The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa's service garners appreciation for its attentiveness, although it isn't without occasional lapses, especially during busy periods. Its amenities, including a praised spa and diverse dining options set against stunning mountain vistas, are widely celebrated, albeit some guests consider the prices steep and the pool access limited.
While the hotel's location wins hearts with its scenic charm and proximity to attractions, opinions on the rooms and cleanliness are divided, with some pointing out the need for better maintenance and more thorough housekeeping. Despite concerns about value and the need for updates, the hotel's historic atmosphere continues to enchant visitors.

We visited the Grove Park Inn as the guest of Park West. I had always wanted to spend a weekend here and was excited when I heard this was the location of the Park West event. Then I read the reviews! I was so anxious because they were not very good. Let me say this hotel is wonderful. Every person on the staff that we have encountered have been so pleasant and helpful. The space is beautiful, the scenery is beautiful and you can stay the whole visit on the resort and be happy. Our room was clean, decorated beautifully and well furnished. My only complaint was our mattress was too hard for my liking. We ate lunch at Edison’s and it was fantastic. The rest our our meals was with the group nut still fantastic so that speaks for the catering. Be sure to explore there is much to see and do here. We look forward to visiting here again.

We booked this hotel based on reviews of the spa, without having ever seen the property before.
The location is great - close to downtown Asheville with its many dining options and beautiful scenery and places to shop and hike and paddle. And the look of the hotel is spectacular - so much stone and a breathtaking view out back.
Our room was in the historic section, and it was nothing to write home about. Small by today's standards, sparely furnished and decorated. The bed pillows were the flattest pillows I've ever had in a hotel, no substance to them at all. We ordered room service breakfast, which was quite expensive ($78 for two meager lukewarm breakfast dishes, a carafe of coffee with just enough lukewarm brew for two small cups, and just enough creamer for the same.) When the server arrived with breakfast, we were surprised to see he was carrying it on a tray, no roll cart. Since there was no table in the room, and only one side chair, we had to eat breakfast off the tray on the bed. Really low class for such a nice hotel! And when we mentioned it to the server, he said he was only the server (in other words, not his decision or responsibility to see that we had anything better). The bellman also had a similar remark when we mentioned something about the room (I'm just the bellman). We feel the staff needs a bit more enthusiasm in the customer service area.
However, we ate at Edison's, and the food and service were both very good. One evening there was a very good singer/piano player in the main lobby.
Now, for the spa... The spa is an incredible, beautiful, luxurious place to spend a day! We had massages, swam in the pools, used the waterfall hot tubs, the cold plunge, had lunch out on the patio, sat and read in lounge chairs - the works! The staff at the spa were all very attentive and polite, and the place was spotless.
Now, in order to enjoy the spa, you have to be a guest of the hotel. But it's worth it to endure the meager rooms (the newer wings are nicer but a lot more expensive) to be able to go to the spa and spend the entire day enjoying the amenities. You can even come and go up until 6 p.m.

Location is great. Views are stunning. Hospitality is nice. Restaurants are a plenty. Overall a really nice hotel.
Only issue is furniture in main areas like the lobby and in your actual hotel room are just shabby. Everything needs to be reupholstered and cleaned up. The place needs a face lift. Rooms are very small for the price you are paying and some rooms don’t have great views for the price you are paying.
Our bathroom vanity was bolted to the wall and the feet didn’t touch the floor. I guess that’s okay but looks weird and unprofessional.
I think if the hotel was updated it would feel even better to stay here.

It would be interesting to know how the Spa drives demand for Grove Park Inn business year ‘round as it is the Spa’s reputation has endured for over 20 years and services are consistently good - such as great pedicures for both my husband and myself by Heather.
There’s no fine dining option on the property although the prices would contradict that expectation in Vue 1913. Food quality was lackluster. Service was too slow.
During summer, the food service staff are stretched as the resort is packed, yet the Bar service staff are well trained and most accommodating - 5 stars there. And the Dueling Pianos at Elaine’s was great fun.
The Omni would benefit from an independent research study of guests to determine experience dissatisfactions as there are several areas where service falls short for prices charged. The property needs attention to maintenance in certain areas. Rooms are basic but priced at a premium. Housekeeping staff were very responsive with direct asks, however requests made of the front desk for housekeeping services were spotty. It’s time for Spa facilities to be refreshed/updated.
IF a study is commissioned, management should take the recommendations seriously and act on them. We were unimpressed with signs on chairs in public walkways with each one stating to not sit in as they are artifacts. Ditto for pool tables. If historical education is the goal, have seating and billiards replicas made with explanations of construction, style, etc. include QR codes for more info and yes, the ability to sit and/or play a game.

We've been visiting this establishment since 2013, every year for the holiday season. It's always been a wonderful place with the annual competition, hundreds of Christmas trees, beautiful decorations, multiple places for photo opportunities, and the energy of all of the visiting tourist. This year there is no competition, very few trees, limited decorations, not a lot of energy around the place. Despite all of this, they continue to charge their exorbitant $30 parking fee for the holidays. They are basically charging you to come eat in the restaurants! They need to take a page from downtown and give free parking during these post hurricane times. You don't realize it's a rip off until you actually get there and have checked into the garage, before you realize it's not a very festive place during this year. Since it's almost as basic as the rest of the year, they should be charging the parking fees they have during the non-holiday season. It's just not worth it and I would recommend waiting for another year and seeing if they improve before visiting

The view is gorgeous. The historic rooms were nice. However we had to contact the desk numerous times to “try” to rectify the bright white obnoxious strobing light in the detector. Our first night resulted in very little sleep. After two maintenance visits to tape the annoying light, it was still keeping us awake at night. The tv is a pay for view for pretty much every channel except the advertising for Omni. It is not the high quality we expected based on our previous stays. At the price paid per night, valet parking should be included not charged $38 plus tips to the drivers. None of the shops were open nor were all the restaurants open for choices. Room service does not begin until 6:30 pm with food arriving after 7:00. Sorry to say, we won’t be returning.

I never give low reviews. We stayed at the Grove Park Inn to take advantage of a full day at the spa, 25th anniversary. I have been to the spa many times off season, before Covid and it was such a special treat! This time the pools/jacuzzis were murky, grounds was dirty , people had coolers and no service for any type of drink. The beautiful waterfalls and fire pits were not on! The hotel stay had clothes from the previous guest left in the drawers, bathroom door wouldn’t clos, toilet ran all night and we could not see out to the grounds from the dirty windows. Extremely high priced for the spa and hotel for the costs. If this is your 1st time for the spa it is worth 1X FYI get a service such as a pedi or massage, it is less expensive than paying for a day pass, treatment includes the day. It is worth staying at dark to see the lights in the spa. Service charge is 30% on your bill, it is the split tip to all servers. Parking is charged to room, do not double pay and incidentals is held on your cc for several days. I think that is it just don’t have higher expectations.

We decided to stop over at the Grove Park Inn during a recent trip. I have wanted to see the Gingerbread houses for years. So we made a reservation online. The next day I called to be sure they knew we were traveling with a small dog and that I cannot have any feathers in the bedding. I am very allergic. They assured me the feather pillows would be removed and they would be ready to “welcome Chichi”.
The welcome to Chichi consisted of a green ribbon that he had to wear (to show he was a registered guest) and a $250 fee to us for bringing him. I expected to have to make a deposit against any damages, but no fee was mentioned. And, $250 for an overnight stay is ridiculous!
I have to say, the hotel was beautiful and comfortable. The public rooms are welcoming. The food is good. Our room was average, but spacious and clean. The pillows however, WERE FEATHER.
BOO Grove Park! NOT OK. You are supposed to be a high end hotel.

Upon arriving, you are greeted with a beautiful building and Great Hall area. The rest pertains specifically to the Vanderbilt Wing: once in the room, you can quickly tell where cost-cutting measures are. There are no bath-tubs (except for a few rooms), the showers have no grab bar, no foot rest, and only 1 small shelf to hold 2 peoples items, toilet paper holder is about a 120 degree angle behind you that you struggle to reach it (yikes). Too much "open space" in the room that could be utilized more effectively. The coffee/tea maker is on top of the dresser....seriously? That's a very bad idea for people with really nice clothes. Curtains (I believe used to keep out the light) don't function as required, the morning Sun arrives "above" the curtains so we were up at 6:30am every morning :( Let's move to the elevators, everyone stands outside the doors trying to determine if they need to go UP or DOWN to get to the lobby. I saw this every single time we approached the doors. The 1 sign (located in the middle of 4 elevators and on some floors no where near the doors) needs a twin. Please post 2 signs, 1 next to each set of elevator buttons.
We are just 2 normal people trying to enjoy a vacation...this was our 3rd time at the Grove Park Inn over the last 12 years.

I am currently staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, in a suite for 900/night for the next three nights (Christmas). The front desk staff is excellent and every encounter I've had with valet/restaurant workers/other staff has been great. But everything else is it's own version of a disaster. Apart from the glorious facade of the original building, this hotel is outdated in every way possible...The smell in the hallway is sour. My junior suite room has fissured tile panels/popcorn ceiling straight out of an office building in the 1980's. The bed had no comforter, and the sheets are like scratchy sandpaper, as if they haven't been changed in 30 years. The. Bedding. Is. Abysmal. I've stayed at the Biltmore, Kimpton and Restoration hotels in Asheville (Biltmore is dated but at least the bedding is comfortable... the other two are newish and nice enough). I brought my family this year to the Grove Park, thinking that the "Christmas vibe" would be worth the 5k I am paying for three nights. I was wrong. I mean.... if the bed has no comforter and what feels like 30 year old pilled and scratchy sheets....is the very pretty Christmas tree and charming fireplaces in the lobby really worth it? Not for me. Additionally, if you try to get a drink at the lobby bar at 5pm, there is a line of up to 30 people waiting. The two servers covering the surge of people in the lobby are so completely overwhelmed with orders, (they're doing the best they can) but can't keep up with the demand. We waited up to thirty minutes for a drink. I have to get through the next two days, which happens to be Christmas. After that...will be staying elsewhere when I return to Asheville.

You are coming to an historic inn when it gets the most attention so I know it’s more expensive. The National Gingerbread Competition (as seen on Good Morning America for years) is cool. The houses and villages are on display. In the past hundreds of entries are on display but fewer last year.
The Inn has about 25 Christmas trees through the property and is equisitely decorated. You’ll love it if you like the holidays.
The Biltmore at night is fantastic. There is also some nice hiking in the mountains (Ie, Chimney Rock) but for a more relaxing time just drive a ways on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Possibly in the direction of Mount Mitchell. It’s a scenic drive anytime.
We enjoy dining at Vue 1913 which is there fine dining restaurant and the food at Edison’s is very good for something more relaxed. There are many artists in the area so we always do a little shopping while we’re there.
Have a great visit!
I’ve found the staff there to be very responsive and so would call them. If you want the manager of the hotel to know you could call that person, as well.
There are more places to choose from in the Asheville area.
