Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.

We always stay at the Bostonian before going to Europe and on our return. It was so nice to arrive and have Alex at reception remember us by name. Incredible!! Great location with a very good restaurant. Our only comment for management is that the windows throughout the property need washing. Also the hallway carpets need to be shampooed. Our suite was immaculate! See you next year.

Two years ago we stayed at the Bostonian and loved it. The location was perfect and the staff were friendly and helpful. This time the location was still wonderful but the staff totally disappointed. The front desk staff were cold, the maid was rude telling us that just because our room wasn't cleaned by 3pm we should just go back outside and calm down! And the concierge on a Saturday wasn't there for questions at 9am, 2pm or 4:45pm. And the front desk couldn't even help us find a drugstore--we ended up asking someone on the street--not cool when you're paying almost $500/night. Would no longer stay there.

Great location. Could walk to anywhere. Close and very walkable to north end and harbour areas. Quincy and Faneuil Market across the street. Union oyster house is right around the corner. We even walked to Fenway park. Clean and good staff. Booked a room with a balcony. The balcony was small but it was nice to open the doors and get fresh air.

You can’t beat the location of this hotel, but service (in person and over the phone) was painful at times. We needed to adjust our dates because of Hurricane Dorian and had to call numerous departments/numbers to get the right person. We were told on one occasion that reservations ‘wasn’t open yet’ and we should call another number later in the day. Really? Beyond that, we specifically requested a room with a garden view. We arrived to 2nd floor room overlooking the trash bins right next to the elevator. We were told it would be $20 more a night to upgrade to the room we actually requested. Felt like a bait and switch. The desk staff took 20 minutes to ‘run’ the key up 1 floor so we could move rooms. The refrigerator only has room for ‘for purchase’ items so forget about storing you own items in it. Also, have some patience as the hot water takes a while in the shower. Thoroughly unimpressed given the price point.

Rachelmcw, thank you for your feedback, as a valued guest, your opinion means everything to us! We are truly disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Your experience is certainly not the norm, as we strive to ensure all of our guests are satisfied with their accommodations. To address your request for a view, we do our very best to honor requests, however such requests are not guaranteed due to inventory and room type constraints. The Bostonian offers several different room categories at different price points that provide different room sizes and views of either Faneuil Hall or the North End (city view). It is unfortunate that your original room view was subpar. As we at the front desk experience high volumes at times, there should be no more than a 15 minute wait time. We would like to truly apologize for the wait you experienced while in the process of changing rooms. In regards to the pre-stocked mini-bar, we attempt to offer the convenience of items/amenities at your figure tips; however additional refrigerators are available when asked to allow your own cold storage. We do wish that another opportunity is presented to us to represent the Bostonian in our true colors.
