Traveling to Boston for college move-in during a pandemic could have been an unpleasant experience, but it was made so much better by our decision to stay at the Eliot Hotel. The location was great and everything about our one-night stay was similarly outstanding. First, we felt completely comfortable with the hotel's cleaning and other COVID-related precautions during check-in and throughout our stay. Second, we were upgraded to a suite, which was a pleasant surprise, and we particularly appreciated the extra space since we were eating takeout meals in the room. The suite itself was attractively decorated and comfortable, with all the amenities expected of a luxury hotel. Finally, I can't say enough about the staff, all of whom were friendly and helpful. I was concerned that using the hotel valet for parking might be inconvenient since I needed to go out first thing in the morning, but my car was waiting for me on the street before I had even called for it, and I was able to coordinate with the valet to return it for a few hours before I checked out. My one critical comment has to do with the bathroom, which was elegant-looking but tiny - in fact, one of the smallest hotel bathrooms that I've had. But the positives far outweigh this one negative, and I decided not to let it impact my 5 star rating. We will definitely stay at the Eliot Hotel again.…
We drove up to Boston to help move our daughter into her college apt.The days were filled w/ endless furniture shopping and lugging but the nights were spent blissfully at the wonderful and charming Eliot Hotel.Location - A+ on Commonwealth Ave next to thr Harvard Club and around the corner from Newbury st. Staff- A+ lovely, gracious and helpful,rooms- A+ we stayed in a suite which felt like a luxurious urban hideaway , the layout is great although the bathroom is ...umm petite? This hotel is an absolute gem; small ,quirky and old world. It may be my favorite hotel worldwide - and can't wait to go back...
I spent a single night here as a getaway gift from my husband. The doorman and front desk clerk were both very kind and helpful on arrival. I did notice a stale cigarette smell when I got to the 7th floor and into my room. I just assumed it was an old building and maybe this had previously been the smoking floor. The smell didn't last as I entered my room, it didn't bother me or my sinuses or anything, and I honestly thought very little of it. That night I dined in the restaurant; they creatively established the bottom floor rooms into semi-private dining areas as a way to socially distance customers for COVID19 precautions. The food was pricey but delicious, I recommend giving it a try, just go prepared to drop a pretty penny. The dining staff were kind and very professional. Everything went great, got to shop right there eon Newbury St., valet service was smooth, checked out with ease the next day. I am giving it a 4 star because I was charged $200 as a smoking penalty. I couldn't tell what the charge was so when my husband called they informed us that it was because I allegedly smoked in the room -I was pretty upset - I don't smoke at all. The person we spoke with on the phone basically laughed at us saying that no one else had used the room since a week before my arrival so it had to have been me. She said she would have the room inspector contact us but implied it was effectively a lost cause because they knew it was me. At this time I did not feel that the Eliot Staff was trying, in any way to help us sort this out. However, despite the discouraging phone call, the inspector apologized and they refunded the money to us promptly. I wish they had the tone "lets figure this out" and not "you know what you did", but I can't fault the entire hotel because one staff member was having a bad day. I do recommend staying here, I hope to take my family here in the future for a night in the city; just note, if you smell smoke, report it!…
I visited with 7 girl friends for a 50th Birthday that was supposed to be an overseas retreat. Since it's during Covid we carefully rethought it all. We loved the European charm of The Eliot. We booked several rooms and a suite for us to use together. I called and Sandeep at the front desk ensured we were all on one floor close together. He helped us to organize early access to decorate the room for the big surprise. Pascale at the hotel was also in on our surprise. The rooms were impeccably clean, lovely and perfect for our celebration. We felt "covid secure" throughout our stay and we all enjoyed a fun and healthy weekend. We will return for sure.
We spent the holidays in Boston with my wife and two of my adult boys. We came to receive a grandchild and didn't know for sure when she would arrive. So we ended up staying about 2 weeks at the Eliot in a 2 bedroom suite. We know Boston very well and this location is one of the best, in the middle of where you want to be. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we were actually sad to say goodbye. The property has a great Boston flavor, cozy but very comfortable and not short on amenities. Will definitely return
