The Green Turtle is a floating bed and breakfast as luxurious as it is unique. Set in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard on Boston Harbor, the Green Turtle offers an expansive view of the Boston skyline along with the comfort and amenities of a modern bed and breakfast. The USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), the Bunker Hill Monument and the Freedom Trail are a short walk away. You can take the water ferry to numerous points along the waterfront. There are dining choices from bagels to world famous dining. The Green Turtle houseboat and yachts were designed for comfort above all and the only reminder you are floating in Boston Harbor is the sound of the gulls, motion of the sea and the reflection of the ocean dancing on the ceiling. It is delightful starting your day sipping coffee or enjoying a cold beverage after a day of sightseeing while sitting on your dock chairs or aft deck watching the harbor traffic and city skyline. The Green Turtle Floating Bed and Breakfast offers 2 boat choices. The Green Turtle I is a houseboat offering two private and separate suites and each has 1 queen sized bed with luxury linens. Each suite(Loggerhead and Sea Turtle) has a kitchenette and a private bathroom en suite. Each suite sleeps 2 or reserve both suites for 4 people. Green Turtle II is a 45 foot motor yacht which sleeps 2 - 6 people. She has 2 private queen staterooms with bathroom and shower in each stateroom, a full sleeper sofa in the living area, a galley and dinette and a great aft deck with comfortable outdoor furniture. Your suite/yacht is stocked with gourmet coffee, teas, juice, yogurt and water. We deliver continental breakfast. Staying aboard the Green Turtle Floating Bed and Breakfast is a unique way to visit Boston. All boats are docked in marina slips and are moored permanently during your stay. Wifi and basic cable TV. The boats are air conditioned and heated. Come Float With Us!

For the average price of a Boston hotel room you get a great room with wet bar & outdoor space on the water! Jon is a Concierge Level host. Upon arrival, he assisted with my luggage, gave me an orientation and then proceeded to share with me valuable tips on attractions, restaurants and transportation. Jon was always available by phone/text. There are two equal sized units in the Green Turtle houseboat. The rooms are similar size to a quality hotel. Comfortable bed, two chairs, side table, hutch as a closet, wet bar with microwave, small refrig w/frz & coffee maker, The Bathroom & shower with seat is great. The houseboat was exceptionally clean with all components in good working order. Amenities provided was impressive: Peets Coffee, teas, creamer, yogurt, juices, water and breakfast pastries. Jon offered to refill anything I might need. Wifi worked great, wall mounted TV with Roku, thermostatically controlled AC unit and base board manually controlled heat. Green Turtle location is AMAZING, berthed on the last dock in the Charleston Marina with sweeping views in every direction. The Marina is within walking distance to ferries, shuttles and services. The Marina houses many high-end yachts. It should be noted, the houseboat is anchored on a two-sided dock. When the other side of the dock is occupied, it impedes the panoramic view. Regardless, the view at in every direction was lovely and I enjoyed seeing the neighbor yacht up close. I highly recommend the Green Turtle!

This B&B felt like you were visiting old friends, John & Karen were the owners/hosts, just around the corner, if you needed them. Slight water motion of the house was ever so often and felt like a gentle rock. Supplied every well, clean, plenty of room for a couple, water ferry a few blocks away, no need for a car. Water ferry was the best, under $4 for 2, to DT Boston, dropped you right by the aquarium, and would run you back when ready. Charlestown Marina where the B&B is, very safe, plenty of walking, few restaurants, great place to unwind after the hustle of Boston

This was out third stay at Green Turtle in five years, second on Green Turtle II.
We enjoyed it as much as the first time!!
Jon & Karen are two of the best hosts you will ever meet, feels like visiting friends.
Arrived on Friday after great lunch in the North End. Jon & Karen met us at the gate of the marina to assist with getting our "stuff" on board. Everything was clean and welcoming. Even with the state of the world these days, we felt very comfortable and safe on board. Hand sanitizer and wipes readily available. Jon & Karen both in masks when we met.
Nice afternoon on the aft deck, watching boats coming and going. Stayed on board for dinner with charcuterie board, bread and desert we picked up after lunch.
On Saturday (4th of July) after breakfast (scaled back some in these COVID days, but hot, yummy and delivered by Jon each day at our prearranged time) and some more relaxing on the aft deck, we took a walk to the North End for lunch. We passed the USS Constitution just before noon, and got to experience the 21 Gun Salute!
After another great lunch in North End, with pizza in hand for dinner, we walked back to the Green Turtle II. Spent the rest of the day on the aft deck (it is a GREAT spot), again, watching the coming and going of boats. There was a full moon that was beautiful, then the private fireworks started (city sponsored were cancelled)!
Sleeping on a boat is a great experience. You get rocked to sleep by the motion of the boat. Not too much, but enough to get this gal to sleep easily.
This was a great way to spend a weekend. Looking forward to our next visit!
Thank you Jon & Karen for everything!

We stayed with another couple on the Green Turtle II yacht, and it was a great, private way to spend a night on the Boston Harbor. It was a hot weekend, so the AC indoors was much appreciated until later in the night when the outside patio deck was cooler. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful with all of the ins and outs of the boat, and we felt more than comfortable being on the water for the night. Breakfast was a nice continental selection of homemade pastries (less substantial due to COVID - understandable), and check out was a breeze. We will be back!

As a family we were due to have a big celebration for my parents 50th anniversary, however those plans were foiled by COVID. So we cooked a weekend on the turtle for my folks. They loved it, and said the best part was the generosity and kindness of the hosts.

I have to say I’m organizing I couldn’t have dealt with more pleasant hosts. Detailed to the last drop! I would definitely recommend staying here, after all during these times you want hosts who got he extra mile and I would 100% this small business!

Had a wonderful family Columbus Day weekend in Walpole NH. We were two couples and two young adults. Each had their own bedroom and the "kids" shared a bath while the couples each had their own on suite bath.
In addition to the ample bedrooms, there are many living areas, so we all could get come quite time. Outdoor patio with grill came in handy as it was a beautiful weekend.
The location is ideal. Close to various areas in both New Hampshire and Vermont. One day was apple picking at Alyson's Orchard then lunch in Brattleboro VT.
Another day was breakfast at Stuart and John's Sugar House Restaurant. Great waiting area in the field with tractors, corn hole and baby cow area.
Later that day, took a hike at Distant Hill Nature Trail, then wine tasting at Summit Winery.
So much more was on out to do list, but just relaxing watching some sports and dining with family also occupied our time. Very comfortable! Home away from home.
Everyone enjoyed the house and company. Hope to enjoy this house again!

Thank you Karen & Jon

Our second time at the Green Turtle was just as great as the first. Love the comfortable, cozy room, gentle rocking, wonderful Boston views and occasional passing boats.

The location in Charlestown in Boston Harbor is unique and so convenient to local restaurants and sites and easy to get to Boston. However, be sure to save time for just relaxing in the room and sitting on the deck with coffee or a drink because you might not want to leave. Also there is great walking along the harborwalk.

We loved having the convenience of an in room coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave and sink. We were sorry to hear that a full breakfast was no longer served but you probably won't miss it. The fridge is stocked with yogurt, milk, juice and Jon delivers lovely warm baked goods in the morning. Perfect!

We enjoyed a few great restaurants nearby. Pier 6 is within walking distance and has amazing Boston and harbor views and perfectly cooked baked halibut! Loved the historic Warren Tavern. Highly recommend the buttermilk chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. In the north end, loved the authentic feel of Massimino's. Try their Limincello Parfait!

Best wishes and continued success to Jon and Karen. Jon has great suggestions and is an expert on the area.

Booked as a last minute anniversary trip and can not wait to go back! The location is wonderful, the room was very clean and Karen and Jon made the experience even more wonderful! They put a happy anniversary banner on the door, and shared tips and tricks to get into Boston. The fridge was stocked with juice and snacks and breakfast was provided. We had such a wonderful experience- it is clear Karen and Jon love what they do!

What a wonderful treat to have found this B&B and to have had Jon guide us with amazing recommendations during our stay. Jon's energy and passion was terrific to make you feel at home and like you have known each other forever. The location on the pier is perfect for privacy and quietness but close enough to the water taxi to get in to Boston. This was a girl's trip but looking forward to returning next year with significant others!

Didn't know places like this existed.

First of all, Boston is beautiful.. one of my favourite places.

Spent July 4th weekend here and its a must! Green Turtle is unique made even more special by Jon & Karen. They email you on the day to find out your ETA/flight times etc and are there to greet you when you arrive. The houseboat is gorgeous, complete with amenities and drinks/snacks. Jon was kind and willing enough to go to the store to get us beer and wine and book us a taxi for our return journey. There is motion on the houseboat but its more of a gentle rock. On a afternoon/evening we would sit on the pier with drinks watching the world go by.

Had the best time and hopefully will return to see more delights of Boston and of course Green Turtle.

Thanks

Hello Jeanie, I think you will definitely find the Green Turtle suitable for 14 days in September 2017. We are in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard. The USS Constitution "Old Ironsides" is a short walk away as well as part of the Freedom trail. As previously mentioned the ferry is on pier 3 and we are on pier 8. There is also a free shuttle bus at the end of our street that takes you to North Station(less than a mile) which is a stop on our transportation system and brings you very close to the North End "Little Italy". After you are out sightseeing for the day, you can enjoy your evening watching the harbor traffic while sitting on your comfy chairs on the dock! There are numerous dining choices here in the Navy Yard. We hope to see you in September of 2017 Sincerely, Karen and Jon

There is parking right at the marina. The owner will meet you in the lot with a little cart for your luggage and take you to the B&B. You need a keyfob to get into the dock area. Very safe. You will get your own keyfob with your keys so you can come and go during your stay. I believe the lot parking was $20 for 24 hours.
