Had to go to MGH for early AM testing and stayed here. Perfect location and we decided to stay 2 more nights to do some Boston sightseeing. Right at the red line mgh stop, clean and had everything we needed. Quiet even though it is right at Storrow drive and the Longfellow bridge. The only thing that could be improved... More

When we first drove up to the hotel, we were a bit aghast at the location: stuck between a major intersection, a freeway and a metro. But once you close the hotel door, everything is left behind and the hotel is actually very quiet. Feels like a small old fashion hotel, in a beautiful old building, with modern amenities. We... We recently had to spend a couple of days in Boston for eye surgery. We had to be at the hospital early so we were advised from the hospital about this hotel, due to its close proximity to Mass General and relatively low price. I am so glad we took it. Its an older building but it has all the... More

I was looking for a place to stay after a Red Sox game so I wouldn't have to drive home and then back into Boston for an early business meeting. Hotels were all booked or outrageously priced, and I didn't want to stay in a hostel or other place with shared bathroom. The John Jeffries came up on a "Best... More

Basic, suited my needs. I was in town for business, and for some reason there were no rooms available for less than $500. I found the John Jeffries House, and the price was right. I had a room in the basement, and it was fine. After a long day of meetings, I just wanted to relax in my room. But... More

John Jeffries house is steps away from mass gen hospital, a metro train stop and lots of parks. It is also very close to a number of good restaurants along beacon street and supermarkets, delis, drugstores are all within walking distance. The rooms are very spacious and beds very comfortable. our two twin beds and kitchenette were comfy and clean! we had a basement room, and upon arrival, the windows had been left open, which provided a lovely breeze with the unexpected scent of some nearby flowering trees - wish we could have bottled that scent - it really made for a lovely stay! We had a super quick check... More

A friend and I were making a not-planned-much-in-advance trip to Boston, and appalled at the hotel prices. We stumbled upon this place and booked it. Best decision ever! Caddy-corner from the T stop, so very handy for exploring the city. One side is Charles street, fun to walk around on with plenty of restaurants. The other side, over a pedestrian... More

I was visiting Fisher College with my daughter. This place is a short walk from the school. I was in a studio room that was priced reasonably. I think this is one of the cleanest places I have stayed. It reminded me of my favorite B & B in Switzerland. The reception area and the two ladies there were so... More

This is a lovely hotel and had the best price for the quality and location, which was very convenient to the Back Bay and the North End. It is accurately represented on their website. Staying in Beacon Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
