I took a week for myself and stayed at Studio Allston for an in-town escape. Location is much better than anticipated access to Boston than I thought. I didn’t go anywhere actually. I was in a corner suite facing the river. I actually moved the furniture around because none of it made sense to me as there was a dining nook in the bedroom and extra cozy chairs in the chill space. Also they covered up some of the artwork, which is the main draw of the place, so that wasn’t super great. Otherwise room was clean, bathroom was great, bed was soft. There was only one garbage can and no coffee maker, but that’s ok because they have a pretty decent breakfast bar. Staff was all very nice, and I would ABSOLUTELY stay here again. The real winner is Casa Caña, the GEM of a Mexican restaurant. Literally go there and eat. Right now. Tostones. Tacos. Gourmet prepared Mexican dishes. and it’s really nice inside. I’m going there again. Soon. Maybe like tomorrow. I want tostones.…
Though I have stayed here several times previously, our recent stay at Studio Allston Hotel on the 14th (Valentine's Day wkend) was the BEST one yet! The entire experience from the moment we checked in was spot on!! Many thanks to the entire team at this fun, funky, and fabulous hotel for always making us feel welcomed and special. >> We love Studio Allston!
We were on a visit of nearly two weeks, and it was extremely pleasant. Room was well furnished and clean, staff were both very friendly and very efficient. The only issue was for those of us without a car, and hailing from parts south; it is a long walk to the nearest MBTA stop. We used Lyft a lot, which we might not have had Boston's winter weather been so characteristically bone-chilling.
Recently spent two nights at this hotel right before New Year's. You won't be disappointed but do not expect anything over the top. Good: - Parking: main reason I chose this hotel was because I wanted to be as close to downtown Boston while having free parking in a lot -- not a garage with a valet -- and this hotel has that. Plus there was plenty of spaces so never a shortage - Breakfast: was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast, which some hotels have gotten rid of during COVID. The breakfast had waffles, hard boiled eggs, fresh pastries, yogurts, fruit, protein bars, 4 kinds of coffee and 3 types of juices - Clean and COVID safe: hotel was very clean, all staff was wearing masks, plenty of signs to wear a mask indoors (there is a mandate in Boston) - Staff: front desk staff, though limited in number of staff - was very friendly, helpful, on hand 24/7 Bad: - Room selection: I booked directly through the hotel and when I checked in they asked if I wanted to upgrade to a room on a higher floor so I did for $25 extra per night. Given the hotel was not full, it was frustrating that they placed me in room 505 (on the top floor) which is right outside the elevator, the ice machine and the housekeeping quarters. I asked for another room and they promptly moved me to 510, a corner room. Not sure why they wouldn't place me there in the first place. The "view" is supposed to be of the river but really it is a huge surface parking lot next to a river. - Soundproofing: I live in a NYC apartment and was very surprised at the poor soundproofing. The windows are terrible as you can hear every car passing by even from the 5th floor. I could also hear everything in the hallway and the people next door - Maintenance: Not sure what the hotel was before but would not be surprised if it was a former chain hotel like a Comfort Inn or Ramada. There were lots of scratches in the hotel - and the bathroom had a pipe that constantly was clanking for 3 three days. Good or bad depending on what you are looking for: - Location: In the Allston neighborhood of Boston, the hotel is right on Soldier Friends Road which will bring you into downtown Boston in 10 minutes. Great if you are driving. Difficult if you are using public transit. Not a ton of stuff right around the hotel but within a 2-3 min drive there is.…
Front desk was extremely friendly and accommodating. Ping pong and large Connect 4 in lobby was fun. Casa Cana, the hotel restaurant, was excellent. Due to Covid we brought the food to our room. Table and chairs in room made dining easy. Breakfast was better than average. Parking key! We will be back.
