Really disappointed in this hotel and the service we experienced. We stayed here bc our son was getting married at the hotel. I left multiple messages trying to make reservations in the room block and no one ever returned my calls. I was told to contact the wedding coordinator but it was someone different every time and no one ever seemed to have " any record" of the wedding being booked. Once we arrived at the hotel, we requested to have rooms close to one another and even though the names and info were taken, we were put on 3 different floors. Our daughter had requested a crib for her room and it was not there when she arrived. She called requesting it be delayed bc the baby was sleeping and instead they brought it up "immediately", knocking on the door and disturbing the baby. We requested ice and it was never delivered. The website stated that a complimentary breakfast and WiFi were available but we were told they were not included with our reservation (nor were they ever offered). The service (or lack thereof) was what I would've expected at a chain hotel, not someplace that is supposedly one of the top hotels in Boston. The wedding was nice and the food was good, but the service was definitely lacking.

Dear mupetvet, Thank you for posting your review regarding your recent experience at Mandarin Oriental, Boston. What you experienced is not up to Mandarin Oriental standards and I offer my most sincere apologies. It is our utmost privilege to have served as the location for your son's wedding and the lack of response and knowledge you encountered prior to arrival, followed by the incorrect placement of your requested room assignments and culminating with the lack of, followed by the disruptive delivery of your daughter's crib are all disappointments you should not have encountered. I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you personally and request that you please contact me directly via email at philippk@mohg.com to let me know when a convenient time for us might be to speak. We welcome the opportunity to work to regain your confidence in us and on behalf of myself and my colleagues, again offer my sincere apologies. Best personal regards, Philipp Knuepfer General Manager

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for 2 nights. We joined the reward club when making the reservation online and chose free breakfast and free streaming wifi as our perks. We had breakfast served to us in the lobby both mornings and it was delicious. Our rooms were really nice and the bathroom was super! Deep soaking tub and shower with a rainhead and handhelds. Really nice. Our very helpful person at the front desk was Erika and she helped us with several things. It's very conveniently located to the Prudential Center which then connects to the Copley Plaza. And since it rained a ton while we were there, we could go shopping and plenty of restaurants to choose from without going out in the rain. Only thing I would add is that the A/C vent is in the closet (weird I know), so if you can't get the room as cool as you want open the closet doors. It's plenty cold in the closet! I will for sure be a repeat customer.

We were VERY disappointed with the hotel. I registered a complaint with the front desk and never heard back. Here are our gripes: 1) for the money we paid, the room was dated. The HVAC did not work properly - it was freezing in the bathroom and hot in the room - we did speak to the front desk about this and they told us that they could turn off one of the vents but that they couldn't really fix the problem. Not acceptable. 2) The couch in the room had big white stains on it - pretty gross. 3) The vents for the A/C were filthy. 4) There wasn't even a complimentary bottle of water in the room - really? 5) The restaurants and bar were closed. I understand due to covid, but we should have been notified ahead of time. So the restaurant and bar are closed but NO ONE at this hotel was wearing a mask - no compliance at all. 6) The technology was subpar - a couple of USB ports but hard to find and not well located. 7) There was a scale in the room with no battery. 8) The refrigerator didn't work so they wheeled in a free standing refrigerator. I could go on but i think you get the picture. And to have NO ONE respond to our issues other than the HVAC (because we talked to them in person rather than over the phone) was really bad. I have always wanted to stay at a Mandarin Oriental and was so disappointed.

My daughter and I traveled to Boston in July, 2021. The Mandarin is centrally located in Back Bay, and you can walk to the restaurants and shops in the area. Brett at the front desk was amazing - helpful and accommodating with directions and reservations. The hotel does not have restaurant dining yet, due to Covid, but they are very accommodating and will bring meals to your room, and offer breakfast in the lobby/lounge area which is very well appointed. The beds are comfortable and the room was spotless.
