This is a lovely and affordable place to stay. I was doing research at the Boston Public Library, and it was perfect. Felt very safe and easy-going. Located in lovely avenue, with Boston Common at the far end. Shared bathroom was not an issue. It is a historic building, and is presented and decorated in keeping with this. Lots of... More

Loved The College Club. It has atmosphere, is cozy and is situated right near the Commons. Uber taxis everywhere when needed for getting around. A lovely breakfast every morning as well. I would suggest to the hosts that they add an honour bar for cocktail hour - maybe some red and white wine?

I stayed here the night before a wedding because I accidentally made my reservation at the wedding hotel a night short. I would recommend it and stay here again, the location was great! I was a bit skeptical of sharing a bathroom, and while it was kind of a hassle to bring all my shower stuff out with me, it... More

A friend and I stayed in the Connecticut room. It was large, with high ceilings and a big bay window. The location is fantastic and because you are in a brownstone on Commonwealth Avenue you feel like you are a part of the very nicest part of Boston. You can pretty much walk everywhere, and if you don't want to... More

I stayed here for three nights in July in a single room. I was concerned about having to share a bathroom, but as others have said, it wasn't a problem. I never had to wait to use the bathroom and it was always spotlessly clean. I booked via a third party booking site and was sent the keypad number to... More

I stayed at this hotel a few years back and I loved it! Rooms were clean, the breakfast was continental but very satisfactory. I had a suite where I had to share a bathroom but there wasn't anyone else around so I had it to myself. It was great! The location is excellent and I was free to come and... More

The location is excellent with it located in the very nice back bay area, and within short walking distance of the boston public gardens, Boston common, beacon hill and the restaurants and shops on newbury and boylton streets. Theres a subway station about 5mins walk away so rest of town is easily accessible. Regarding the room (single room with shared... More

The CCB is located on Commonwealth Ave, and less than a block from the Boston Public Garden. I appreciated the location and the pretty boulevard in a residential area. This is a classy looking brownstone, with elegant furnishings. The hotel was full when we stayed, yet so quiet. There is not a constant bustle of staff and guests. The service... More

This place may not be for everyone, but it was perfect in so many ways. I stayed in a single room with shared bath and I was a bit apprehensive but my room was so comfortable with a writing desk and a bookcase with books. A comfortable easy chair with reading lamp. The bathroom was so clean with marble floor... More

Excellent location, nice old fashioned decor. Service ok. A bit of attitude or coolness. Continental breakfast only. No parking, which is very inconvenient. Zero help with bags. Air conditioner in the room worked well. Overall atmosphere a bit cramped.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
