We stayed here for 3 nights on our family Christmas trip and what a gem this place was. We typically stay in chain hotels but a friend recommended Newbury Guest House & I'm happy we listened! Rooms were perfect and staff very helpful and friendly. Typical breakfast (offered in the connecting Crepe restaurant next door - muffins, toast, pancakes, cereal, eggs)... More

It's the sweet spot to be in Boston. It's practically smack down in the shopping district of Boston. It's the cheapest you could get amidst the swanky hotels around without compromising the comfort of your stay. The place is very clean and the staff is very accommodating. It's 3-4 blocks from the train station and very accessible to all modes... More

Loved the location, the light from the window, the firm mattress, the delicious (complimentary) breakfast, the coffee and herbal tea available all day, the pleasant desk staff, the generous and pretty room and the location--did I mention the location? The only downside was...voices carry! Walls are thin and TV (& conversations) bleed right through, room to room. Luckily I was... More

Just returned from a visit to Boston; we stayed at a wonderful Inn, the Newbury Guest House, lon Newbury Street in the Back Bay section of Boston, in the heart of Copley Square. It is a lovely guest house that has the advantage of being located in a top area of the city, within walking distance of many places as... More

I stayed here in December with my husband. Great location near shops and subway and walking distance to the downtown area and park with the freedom trail. The room was clean, not massive but we didn't expect it to be. Cleaned daily. Nice breakfast in the creperie. Great trip to Boston.

Service - I arrived at the Newbury Guest House at 7:30 am. And although check in wasn't until 3pm, they had a room ready and checked me in, they even urged me to have breakfast next door. The staff went out of their way to welcome you and provided guests with good recommendations on sites, restaurants and the like. Rooms... More

Beautiful guest house in the heart of Newbury Street, Boston. The whole guest house had a warm, comfortable feeling, and was perfect for relaxation, or as a base from where to see Back Bay. The location was vibrant, with a friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of nearby restaurants and bars. Our room was spacious, and we were lucky enough to... More

You believe it only when you stay there. In the quite heart of Boston, surrounded by the best small and friendly restaurants, above the best used bookshop (The Raven), all this in a like rural inn. The staff was helpful and warm with answers to every question. the room was spacious and comfort. We loved it.

This old brownstone converted to a guest house is beyond charming! The location is the first big plus for choosing the Newbury Guest House. Newbury Street is filled with eclectic shops and great little restaurants. It's a pedestrian-filled neighborhood in the back bay, and the hotel is lovely. Our east coast smallish room had a beautiful old fireplace against a... More

We spent 3 nights and wish we had stayed longer. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff exceptionally helpful. The location is awesome. Lots of lovely restaurant options on Newbury Street and only a short walk to many attractions and Back Bay Station, which made our departure to New York by rail easy.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
