I rarely review unpleasant travel experiences (I was going to say "never" but this is my first, so I guess saying "never" would be lying). I usually try to find a reasonable (or unreasonable) excuse, for example that maybe it was just bad timing or something happened to go wrong that day etc. But I really wish I hadn't booked... More

My wife and I stayed here because a Kaplan seminar was located here. I would never stay here again. The lobby and elevators reeked of cigarette smoke. Getting in and out of the hotel with luggage was awful. The entire hotel needs to be gutted and rebuilt. The rooms are small, dated and dirty. Forget WiFi in the rooms. Our... More

Nothing fancy at all, don't expect it! We stay here for the Marathon because the staff and service are world class! The price point can't be beat for the location and it's clean and quiet. You are literally 4 blocks from the finish line. Dunkin is in the building, Starbucks across the street, Orange line around the corner and the Mall... More

I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before I booked. This place doesn't match the upscale locale. The musty smell and stained carpet meet you upon entry. The room was well lite with a good view. The sheets were freshly laundered. The bathroom was another story. My Lysol spray couldn't fix that mess. The tub should have been... More

This hotel is very run down for the price I had to pay. One woman at the reception desk was extremely rude and acted like it was an inconvenience for us to check it. The room smelled mouldy, the shower pressure was inconsistent, the shower curtain was dirty, I questioned the cleanliness of the quilt on the bed. The area... More

Location - SPOT ON! Hotel creature comforts are lacking and that is really the downside of this Hotel. It could offer SO much more in luxury but just falls way too short. It was clean and offered a place to lay your head at night, but it really is so outdated and needs some much needed TLC. Staff were friendly... More

First thing I would like to mention is that the location of this hotel is superb. The Back Bay station of the Orange Line is right across the street and many fine restaurants can be found steps away on Newbury and Boylston streets. The area is safe with a lively night life. Now for the bad, this hotel has seen... More

Do NOT stay here. My company booked this place for me, and then apologized after I sent photos. If I had stayed more than one night, I would have paid myself to stay elsewhere. Dirty rooms, lights didn't work anywhere but the entry way, outlets didn't work in any room- I didn't even shower in the morning because the bathroom... More

I usually don't write reviews, but i want to warn anyone who is considering booking here for the cheap rates- run away!! We stayed for one night- and thank God it was only 1 night other wise I would have left. The hotel is in extreme need of a full gut job, and it seems no one cares about the... More

This is located close to everything. It is hard to find the hotel since the signage is so small. If you just need a place to sleep and a quick shower then this is ok. Very dated and needs updates. The Lennox down the street bought this hotel but yet has to update it. The bathtubs are very old and... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
