Our room was extremely small with very little room to store anything. We were away for a fortnight so had two suitcases. The area is fine however it is noisy at night, not helped by the loud air conditioning unit. Bed in our room was ok once we pushed the mattress back onto the base properly. The breakfast is included... More

Hi found the accommodation in Boston quite expensive so had read good reviews for this hotel although a number of people had mentioned Murphy Beds, which I hadn't a clue about. Basically the bed wasn't very comfortable, 1 of the legs was faulty which meant it sloped!! Room was small and dark but clean and the free breakfast was a... More

Jmay - Thanks for your feedback. A "murphy bed" is one that pulls down from the wall. We do not have any of those in the building, no idea where those comments came from. We will check into the faulty bed leg - we absolutely would not want any of our guests to experience that. The area had a bad... More

Dave - Thank you for your comments. While the rooms are small, we will be commencing renovation to brighten them up and update them - towards the end of this year. Thanks for noting that the hotel is in a good location. David, More

Very friendly staff! The woman who checked us in was so easy going and cool. She got us checked in early. The rest of the staff were all friendly as well and wanted to make sure we were having a good time in the city. The location is great, only a couple short blocks from Boston Common and the theatre... Kevin - Glad you had a chance to fill up on our free daily breakfast before heading out to enjoy Boston! Agreed, the rooms are small by American standards, our property is well suited for leisure guests who will spend time out and about in this amazing city. Thank you for your feedback. David. More

Our dark, small room looked out on an air-conditioning shaft: rather depressing. The air-con's noise was unbearable. The bathroom was extremely small. The breakfast was very basic. The only positive of the hotel was that it was within walking distance from the Boston Common.

Corene, thank you for your feedback. As the second oldest hotel in Boston our rooms are certainly smaller than most big name brands, and some rooms open up to the "light wells" which are common in older buildings such as this. Our free breakfast includes fresh waffles, yogurt, muffins, juices, Lavazza coffee, and fresh whole fruit. So while no scrambled... More

We had a very friendly and helpful front desk clerk who let us check in early and gave us great directions. The hotel is an easy walk to the Commons, and a longer walk to Fenway (we walked back after a Sox game). The room was small but very clean. The AC unit was working overtime as it was 99... More

Quiet area of Boston just north of the true South Boston architecture gems and just minutes to walk to Boston Common. Very convenient to the local theaters. Great restaurant choices within walking distance to hotel. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Linens and room were neat and tidy. We were out the door every day so can't comment on their... More

Rooms are extremely small, but clean. Double beds only so you better like the one who is with you. Just down from the theatre district with lots of restaurants close by. Good price for Boston with a nice breakfast.

Similar to a guest below, I was rudely greeted at reception with "what's your last name?" after spending the day travelling to get to the hotel. I was then greeted by a squeeky single bed, in a shoebox sized room, with no door to the restroom. Highlight was the wire dangling above the bed. Luckily located close enough to the... More

We had a three night stay in Boston. We booked the Milner on its location. Very easy walk to the common and beacon hill. The size of the rooms are small, and dated. Breakfast was small with options but you can't go wrong with bagels and coffee. Friendly staff who were really helpful. Don't stay if you don't like dated... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
