    So glad I stayed
I’ve stayed at this property many times in the last ten plus years and am finally writing about my most recent experience. This Kimpton is one of three in the Boston area and is in a prime location downtown. You’re near everything the city has to offer. Parking is valet only and is pricey like most city hotels. There are garages located nearby if you’re looking to save a few bucks. I contacted the property prior to my stay to say hello and confirm the room. I immediately got a response from one of the managers, Phil. He was friendly, gracious, and accommodating. Check in was a delight and felt like I was visiting old friends (though I’d never met these staff members before). Leon and Liz were so kind when I arrived and made me feel right at home. We were only here for one night this time and stayed in a Hub Suite which has one bathroom with tub/shower, living room, eating area, separate bedroom, and two closets. Spacious for a city hotel. There was only one window in the one we stayed in, but it felt cozy, quiet, and private. The hotel was remodeled several years ago and has Eames chairs, leather, marble, and gold accents. It’s getting a little worn due to guest use and abuse. Still very pretty. Some things that I love about Kimpton is their loyalty program. It’s free to join and you get internet, a Raid the Bar credit for $10 off mini bar or in house bar charges. They also host a wine hour from 5-6pm nightly. They have social passwords seasonally which treat guests with surprises when given at check in. Kimpton Hotels are my favorite properties and I hope they continue their unique boutique personalized vibe.
We are so glad you stayed too, thanks so much for the kind words about Phil, Leon and Liz. I really do appreciate it and hope to see you again soon! Joe Capalbo, Area Director of Operations, joe.capalbo@kimptonhotels.com

Unforgettable experience at the Nine Zero!
My wife and I were celebrating a job promotion with a night out in Boston. We chose to stay at the Nine Zero and could not have made a better decision! When we arrived it was around 4:00, so there was a short line to check in. However, the manager was very engaging and made sure to ask those in line whether they were checking in or if there was something else he may be able to help them with. Fortunately, we only had to wait a few minutes to check in and when we did, we were shocked to find out that they upgraded us to their Penthouse Suite!! (My wife must have mentioned we were celebrating when she made the reservation). When we got up to the room we were truly blown away. This is by far the nicest room we’ve ever stayed in! On the top floor with spectacular views of the entire city, the Common, the State House, Charles river, etc. The suite was huge and even had a pool table! We also loved that it was filled with unique artwork and fun items like a record player and a selection of classic records. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, right in the heart of the city directly on the Freedom trail and within easy walking distance to the Boston common, Faneuil Hall, and a wide variety of bars and restaurants right outside their doors. We started our evening at the hotel’s restaurant, Better Sorts Social Club and enjoyed some outstanding cocktails. The bar was busy, but not too crowded and had a very cool vibe. Since this is our favorite part of Boston, we stayed nearby for dinner and walked a couple blocks to Yvonne’s (which was also outstanding). Thank you to the Nine Zero for providing us with a truly memorable experience that we will never forget!!
Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear you chose to stay with us to celebrate your job promotion! We look forward to seeing you again soon for cocktails at Better Sorts Social Club.

Thus was formerly the 90, a kimpton hotel. Not much has changed. It is fine. But I’ve been staying here monthly for years, and no longer get room upgrades etc. my room was tiny tiny, no minibar. I had the sense the hotel was neither as full as it once was, or as well maintained.

The hotel itself is ok, our room was very dark which isn’t helped by the dark grey decor. The hotel is well placed, opposite where Samuel Adams is buried and close to Boston common. We’d stay here again if we visit Boston. … why does trip advisor not allow short reviews ??🤔

I will definitely come back and stay here and I hold Samantha personally responsible for me being loyal to AKA! Thank you Samantha!

This is a boutique hotel right across from Boston Common & the public gardens. Although it's a bit pricey, we chose it because you can walk everywhere from here---Little Italy, financial district, the Freedom Trail (a must do!), the harbor, Chinatown, etc. The metro system is a 10-minute walk. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was big, comfortable and super nice. We had a view of the office building next door, but that was fine with us as we spent the days exploring the city. They have happy hour every day with complimentary beer and wine. Would highly recommend.

This hotel is right across from the Boston Common and a quick 10-minute walk to Faneuil Hall, which is why we chose it. There's a metro station at the nearby Government Center and an Avis car rental pretty much right outside the hotel, so this was ideal for travelers. The hotel was very well decorated and our room was clean and relatively large. We were on the 11th floor and had an amazing view of Boston, especially at night. The staff was professional and courteous and the area felt safe at all times. We had to leave for the airport (Logan International is a 10-minute Uber ride away) at 4 am and did not have any issue at all. The hotel in general, and our room in particular, was very quiet. Considering we were in the middle of Boston, we were happily surprised. We were a family of four and loved the walkability to everything we wanted to see in Boston. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Sadly, we were disappointed in our stay at the AKA Boston Common. The hotel is nice enough, and well appointed. But we had a few issues that needed to be addressed. One was corrected (I couldn't find the controls for the automatic drapes), but two issues didn't get resolved at all: the thermostat didn't work properly so we either roasted or froze, and the hand-held shower didn't work at all. This was in a handicapped room. Every night we had to ask for coffee pods for the next morning, which had to be delivered by the maintenance staff because they are not kept at or near the front desk. There was a lack of adequate connection points for our electronics, strange for a modern and upscale hotel. The location is fantastic: next to a pub, a short distance to Cheers Bar, across the street from an old and famous cemetery, and very close to such landmarks as Boston Common, the first public school in the U.S. and a couple doors down from the very posh Omni Parker Hotel (birthplace of Parker House rolls and Boston Cream Pie). The location more than compensated for what we felt was lacking in the hotel. In spite of our disappointment, I would recommend the AKA Boston Common because it is so well situated.

The hotel called and, with less than 24 hours notice, canceled our reservations for two rooms for last weekend that we’d had for months. They cited “mechanical issues.” While I understand certain events are beyond their control, they made zero effort to offer any sort of alternatives at other properties or compensation for our inconvenience. We had to find a Saturday night reservation elsewhere at the last minute, and paid hundreds of dollars more than our reservation rate. We were extremely disappointed at their lack of accountability for this issue and will never stay at an AKA property because of it.
