I recently stayed here on a one night business trip. I chose it for proximity to my meetings but was pleasantly surprised by the good sized and contemporary looking rooms. Free wifi is always nice and they have it in the rooms not just common areas. Ground floor under renovation and no room service meals available right now. Gym is... More

We loved our stay at Ames. Good price when compared to other hotels. We paid about $200/night plus parking. It was a beautiful room with great view of the harbor and city lights. The windows are small but this allows for privacy. The glass shower and overall the bathroom was gorgeous. The location is PERFECT. 5 minute walk to two... More

I stayed here to specifically do the Freedom trail and the rate was good. The Old State House is right there. I believe that the rates are/will be a lot higher once the lobby renovations are completed. The deal we found on Booking.com was good so we were happier. The rooms are very nice, very clean, very modern, and the... More

This hotel is close to so many things to do in Boston. 30 minutes walk pretty gets you to anywhere in the old town and a solid 40 minutes will get you to Newbury Street. The view from the corner king room was great. Great room internal ambience. You can even look down on the street when going to the... More

Great location. Excellent staff!!!! Andrew at the front desk was absolutely amazing and extremely hospitable. He took VERY GOOD care of us. Breakfast was really nice. Dana was also wonderful at the front desk! It is a small boutique hotel, which offers in my opinion, more of a personal level of service. Concierge really helpful. Rooms were really nice and... A very nice hotel, just over the Old State House in Boston. Our room ( 803) was big, light, and with an outstanding view over Boston center. The only downside is the reception on the 2 floor, but that's a detail.

We checked into the Ames for one night on our way back from Maine. We LOVED IT. Love the decor, love the amenities. The staff is so incredible nice. The Ames Boston Hotel is a unique combination of being a very historical building with very contemporary, minimalist rooms. The location was great for us since my husband cannot do a lot of walking. It's near two "T" subway lines & lots of tourist sites, not to mention right by a stop on the Old Town (hop on, hop off)... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
