First time traveler to Boston. Company booked me at the Loews Boston Hotel (former Boston PD Headquarters). Friendly check-in, excellent room and accommodations. Greeted by Steve the doorman. After checking in had the opportunity to speak with Steve again. He provided me with great local information and recommended places within walking distance. His valuable insight added to to the overall... More

The hotel is very well located, within easy walking distance from the start of the freedom trail and lots of shops and restaurants. The room was a good size and very comfortable. There was a tea and coffee machine in our room and also free tea and coffee making facilities in the lobby. As requested we were given a quiet... More

My wife and I stayed there while attending some concerts at Fenway. It's a former police headquarters building some it has all the charm and character of an older building but on the inside it's completely modernized. Our room and features we're perfect sized and the location was fantastic. Right near The Commons and Public Gardens we could walk to... More

The Loews Hotel Boston is my go to hotel. The staff at check-in is friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean and well equipped and the bed is very comfortable. The location is perfect if you are coming into the city by train. Located 1 block from Back Bay Station. You are three blocks from Newbury Street. The restaurant is... More

Had two, two night stays in July. Comfortable enough even though beds a bit small. Great location, bar restaurant very good and lively. Steve out front really helpful and welcoming, as were all the staff. Will definately stay here again.

A delightful boutique style hotel close to everything. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are large with very comfortable beds and everything one would need (and more) for a happy stay in Boston. The concierge on duty was extremely helpful and ensured we experienced as much as possible in the brief time we had in Boston.

What a great time my family and I had during our recent stay in Boston. Loews Hotels and EVERYONE we met were most courteous and helpful. The only thing that could have made our stay better would be more time.

My husband, son and I spent 4 days at the Loews Hotel. We chose the Loews because it allows dogs. We had our dog with us. The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. The building is beautiful. I loved that it use to be the old Boston Police Headquarters and the Loews has kept in that theme. I loved the... More

I liked the staff, and the design of the hotel but their inability to provide alcohol to the room after a long day was really frustrating. I could go down to the bar, and order beer bottles that they required to be served open. Certainly a step down from other Loews in terms of amenities. Great location though

We did enjoy staying at the Loews. Nice contemporary atmosphere, great lounge with complementary coffee and teas always available. Great beds and beddings. Staff is friendly and professional. Hotel location is fantastic: public gardens, shopping streets, restaurants and cafes. The restaurant is nice and opens on an outside sunken terrace. Breakfast quality was very high. Important sports events can be... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's not often that a hotel embodies all that a city stands for, but the Loews Boston is just that place. Housed in the stately limestone building that was once home to the Boston Police Headquarters, our recently renovated boutique property is-like the city of Boston itself-a unique and unforgettable blend of historic charm, urbane sophistication and authentic New England hospitality. Our exclusive Back Bay location, which is ideally situated between three of Boston's hottest neighborhoods-the South End, the Theater District and the Back Bay-puts you in the heart of all that Boston has to offer, with everything you want to see or experience, including the shopping on Newbury Street, just moments away. If you are in town for an event at one of Boston's many colleges and universities, we offer effortless access to the campuses of Boston University, Boston College, Harvard, Northeastern, Emerson and Tufts Medical School, to name just a few. Our 225 spacious guestrooms, two luxury suites and an expansive Presidential Suite have been freshly renovated and bring you the ultimate in modern convenience and comfort. And our recently updated 1,024-square-foot Harrison Room-with its vaulted, 20-foot cathedral ceilings and crystal chandelier-is an unparalleled event space and the perfect location for your next intimate gathering. ... more   less
