I stayed at the Commonwealth about 10 years in a room overlooking Fenway Park, it was amazing. But not this time…..We went to the Red Sox- Astros game and booked a room advertised as overlooking Fenway, my wife was very excited as she had heard my praises of the view for all these years. Opening the door we had a very different experience. The room was on the third floor and our Fenway view, well as you can see by the photos was bad…no view of the stadium as before, all we really had was a view of the graffiti and stadium lights! The view did not at all match the photo on the hotel’s web site nor was there any disclaimers that some rooms would have primarily thruway/graffiti views. Very very disappointing. The staff, especially the valets, were very helpful. We did ask for a coffee machine per other postings (none are in the room) and it arrived quickly. Not sure we will stay here when we come back for an August baseball game, there are other options close by.…
In town for a Sox game. Checked into our original hotel, only to find that the accommodations were not sufficient for a group our size. Two hours before the game we were scrambling for hotel and parking, and Hotel Commonwealth came through for us in a pinch. Cute and comfortable, clean, spacious, and incredibly convenient to Fenway. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return!
If you are looking for a hotel with easy access to Fenway Park and downtown Boston, this is it. My room was a very nice size, great workspace, modern bathroom and a great bed. The lack of a in room coffee machine was very odd but they do offer morning coffee in the lobby. The staff was friendly, helpful and nice from check in to out. Would stay at the property again.
The Hotel Commonwealth has long been our favorite hotel in Boston. Not anymore. Apparently, it is under new ownership and corners are being cut while absurd fees are being added. There is no way to make coffee or tea in the rooms (and we were in a junior suite). We were told nothing about room service breakfast options when we checked in. Instead, we were told that “free” coffee is available on the second floor from 7-10 in the mornings. No tea. And, the fee for this is 30 dollars a day. There were only plastic cups in the room until we asked for glass ones. There were no robes until we asked. The faucets leaked in the bathroom. The make up mirror was broken. The bed blanket was wadded up and left on top of our suitcase. I can no longer recommend this hotel. It’s quite sad, really, to see what it’s become.…
I would recommend this hotel to anyone!! We recently stayed for one night and the staff was so friendly and the rooms were very clean. I think the best part about this hotel was the location and the amazing staff! They went above and beyond to make our experience great. If you're going to Boston, check this place out!
Had such a great stay at Hotel Commonwealth! Nick checked me in and couldn't have been nicer. The room was HUGE and had such an amazing view of Fenway. The front desk staff and the bellmen and doormen were beyond helpful with the snow to make sure we stayed dry the hotel time! Will definitely be staying at the hotel my next trip back to Boston.
I recently stayed at Hotel Commonwealth while visiting Boston for my bridal shower. I had my friends and family stay there as well. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about HC! Nick at the front desk was friendly and efficient. The doormen staff helped with my numerous bags and getting into and out of my car. The room was very clean and had an awesome view of Fenway! The bed was extremely comfortable and the room even had a nice white noise machine to help me sleep. I highly recommend this hotel!
This is a great hotel in a very good area of Boston. The T stop is just outside the door of the hotel and many of Bostons attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. Pros: Customer Service was excellent in particular Jessica and Mari who gave our little baby a hotel mascot stuffed animal. They were so welcoming and friendly. Christopher was also very helpful upon check out. Snack upon check in a nice touch. Excellent location as mentioned above. Huge comfy bed and nice toiletries in the bathroom. Cons: Slightly overpriced for what you actually get I.e. No tea/ coffee facilities in bedroo, no pool or spa facilities and lacking lobby atmosphere as there is no restaurant or bar. To justify the price they should really conisder granting access to tjeir beautiful rooftop with Fenway views when there are no private events on. …
If you want a place in the heart of Boston, near shopping and eating AND Fenway Park. And it is on top of a subway stop. This is the place. The staff was super helpful and nice. The rooms were well appointed and maintained. We had daily fresh towels. The only negative is there is no resturant in the hotel. Plan to stay at Hotel Commonweatlh, you won't be sorry.
I wrote my first Trip Advisor review on this hotel 11 years ago. We LOVE the staff that has been with the hotel a long time, led by Nick, the Head Concierge; great bellmen like Frankie. They make you feel like you never left. We love the rooms, like the Baseball Suite, and The Rathskeller Suite (The Rat!). We came back after two years of Covid, and loved it again….it would have been 5 stars, like the Staff, BUT where, oh where, did our beloved Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster Bar, and Hawthorne go? OMG. You totally ripped the spirit out of the place. Rent dispute? Give me a break. NO. So we get it; Garrett Harker is opening at the new place after two years down the street with a few new restaurants and bars….we can’t wait to visit them. We love the Hotel Comm and it’s location, and we’ll keep coming back mostly because of IT’S GREAT STAFF as well. But you really did a BAD thing by getting rid of three of our favorite restaurants/bars of all time. Totally nuts. So you’re putting a new sushi bar….it better be great….but how could it possibly compare to the now gone Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster Bar of Garrett Harker/Jeremy Sewall/Skip Bennett (the guy who put oyster farming on the map), and the incredible craft cocktail ambiance of The Hawthorne. Ya think so? I wouldn’t bet on it. We’ll see. You have a lot of ground to make up after throwing away the best. Duh. Good thing you have a wonderful staff. Make sure you don’t blow that!…
