The Boxer is a beautiful hotel in the city. It’s comfortable, clean and has everything you need for a relaxing a stay. Very close to TD Garden and the train station but also walkable to just about any part of downtown Boston. This was our third stay and plan on staying here again!

Room was typical of an above average urban hotel, using the limited space to provide comfortable beds, attached bathroom with shower and basic amenities like coffee maker and good wifi. The staff was responsive to some minor issues related to our stay and provided a prompt and efficient solution. The real USP is its location providing walking access to attractions like Beacon Hill, Boston Common, North End River Front, Museum of Science and other markers on the Freedom Trail. Also, the hotel provides safe sheltered parking at $40 per day (24hrs). Ate at the bar and restaurant on the last night and was happy with the meal, though, as expected, it was overpriced. Would definitely recommend staying if you want to park your car and explore a significant part of the city just by walking.

Absolutely amazing stay at the Boxer! The front staff was kind, helpful, and overall just great. When we first arrived the woman at the front desk gave us maps of the area and pointed out every location we wanted to visit. She helped give directions and made it easier for us to navigate the city. While the elevator was broken for the first day of our stay, the front staff offered to help carry our bags up to our room and ensured we had a room on a lower floor. The room was clean, comfortable, and modern. The rooms were small, but that is usual considering it is located in a big city. Because of this, the use of space in the room was quite smart and efficient. When we had a problem with the lock on the door late at night, the front desk was extremely accommodating and offered us a different room on the same floor. Overall, we had a wonderful time staying at The Boxer and will be back again!

After seeing the reviews, I thought I had found the perfect hotel for our 4 nights in Boston. WRONG. The room was so tiny, about 7 feet by 8 feet, that the bed was pushed against the windows, the only nightstand was a refrigerator, there was no closet, only one drawer for clothing and to make it worse, the room was painted black so it appeared even smaller. Housekeeping just couldn't figure out that we needed two towels each day and washcloths, and every day we would have to call down and request more. We reported a slow drain the first day to Noah, who said he would have someone fix it the next day, but never did. One evening we called down to request towels and the phone rang and rang, several times. Finally went downstairs and there was no one to be found. NOW THEN, it was not all bad. Let me tell you about Karena. She worked the desk the last two days of our visit, and what a gem. She was engaging, helpful and had the personality to be in that position. Karena actually went outside to show me where the parking garage was and explained the traffic pattern to help navigate the busy intersection. Another bonus was the location, which is what you are paying the overpriced rates for, which was in the heart of it all. Just steps from everything we wanted to see and do. High marks for the Public Market a few blocks away for a quick breakfast, lunch or snack, unique food stalls with lots of variety. Would look for other options if we went again, it was just too small for two adults with two pieces of luggage (which we stored under the sink in the bathroom!)

My friend and I picked this location because it was reasonably priced and close to a lot of the tourist attractions I was interested in. What was unexpected was the level of fun and courtesy of the staff; especially Karena and Noah. Not only are they a joy but they also had great suggestions for local eateries and helped us navigate transportation.

The room was nice, clean, and updated. Some reviews have said the rooms are small but I thought the size was perfect.

The hotel is close to the subway but if you’re not opposed to walking, it’s a great location! We were able to walk the entire freedom trail and saw all the great tourist sites.

Overall, we were super happy with this location and would happily stay again!

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and I continue to be impressed with it. First, it's conveniently located just a few blocks from TD Garden and all the activity that surrounds North Station. An added plus is that, despite being so close, the fact that the rooms all face away from the bustle of the area, there wasn't any noise pollution from the street. I also found the rooms to be quite soundproof so I wasn't disturbed by televisions or talking from other guests.

The staff is friendly and always ready to assist. You do have to request housekeeping at the front desk each day you need it, but, on my short 3-night stays, the room has been equipped with enough towels and supplies that I have not needed to ask. It helps that the hotel is immaculately clean at the start.

The onsite restaurant is quite good, though the surrounding area also offers plenty of options within short walking distance. Access to the subway is just a short few blocks away as well.

I've stayed at similar hotels in Boston, but the combination of location, price and service is hard to match, so I will be back again and again.

When you travel 100+ nights a year for business, often times the faces we see become very familiar, and often very comforting. After making an unplanned trip to Boston, I used Hotel Tonight to book a room at the Boxer. A very cool, boutique hotel near TD Garden/North Station, with a friendly staff, extra comfy beds, and an on-site Bistro that serves great food, including breakfast.

Walking into the hotel the 1st time wearing a bathing suit because my luggage was lost, I encountered Danielle McInnis at the front desk. Beyond her incredible smile, which never seems to go away, she epitomizes what great hospitality is. She put me in a fantastic room, got me something to eat despite the kitchen being closed, provided a few waters, and asked if she could help with contacting the airline about my luggage. The entire entire experience was so genuine, the Boxer has become my Boston base whenever I’m in town. Nothing beats seeing seeing Danielle and hearing her greeting after a day of travel. There are some other great team members I’ve been fortunate to interact with, including Jamie, Noah and the regional boss Kathleen (whose spirit the team seems to emulate).

If you want a convenient location for a night or two, like cute but impractical furniture, have money to burn and are over 5’5”, this might work for you.
The storage is wholly inadequate for 2 people for more than 1 or 2 nights. 18 inches of hanging space and the one drawer would not open more than a couple of inches as it was squished up against the bed. Once this was sorted, gymnastics were still required to make use of the drawer. Ditto the safe and coffee machine: standing on the bed was required to access these. I raised the storage challenges a number of times and was met with the same response of it being “the pattern of the room” and a level of indifference which was disappointing.
Having to request replenishing of towels and toiletries as this was not carried out consistently was irritating. The hole in the robe, lack of cups to use for the fruit infused water and lemonade of which they are quite proud and less than clean elevator smacks of a poorly run establishment.
What is disappointing also is that a number of issues that I have mentioned, particularly staff training, have been raised over the last 12 months in other reviews and they have learnt nothing.
Please excuse the mess in the pics, but, as noted above, storage was challenging. Oh, and the inexplicable cage that the TV is in obscures the screen.
I did raise issues with the team but as they weren’t particularly interested, seemed to find customer service a bit of an irritation and it was eating into my holiday, I gave up.

The hotel has a great location, nice views from the top floors. But the rooms are not as clean as they should be, and the service is, well, weird. We were a family of three and had a junior suite, but the bedding provided for the pull out couch was a very thin and not very nice blanket. The room safe did not work. The walls are thin and you hear everything that happens in the hallway.

But it’s the service that is the real issue. We asked for an additional towel (only two were provided) and they never brought it to us. They did not clean our room, or replace coffee supply. When we called down the next day to ask for the towel (again) and coffee replacement, they were annoyed and made excuses for why they had not cleaned and replaced the prior day, and why they would prefer to not do so now, before grudgingly bringing the requested items up. The whole experience makes one feel like an unwanted houseguest, rather than welcomed customer. Too bad, as the building and location are pretty cool-could be a fantastic place if they took more care of the place were more thoughtful and interested in their customers.

We’ve stayed in many hotels in Boston as it is our favorite getaway city. This was our first at The Boxer.
It is in the refurbished Bullfinch Building which is historic and quite beautiful. It’s central location makes it a nice spot but the lack of parking is a great drawback.
The amenities are nice and the staff is friendly, helpful and professional. The room that we had was better suited for a single person as it was extremely small and we had difficulty getting around our bed, stubbing our toes frequently.
The high point of our stay was our breakfast. The oatmeal was superb, loaded with fresh berries and brown sugar.
The bacon, eggs and toast were perfectly cooked and presented. The coffee was hot, rich, full bodied and refilled continuously. We only wished we were staying long enough to have dinner.
