I only booked here as the nice conference hotels were all full and even though I have an expense account, I still hate paying top dollar for a dive. I've never tried a B&B while on business before and thought its got to be better than the hotel alternatives. I'm really glad I stayed. My room was equivalent to a... More

What a lovely place to stay! My sisters and I booked the Parlor Room 1 and couldn't be more pleased. The room was exceptionally clean, welcoming and had plenty of room for my two sisters and I. The decor is quaint, beds comfortable and the atmosphere is delightful. James kindly greeted us when we arrived and gave us tips to... More

Booked Gilded Lily for my son's graduation from Northeastern University and it was a great find! Good thing my son has found a job in the area so my husband & I will have a reason to return! Location was great - close to T stations - both green and orange. Located in a quiet neighborhood so it was easy... More

My wife and i had the opportunity to spend an extended weekend in Boston and we were fortunate to find a room available at this wonderful property. We always prefer staying real neighborhoods to corporate hotel corridors and The Gilded Lily fits the bill perfectly. Thanks to Boston's excellent public transportation, it was also only a short walk through a... More

We stayed at the Gilded Lily for 6 nights for the Boston Marathon. We wanted a place that was walkable to the expo, finish line and bus pick-up for the marathon and found this charming B&B in the South End. I had emailed James several times with questions leading up to our stay and he promptly responded to all my... More

A handsome house conveniently close to the subway system and walkable to the sights of Boston on a quiet residential street. The spacious guestroom was comfortable and well appointed with a kitchen shared only with the room next door. A well-stocked fridge provided a good breakfast. James, the congenial host, was happy to iron out any problems (not that there... More

My daughter and I spent a long weekend in Boston when I flew up to meet her after her internship there ended, and our stay at the Gilded Lily was one of our trip's highlights. A charming home located in a beautiful neighborhood, walking distance to the heart of Boston. The room was comfortable and the breakfast goods were delicious. This was my fourth visit, and I always feel like I am home.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
