This was a stay was made using a TravelZoo voucher. The first--of many issues--was that when we arrived at 3:30, we were told check in was at 4:00 and we should go the the restaurant and wait--they will call us. They did--at 4:40pm. The second issue was that the staff person checking us in had to go to the "office" to determine how to use the voucher to check in. A copy of both the TravelZoo voucher and the follow up confirmation was shared with the desk staff person. The room was pretty pedestrian, considering that this was supposedly a deluxe king. The bed was as stiff as the staff--great for bouncing quarters. Not so for sleeping. Upon check out the next day, i was told i would receive a receipt--for incidentals, as the room was prepaid, via email. The email never came and I called the hotel--twice--to get a copy of the receipt--still no receipt. At approx. 8:00pm, I received a text asking how I was enjoying my stay--I checked out 8 hours earlier. I asked this person for a copy of receipt and was horrified when I saw that I was charged full price for the room and every single add-on you can imagine. $30 for an Urban Experience fee? What is that? They charge for internet access. They charge if you stand in the lobby too long. When you get charged for nondescript things for which you get no value, you feel abused. I texted the person immediately to protest the bill and was asked to send the voucher--which was sent within minutes. Then another person contacted me, asking for proof via a copy of the credit card bill I used to pay TravelZoo. The only way this reservation could be made was by TravelZoo. This entire experience with this hotel was painful. It was only one night, but it was one night i'll not likely forget, as it marred the entire weekend.…
We (my husband and I) arrived on the 2nd January at approx 9:30pm and were staying one night, on our way home to Ireland. We had travelled from the West Coast and were exhausted. We were met at reception by a wonderful ambassador for the hotel called Alexandria. She was so friendly and welcoming it felt like we were coming home. Our room was stunning, and spacious. We ate in the hotel bar that evening and the food was delicious. The bar itself, is absolutely stunning. It was "old worldy" and the decor was beautiful. The next morning we had breakfast in the hotel bar again and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the weather did not play ball on the 3rd and it rained all day. We went over to the Copley mall and the Prudential Center which has amazing shops and it right by the hotel. When it came time to leave, we were sad to leave the hotel. It is a very special place, with a wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff. I have recommended it to anyone who has listened, and I will definitely stay there again. Thank you to all in the Fairmont Copley Plaza!…
Beautiful and comfortable! The only drawback was we were unable to get into our reserved hotel room until exactly 4:00 PM. I guess I can’t complain because check-in is 4:00. However, since we arrived at the hotel around 2:00, there was a lot of waiting around. For the most part it was a positive experience.
Visited Boston to celebrate our Boston-based son's birthday and returned to the Fairmont. We love the gilded age granduer of the place, which is so fitting in such a historic city. The room was spacious and elegant and the staff was topnotch -- capable, professional and hospitable. I want to specially mention Tarek Scott, who spoke to me when I called to inquire about making a reservation. Her graciousness and competence is what persuaded me to stay there instead of experimenting with a different property. Absolutely the right call.
We purposely chose Fairmont Copley Plaza for its fantastic location in Central Boston - and it really is perfectly located to see all the sites. It’s located about a mile from the start of the Freedom Trail, about a mile and a half from Fenway Park and is literally opposite the Boston Public Library! This is an impressive and beautiful hotel with a grand entrance and staff who are eager to please. Everyone we spoke with were courteous and friendly. Fortunately our room was immediately available on arrival (check in time is officially 1600hrs but we got there an hour early) and we headed up to a very spacious room on the fifth floor. The king size bed was enormous - but didn’t take up all the space in the room. With high ceilings and beautiful decor, it was a lovely room to walk into. We didn’t have a view but that did not bother us. The bathroom was modern with a lovely rain shower head and the water was piping hot! The bed linen was crisp but the pillows were a little too soft for my taste (certainly nothing to mark a place down for) The room decor is congruous with the hotel itself but it was not shabby or dated - and everything was clean. So why not 5 stars? Well - there were a few little niggles I had about the place that for me, were disappointing. The front door lobby doors were always staffed by doormen but I found myself opening the doors more than they did. We needed to print up some tickets as we’d inadvertently left the info at home and we’re told to use the business centre. Only one computer out of 3 was working and we were charged a dollar for each sheet of paper printed out. This is all small change, but when you’re told at the beginning of the stay that there’s a $30 daily fee to cover the cost of the fitness Centre and ‘complimentary’ water in the room, I felt it should have covered that too. The other significant thing was that the room itself was not particularly soundproof. We could hear someone coughing in the room adjacent to us as well as TV noise. Nothing at all was muffled. I doubt there is much the hotel can do about this as it is an old hotel but it is something you should keep in mind. Finally, when we got the bill for the room there were a myriad extra taxes. I will be contacting the hotel to find out where each tax goes. I understand that there can be state tax and city tax but it felt like yet another hidden charge on an already expensive stay All things considered though, it was a lovely hotel and we had a fantastic time in Boston with the Fairmont as our base of operations.…
Incredibly beautiful property , truly charming bar and restaurant most staff excellent, beautiful room minor issues -keycard entrance to stairwell frequently inoperative, doors on one of the elevator would not open on first floor, had to call twice for laundry pick up, requested wake up call did not occur on last night, occasional issue of some front desk employees being more concerned with administrative tasks than customer service these are all administrative issues which can and should be corrected
Had our honeymoon here it was amazing. Great place amazing staff!! The staff is super nice. We had valet service that was good because it was snowing and wet and we did not have to go out into the cold. Great experience all around
We had the best time staying at the Fairmont. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring the city. Everything is within a 30 minute walk and there are some gorgeous restaurants around. Nikki behind the desk was so friendly and extremely helpful, a real asset to the hotel. There was nothing that was too much to ask. Sheryl, the hostess in the bar, was brilliant and incredibly welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. It wasn’t too noisy in the room, just the usual traffic you’d find in any city hotel. The tea and coffee offered was replenished each day and delicious. We loved that the hotel offered take away cups and real mugs for the room. I can’t even describe how lovely the hotel is. The building is beautiful and well maintained. I can’t praise the hotel enough. We would 100% book to stay here again. The staff really made our trip that little bit more special.…
We hosted a company wide offsite meeting and reception at the Fairmont at the end of January. From the beginning of the planning process to the completion of the event, the experience was absolutely lovely. Lauren and her team were very focused on the attention of all details and making sure the process and day of event went as seamless as possible. A huge thank you to Lauren, her team and Ramon, Julio, Betty and Ramel during the evening reception. Their warm hospitality was greatly appreciated. I look forward to hosting additional events there in the future.
I stayed at this hotel from Feb 14-17. I was on a business trip and booked the hotel via my employer's online booking tool. This is what happened at the hotel the night of Feb 16. At around 10 pm, after I was asleep, an announcement came over the speaker in the room. I didn’t know there was one. It was loud enough for the whole block to hear. It said that we were to wait for a alarm indicator after the message on whether to evacuate or not. Apparently there was some emergency though they didn't specify. The announcement was repeated two more times. 10 mins later the announcement said that the Boston Fire department has been called, and there we were to remain in the room. I was relieved in a way that this was a fire and not some nut job with a gun. By this time I am dressing up and collecting my valuables in case we have to evacuate in a hurry. Then after 30 mins or so during which I was sitting at the edge of the bed, they announced an “all clear”. I went to bed and it was a restless night. From then on the hotel has made no explanation and everyone is acting like nothing happened. I checked out this morning and the person behind the desk offered no concern or apology about what occurred. To top it it all she was showing attitude when I asked if she can email me the receipt. Completely wrecked my sleep. Checking online I see that this same hotel, Fairmont, had a fire on Feb 8. So, avoid this "luxury" hotel. It is not worth it.…
