Great desk staff at Hotel 140. Beyond that I absolutely not impressed. The room was tiny. There was no coffee in then room and no information about the "lounge" - a barren communal room with a Keurig - was readily available. There damage in the tiny shower so that water constantly puddled in one spot (gross!!). The second day of...

I didn't feel I was first priority. Early check in (60 mins before normal check in) was promised and never delivered. I had to approach the front desk later after that to get my room and I was waiting in the lobby but no one came over to me.

Great location for exploring Boston. Close to restaurants, bars, shops etc. Close to Copley Square, Newbury, Boston Common and China town. Room was clean and comfortable, take travel kettle, as no facilities in room. However complimentary tea and coffee on floor 7. The cafe on the ground floor is ideal for breakfast. Flour and Friendly Toast are close by and...

Nice room, very small for the price. Shower was 30" square. Minimal amenities. Bath soap the size of a quarter. Toilets flush extremely loud - hear them thru the walls, ceiling and walking down the halls. I spent a lot of $'s for this and was not impressed or even satisfied. Discount chain MOTELS at par or better. But... great...

Great location, decent hotel, but very pricey. Just the way it is in Boston if you want to stay in the Back Bay area. By the time they finished adding in the city tax, state tax, etc. and converting it to Canadian funds, we ended up paying $530 Cdn. per night for a very average room.

The hotel is very good, still a little expensive but very good. The location is great and very easy access to the main points of Back Bay. The room was a little small, but very organized and clean. Overall great experience.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
