This is the second time I've stayed at the Charlesmark because I love the central location, and the rates are the best in the city. The rooms are very comfortable too. This time, however, the staff at the front desk were very cold and impersonal, both at check-in and check-out. Not rude. Just very emotion-less, or even sad, like someone...

When I first entered my room, Mozart was playing. Very softly. Very nice. It was coming from a music audio channel on the television, which was connected to a pair of stereo speakers in a wall, and also, I later discovered, from a single speaker with its own volume control in the bathroom. Someone at this hotel must be into...

This hotel is in an exceptionally good location for tourist visitors to Boston and the price is extremely good given where it is. The front (road) facing rooms are noisy so if you are a light sleeper book one of the rear rooms - but the view onto Boylston Road is fun for people watching!! The breakfast is a tad...

The good - Logan airport express drop off and pick up just across the street. Metro station next door. Best central location for Boston. Boston Fitness Center nearby for those who want a full service swimming and fitness center. Breakfast is limited to bagels, doughnuts, fresh fruit, and coffee... but perfect to get you going. Computers available for guest use....

We spent a night at the Charlesmark Hotel on our way home from abroad. We have a niece in Back Bay, and wanted to see her while in the city. I priced the hotels in the area and was dismayed at how much a night would cost. The Charlesmark was quite a bargain in comparison, and the reviews were encouraging....

Located next to the public library! Can't beat the location. Truly high end look interiors, with adequate room. Best for singles or a couple. Has a happening bar on the 1st floor. Best of all, a great breakfast is included.

We stayed in a small room with a window facing a wall. That was not a problem as we spent very little time in the room. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Our room was clean and sufficient for our needs.

Quite a nice little hotel in a great location. Our room was quite small without much of a window. Parking is a 8min walk away which would have been good to realize when we drove up and searched for the entrance. Front desk staff was really nice and helpful. The continental breakfast was pretty lean with a toaster, some bread...

The location cannot be beat; right in the heart of Back Bay in Boston, within walking distance to many great restaurants, bars, etc. The rooms are really small, with just a bed and a tiny desk area with folding chair. There is no closet; just two small coat hooks. Do not stay on the first (main) floor if you plan...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
