I took my wife to Boston for a weekend and we had an amazing stay at the Intercontinental. The attentive front desk staff asked what brought us into town and when we told them it was a birthday celebration they upgraded us to a room with a beautiful waterview. The lobby has the hustle and bustle you would expect at a downtown hotel but the rooms were very quiet, clean and extremely comfortable. They look better in person than in the pictures. We also had a fantastic experience at the spa on the 2nd floor. We made an appointment for a couples massage which was phenomenal. Great spa! Very zen! Wonderful service and accommodations. Top notch! Highly recommend!

What’s good? Quiet room, good bar staff and drink selection, big gym and a great location. What wasn’t? I couldn’t get the room temperature accurate - set to 68 and the room is 74, the lack of free waters in the room for $600 per night, annoying light switches in the room and room temperature water from the dispenser in the gym. I expect more from higher end properties. I wouldn’t stay again on a personal trip with a stay only relayed to a business event on the property.

Unlike prior reviews I wouldn’t consider the hotel a superb 5star - it’s a good 4star. Consider the restaurant - just average food quality, with adequate but not superb service. Hours of operation are very rigid with restaurant closed at 1:45 for lunch and nothing available in the bar. Place can be desolate sometimes, which I feel speaks to the quality. Rooms are adequate; top marks for the bed, but very misleading description for corner room - there are not two views of the Fort Point Channel - just one, and another of the tower next door. Also only one sink in the bathroom of our suite, and the connecting window from the bathroom to the bedroom is so passé now. The room service delivery was poor - person delivered the table and left - unlike other hotels there was no set up, we had to open the table and organize the dishes ourselves. The hotel is well situated for many of Boston’s shoreline amenities, but a hike to the Common and central shopping on Boylston or Newbury street.

Better than expected! Great hospitality, amenities and location. The staff was very personal, the room seemed very new and the bed was comfortable as well. There is a parking garage just one street down (280 Congress) which is very convenient. All-in-all a flawless stay on MDW weekend.

My wife and I just celebrated our 42nd Anniversary at the IC Boston and enjoyed it immensely. From the time we checked in until departure the staff showered us with great customer service to insure that we had a superior experience. I absolutely MUST give a shout out to Harold and Zachery at the front desk, Francesca and Denis in the Club Lounge and Julien and Christina in Guest Relations, all of whom went above and beyond. Aside from the the wonderful staff, you simply can't beat the location just 2 blocks from the South Station T and the burgeoning Seafront District on the other side of the hotel, which includes several excellent restaurants and bars. Downtown Boston and Boston Commons are also within a 15-20 minute walk. You simply can't beat the location and you really don't need a car if you're touring Boston, with all the trollies and the T just a few blocks away. Most importantly, the rooms are good size and extremely clean, as was all the common areas throughout the hotel. Beds were very comfy and internet service was fast with lots of outlets throughout the room to plug in all your devices. There is also a full service restaurant in the hotel which was excellent in case the weather is bad or you just don't feel like going out, and a Club Lounge which has snacks and beverages throughout the day and serves a full buffet breakfast in the morning and hors d'oeuvres or an abbreviated dinner in the evening for use by Intercontinental Ambassador elite members. As a Diamond Ambassador elite in the IHG program, I've stayed in quite a few IC hotels around the world and this one is indeed one of the best in the portfolio. Needless to say, I highly recommend it.

For my second holiday trip to Boston, I chose to stay at the IC hotel on Atlantic Avenue. Close to South Station with its good transportation connections, the IC Boston is a 12-year old property that more than holds its own alongside other such famous Boston hotel brands as the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental and The Newbury (and at a more attractive price!). Our room was a spacious and beautifully-designed two-room, two-bathroom suite on the 9th floor overlooking the Four Point river section with direct views of the Boston Tea Party historical re-enactment ships. The up-and-coming Seaport district (good restaurants/bars) is a short walk across either of the two bridges flanking the hotel. Downtown and Boston Common are an easy 15-minute walk away, and the famous hop-on, hop-off Trolley Bus Tours begin just 5-minutes walk down the road. The IC Boston offers a truly 5-star experience. As an InterContinental Hotels Ambassador Member, I’ve stayed at a lot of IC hotels. Boston ranks as one of the very finest in every respect. Rooms are luxuriously appointed, the facilities on-point and the staff well-trained and fully up to their jobs. If budget permits, opt for a Club Lounge Access room. Located on the 12th floor, the Club serves a full hot & cold breakfast buffet (ecxellent), beverages and light refreshments throughout the day, and an elegant evening drinks and canapés experience (including good wines and premium spirits). I must make special mention of Julien Berrut, Director of Guest Relations, who, together with his highly professional team, made my stay all the better. Julien’s attention to detail and obvious passion for his work provided the perfect ‘human’ complement to my stay at this lovely hotel.

Would have given this 5 stars except for the restaurant. Beautiful hotel with a nice view. Great location, close to everything. Hotel staff and bellman were very nice. We ate lunch at the restaurant on our last day. Except for the host, service was awful! The waitress was obviously annoyed with something. Someone from the kitchen served our food then we never saw the waitress again. Someone else checked on us more than 15 minutes after we finished eating. This person was nice but did not identify themselves. Easily the worst meal we had on our trip. Not bad, we ate because we were starving but it wasn’t great food. Our fountain drinks were flat. No one ever checked on our drinks or food after we were served. We took one sip of the drinks. When I did get a chance to complain to the person who brought my meal ticket, she said other diners had complained too and they were removed from my bill. That said I would recommend this as a hotel and would stay here again. However I’ll most likely try another hotel in the area. I cannot recommend the restaurant.
