formal areas are a little dated, but the room was renovated with a new bath and queen size bed. The area is safe, a parking garage across the street for $26/day rather than their regular $40/day. Walk a couple of blocks to the subway, Chinatown, a variety of restaurants and the hop on hop off trolley stop. Continental breakfast... More

The negatives are many - and it started at the front desk where we were greeted with a blunt "what's the name?" No hello, no welcome to Boston, just "what's the name". The hotel is old so I didn't expect wide hallways or large rooms, but the age of the hotel does not excuse the dark, dingy, drabness of the... More

This is a reasonably priced hotel in a very handy part of Boston, near to the common, plenty of restaurants and bars around, walking distance to everywhere you would want to go, helpful front of house staff, good serve yourself breakfast, small but clean room.

Boston hotels are grossly overpriced, and the Milner is an example of that. I paid over $100 a night for a tiny single room, accessed across a set of stairs. This is one of the smallest hotel rooms I've ever been in, with a very old fashioned and noisy air conditioner and a small window with a view of the... More

Both myself and my family spent seven nights in the Milner Hotel. We found it very clean at all times with very helpful staff. A good selection for breakfast and good wifi. Good location within walking distance of the subway.

This was the second time I stayed at the Milner Hotel and I enjoyed it yet again. The rooms have everything you need and you get good value for the money. The location in the Theater District is perfect. Helen in the reception was very kind to me as well as helpful and nice to talk to. Overall, I'd definitely... More

It's hard to believe that hotels like this still exist with the amount of competition from modern chain hotels today. This hotel is awful. The staff was unfriendly and was poor at communicating during check in. The room was small, which was okay, but the beds were barely made and the box springs wrapped in a hospital-like plastic. There was... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in December, its located in a really quiet area right next to Boston Common. We had two double beds that were very comfy and i managed to have a brilliant sleep. My friend who had never used the waffle machine in his life managed to burn his waffle onto it, the staff were really... More

Reasonably priced hotel (for Boston) in a very convenient location looking to visit typical Boston tourist spots. Close to Tufts Medical Center also. The room itself was clean but definitely quite small. There are narrow corridors to navigate. The breakfast is nothing special. Friendly staff. Would probably recommend if traveling on a tighter budget.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
