We enjoyed our stay at the Boxer and would definitely return. The breakfast at Bulfinch Social was surprisingly good! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were here over a long weekend and were able to easily get to all our destinations, mostly on foot.

I was displaced from my home and being in a hotel room for 3 weeks is daunting, but Noah made me feel like I was coming home every time he saw me. He was very professional, friendly, caring and would go above and beyond to make my stay as pleasant as possible. He was my first impression of the hotel, and a smart move on management's part.

Great location, efficient and friendly service from arrival to departure. This is not a luxury hotel so do not expect perks such as valet parking and twice daily housekeeping but the Boxer is a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Boston- especially if you are attending an event at TD Garden. I highly recommend it.

Service: I spent 30 minutes over 2 phone calls to get my original booking (direct through hotel) rate lowered to a newer, lower offer for same room type, terms, and dates. This should have been an easy toggle on the hotel's end but unnecessarily became a huge undertaking for no apparent reason. When the staff person began asking me for all my booking information over the phone, I explained that it was completely foolish, that calling was supposed to be an act of expedience, and that I could faster book anew online and cancel my existing reservation. I booked anew online. When I went to cancel the old reservation, the system said I couldn't cancel online and had to call the hotel! I waited until the next day hoping to speak to a different staff person. That work, but that I had to provide my email address from them to send me a confirmation of my cancellation was mind-boggling - it's right there with the reservation you're cancelling! At the end of our first full day's stay, we returned exhausted only to discover both my and my fiance's room keys wouldn't work on our room door. I took them both down to the front desk where I was asked questions in a way blaming me (no, neither key was exposed to a magnet or my phone, and by the way the two keys were stored on completely separate persons). Finally got that fixed. Building/Rooms: I know the hotel was renovated in 2013, but unfortunately choosing cheaper options vs. investing in pieces/workmanship has come home to roost, and a lot of ththings in the hotel merit a facelift or full replacing. Starting with the very unspecial office-building-style main entrance doors, to the curtain hiding the heap of electrical and networking wires in the closet(?) beside the front desk, through the extremely dim lighting of the hotel room hallways, to the guest rooms (906 in our case) which need a fresh coat of paint to clean up the sloppy job of the previous painter (think careless drips, etc). A barn-style sliding door to the bathroom is necessary in the space but also rife with damage from previous unwitting users, and these doors are too heavy to pull with the hidden, tiny hook/handle. Bathroom design is pretty terrible, from the literal 12" sink mounted in an oversize vanity (bigger sink, smaller counter is smarter) to the shower door which looks nice at first glance but has been modified at least once to remediate water leaking out onto bathroom floor by adding metal trim with incorrect screws (heads aren't flush, rust, etc.). You can stock L'Occitane toiletries all you want, it doesn't make up for all this. The desk chair is of poor craftsmanship and so wobbly it's probably a risk to sit it in. Nightstands are poorly constructed too, with extremely loose built-in electrical plugs and cabinet doors/hinges that aren't up to the task; the cabinet door concealing the mini fridge creaked immensely. The window had a crack in it, there was a noticeable spot on the sheer shade, the mattress needs replacing as it had noticeable sagging in the place where folks would sit up in bed to watch TV or eat, and while coffee mugs and wine glasses are provided to accompany in-room single-serve coffee and mini bar, neither rocks glasses nor any bathroom-safe cups were provided for the bathroom; as non-coffee drinkers, we just used the coffee mugs, but what would others do? The room was fairly clean but could use attention to detail, as evidenced by the spots/drips on the front of the bathroom vanity and the marks on the room walls. Lighting options aren't great - overhead light center of room over bed is in a terrible location if you want it on and to watch TV in bed. Nightstand lamps only pivot two directions (forward/back, not left/right), all bathroom lights are very bright and operate on a single switch. Thankfully, The Boxer is in a very quiet area, because the few louder sounds were easily heard even up on the 9th floor. The City is planning a revitalization of the area, but I don't know how the timeline is proceeding post-pandemic (other than clearly slower). So, watch for how the area fills in with retail/night life in the coming years as it pertains to noise transference for the hotel.

Room was disgusting since it wasn't cleaned from the prior guests. Front desk switched us to a much smaller room with 1 bed instead of the 2 we booked. It was so small I couldn't walk around the bed because cabinets were too close to the bed. Only could see the TV from straight on because it was tucked back in a cabinet. Parking was an ordeal and not nearby. Don't waste your time with this place.

They may have been great in the past, but they have gone downhill obviously. They do not offer valet parking. You have to drive to a parking garage and then walk back to your hotel. Even though they advertise it on Google, they believe that they should not be held to their own advertising. As someone who is disabled, I would, without a doubt, ensure that you never stayed at this hotel ever. There's a nice hotel right around the corner Indigo has all the amenities you would expect...

This hotel is in a nice location and a walkable distance from lots of food and shopping. The rooms are comfortable and amenities are pretty standard. The gym is among one of the smallest and least stocked with equipment that I've ever seen, with only a treadmill, a bike, a yoga ball and a small set of dumbbells with a bench. During my stay, all of a sudden the room started to smell like burned electrical wires. I called up the front desk and was told that this is because the AC system has been switched to outside air for the spring, and all the dust in the vent may come through but should go away soon. After a few hours the smell only got worse to the point that it became hard to breathe in the room and I got a headache. I went downstairs to the front desk to explain around 12:30 that night and they managed to put me into another room. A bit of an inconvenience but at least they were able to accommodate me. When I went back to the room to pack up my things, I realized the room was right next to the electrical cabinet, and something must have burned inside there and travelled through the ventilation into my room. Unfortunately the smell of burnt rubber and plastic is stuck onto all my clothes now and they will need a wash. All in all an alright stay.

The hotel has a great location, nice views from the top floors. But the rooms are not as clean as they should be, and the service is, well, weird. We were a family of three and had a junior suite, but the bedding provided for the pull out couch was a very thin and not very nice blanket. The room safe did not work. The walls are thin and you hear everything that happens in the hallway. But it’s the service that is the real issue. We asked for an additional towel (only two were provided) and they never brought it to us. They did not clean our room, or replace coffee supply. When we called down the next day to ask for the towel (again) and coffee replacement, they were annoyed and made excuses for why they had not cleaned and replaced the prior day, and why they would prefer to not do so now, before grudgingly bringing the requested items up. The whole experience makes one feel like an unwanted houseguest, rather than welcomed customer. Too bad, as the building and location are pretty cool-could be a fantastic place if they took more care of the place were more thoughtful and interested in their customers.

I recently spent two nights in Boston while my mother was having major surgery at Mass General. The Boxer was in the perfect location: within walking distance of the hospital which is why I chose to stay there. I walked back and forth several times per day in only about 8 minutes. Going out of the hotel in the other direction brought me to many other great Boston locations where I could get some air and stretch my legs. The hotel staff was all very friendly. I had contacted the hotel ahead of time to say I would be checking my mother in to MGH at 9 am and heading to the hotel after to drop off my bags. I was shocked to find that they had my room ready at that point! I was able to settle right into my room and put in a full day of work while she was in surgery. The room was small but lovely. It has everything I needed and was very quiet, clean and comfortable. The food on the property was delicious and the minibar was well stocked with drinks and snacks. There were also MANY other food and beverage options within walking distance. The only slight negative was how far of a walk the parking garage was for the hotel (5-10 mins depending on how fast you walk). It was manageable for me but for some it could be a problem and it is worth mentioning. I would 100% stay here again. They made s stressful few days much more relaxing.
