No it was not dirty, but for example the wallpaper was peeling off in multiple spots and areas; the back of the room door showed obvious wear and damage from the closet door, which has a tendency to bang into it; the 1980s corded phone can still be found in the bathroom (which is no big deal but to my point, time to update); and the electrical outlet by the bed barely held the phone charger plug in place... We asked at check in if kids could go to the bars and they said yes, first two nights were fine but on the third night we were told both bars were full when we returned to the hotel after the Red Sox game... We were tired and looking forward to a cold drink/air con in the bar... Asides from this a lovely hotel with perfect location, loved Newbury Street, the Bittersweet coffee shop beautiful with fab coffee and both Eva restaurant and Piatini lovely...
