Nestled in a location celebrated for its stunning ambiance and views, The Omni Grove Park Inn captivates guests with its inviting atmosphere, complete with live music and cozy fireplaces. Service at the hotel generally earns high marks for staff attentiveness and professionalism. The spa and other amenities are lauded for their luxuriousness, though some guests feel the rooms fall short of expectations, citing outdated decor and conditions not commensurate with the premium pricing. Cleanliness is a strong suit, yet the value proposition has been called into question due to room quality concerns and additional costs.

We visited the Grove Park Inn as the guest of Park West. I had always wanted to spend a weekend here and was excited when I heard this was the location of the Park West event. Then I read the reviews! I was so anxious because they were not very good. Let me say this hotel is wonderful. Every person on the staff that we have encountered have been so pleasant and helpful. The space is beautiful, the scenery is beautiful and you can stay the whole visit on the resort and be happy. Our room was clean, decorated beautifully and well furnished. My only complaint was our mattress was too hard for my liking. We ate lunch at Edison’s and it was fantastic. The rest our our meals was with the group nut still fantastic so that speaks for the catering. Be sure to explore there is much to see and do here. We look forward to visiting here again.

We stayed in the historic section and paid the upgrade for a mountain view room. With windows that fully open and moveable screens, sunsets were amazing. The beer selection and food at the Edison restaurant were great. The octopus appetizer was unique, excellent, and enough food for an entre. Enjoyed the Hillman ESP so much, we stopped at Hillman Beer on our way out of town to get some to go. We were able to get into the Edison for dinner without reservations (fairly early) twice, but needed a reservation to get a seat outside on the patio. We lucked out and got the corner table by the railing and the view was amazing!
The staff at the Grove Park were great. The elevator operators were unique and fun conversationalists. The coconut ice cream at the Pink Pig was our favorite to eat sitting in front of the big fireplace. The breakfast buffet was good but at $29 per person seemed over priced to me.
We enjoyed the fact that the Hop On - Hop Off trolley stops right in front of the hotel. It was a great way to explore Asheville. The tickets are $35 each but good for 2 days. There are 10 stops throughout Asheville so you can cover a lot of ground very efficiently. And the trolley driver does a running commentary as they drive. Different drivers have different stories, so it's not too repetitious when you pass an area a 2nd time.
We found the feather pillows took some fluffing and folding to customize for a comfortable sleep. Being in the original part of the hotel, the room had heavy wood doors and furniture, giving a historic feel. The bathroom had an updated sink and a tub with an added glass enclosure which worked pretty well for showers. Just a minor note, some of the tub caulking could be re-done. Overall an excellent stay.

Stayed here for a wedding. Greeted nicely by the valet gentlemen which try their hardest to keep the cars moving but when there are 4 weddings and others trying to check in, it can be a challenge. The front desk was professional and we were notified when our room was ready as we were early to arrive (before check in time due to rehearsal of the wedding that was to take place the following day.) Customer service txt us and provided us with our keys in a fair amount of time. Bellmen were very helpful with all the wedding prep, from the car, holding it everything until our rooms were ready, to bringing everything back down to the venue, etc. Very impressed with all the service. The room was clean, but there were a few details overlooked. The bed skirt (which are a pain) were every which a way and far from looking like a 4 star resort and the a/c vent as well as the vent in the bathroom were extremely full of dust, there was a sock under the dresser, a candy wrapper on the ledge of the mirror in the bathroom. COVID wise I felt completely safe for those who have a concern. The mattresses are VERY firm and two pillows for each queen bed. The bathroom there was a step up to so watch out in the middle of the night that you don’t stub your toe(s). There needs to be a highlight perhaps. The linens were all fine quality. The darkening drapes provided for a very nice dark environment to sleep especially being where all the cars drive into the hotel. Never saw any headlights. The room was very quiet especially since it was an adjoining room. Normally you can hear your next door neighbor so clearly through the door. Not here. Very quiet!!!! The door to the room shuts slowly and some doors shut while others do not. Our room did but the bride’s room did not automatically. The ‘lobby’ of the third floor of the Vanderbilt wing is wonderful with tables and areas to relax, chat with friends in a quieter area than the lobby. The lobby is always bustling with plenty of guests. The two large fireplaces with rocking chairs is a great way to warm up and relax. The grounds provide a pleasant stroll and overlook the mountains and city below. The hotel has a few shops, restaurants, and the best coffee just made for them at the Omni. They do have self parking and valet parking options with different pricing for both. You do drive through a neighborhood getting there with speed bumps along the way. There is a spa and golf available as well. Great resort!!!!

Finishing a three-day stay. Despite most amenties being closed by staff shortages for flu, spotty and weak wifi, etc. , the hotel insisted on charging its $25/day "resort" fee. The self parking lot in/out gate did not work properly for three days, but still insisted on charging $15/day fee. Despite housekeeping services cut by 30%, no room service, dirty elevators, etc., refused to provide reduction to room rate charges. I get there is an emergency flu situation and times are difficult, but this hotel wants everyone except itself to adapt! Stay away.

We have stayed at the Grove Park Inn several times. Our room was nice, nothing fancy. Our package included champagne and turn down service. Those were nice additions. But, the spa has always been the selling point for me when deciding where to stay! After this trip though, it probably won't be anymore. As always, the pools and other amenities were great! I had scheduled a "head in the clouds" massage, which I had at least once before and really enjoyed it. Today was very disappointing! The therapist paid very little attention to my head and neck. She spent a few minutes on my feet, legs, and hips which I didn't think were part of this package at all. I don't care for my feet and legs to be rubbed, but love my head and neck massaged, which is why I choose this particular massage! She also spent a great deal of time opening and closing cabinets and/or drawers and not touching me at all! I don't know if she was getting stuff out or putting it up! Either way, I paid a lot of money for the little attention I got! I would almost say she spent more time not touching/massaging me than she did actually massaging me. She even left the room at one point, she wasn't gone long but when I pay over $200 for a 50 min massage, I expect every minute!

I arrived at approximately 2 PM on 1/2 to check in early since it was raining, and I had just checked out of another hotel in Asheville. Upon my discussion with the front desk clerk, I was informed that "a woman called last night and cancelled both the room reservation and spa reservation", and that the request was honored. Fortunately, the same young lady who answered the call from the previous night was the person with whom I was speaking. She removed the cancellation, along with the cancellation fee, and checked me in early. Prior to the end of our discussion, I predicted that my ex would likely call to see if her attempt to cancel was successful, and I requested anonymity and privacy in this regard. I was assured that a notation would be placed on the chart to abstain from revealing any details about me, the room, or the reservation.
Several hours later, my room phone rang and it was my ex. She had been directed to my room despite my request. After our conversation, I called the operator who stated that my ex "knew the password, so she had no reason to abstain from putting her through to the room". The alleged "password" question offered by your establishment, which I was not given the opportunity to set up, was merely a confirmation of my home address. Anyone able to perform a Google search could obtain this information, and regurgitate it on the phone! Additionally, the operator stated that she was unaware of any notation on the account for privacy or anonymity; thus, there is a glaring disconnect between your front desk and operators. Not only was my peace of mind and privacy violated, but my location was also surrendered by confirmation over the phone call. My neighbors told me that she appeared at my house in my absence later that evening. The aforementioned scenario is completely unacceptable. Once I returned home, I received a call from your guest services with an offer to return to your facility at some point this year for a "complimentary one-night stay in a Premium Mountain-view Room". So let me get this straight, I should return and spend more money with you via the restaurants and guest services to remedy this situation, while this uncomfortable experience was still charged in full? Or even charged at all? Not cool, Grove Park!

We stayed at the Omni 1.5 weeks ago and I deliberately left it this long to do a review in case anyone from the hotel contacted us. This is our 3rd visit to the Omni Grove Park Inn in the last 3 years, the first thing to say about the Omni is that it is an amazing historical building in a stunning setting. However we always seem to come accross the same problems when staying here.

We were well prepared for the COVID restrictions - we had no problem with face masks, we opted not to have our room made up, we were ok with less staff than usual due to less guests, we accepted that we had only 1 restaurant option for dinner and because it was really busy we had to take a 9pm reservation and we understood that the Spa restaurant was closed even though we paid high dollars for our spa treatments…….. As I said none of this was a problem to us as we appreciate the difficulty all hotels face in this current climate.

However, every time we stay here, we are always frustrated by the room. The Omni is all about the setting and it's stunning views. Our first stay back in 2018 we bought a mountain view room only to have a view of a tree. After a long walk back to reception with our bags we were given a room with a view of the mountains. Our 2nd visit in 2019 we had a view of a wall. Our 3rd visit 2 weeks ago we paid extra for a panoramic view room, however, although we had a good mountain view to the front, the side view was overlooked by the next door apartments and we had to keep our curtains closed as people could see in. At check out we were asked how our stay was, we pointed out we had paid extra for a panoramic view but in reality it was just a mountain view. We were informed someone may or may not be in touch. A week and a half latter nobody has been in touch. The hotel really needs to be more clear on room descriptions, a panoramic room at one end of the Sammons wing is completely different to the other end. A mountain view on the lower floor is much worse than the upper floor.

Another serious note was the only option for breakfast on our 2nd morning was a buffet in an enclosed room which cost $29 pp. The previous morning we had a la carte breakfast in the Edison restaurant which has a large covered outdoor seating area and cost us $15 each. According to the Texas Medical Association eating at a buffet is considered high risk for COVID 19 infection, not to mention when you have 2 large outdoor seated restaurants why would you choose the indoor option. I appreciate that a buffet is a more profitable option for the hotel but I would rather they didn't gamble with my health to make money.

For a 2 night stay for 2 people we spent a total of $1,941 including food and spa treatment. It feels like we were shaken down for every cent possible and feel we at least deserve a call!

I’m so sorry to hear your experience fell short of ideal during your stay with us. Our guest experience is immensely important to us, and our teams work hard to accommodate all requests and diligently follow-up. That said, we investigated this matter on your behalf and someone from our Front Desk team will reach out to John F. (the gentleman who checked you out according to our records) right away. Please also know that we have passed your comments on to the Director of Rooms and the Director of Food & Beverage for consideration in operational updates moving forward. In regard to the breakfast options, we did shift breakfast from Edison, craft ales + kitchen to Blue Ridge with new chef-inspired food stations served by attendant only (not a traditional buffet) to accommodate guest requests and provide more socially distanced seating, while we optimized Edison’s operations to open 7 days a week to deliver a wider breadth of options (note: this starts as of tomorrow). We hope you will join us again in the future and we exceed your expectations.

The Grove Park Inn is no doubt one of the most iconic places to stay and visit in Western NC. But the service during our stay was less than stellar. We checked in on a Thursday, and as of Saturday at 2 pm, our room/bathroom had not been cleaned or refreshed. They knew about the problem on Friday afternoon. The oversized fire places are one reason we stayed here. At 8:30 pm the fire was out and not relit. Also returned to the self park garage to find a sign telling us it was full. Management did comp us for one night, but the service culture and professionalism in running this historic establishment is in need of a huge refresh.

We spent 3 nights at the GPI, staying in a executive suite. Our final bill was shy of 3k and I think we expected to have better service. The room had a king sized bed and a single shower/bath. There we almost no towel racks. We had to request extra pillows, towels, and toilet paper, and the cleaning staff failed to make our beds up after the first night. The bedroom lacked appropriate lighting. The livingroom furniture seemed old and worn out. The whole suite needs a new look. The views were stunning, but we had to move the furniture so that we could sit in front of the window. It's time for Omni to spruce things up.

We found the front desk staff to be surly and they seemed like they had had enough of the tourists. Understandably, it was the final weekend of the gingerbread house display and the lobby was crowded to capacity. We got to the hotel at 4 for check in and were informed that check "starts at 4" but that our room was not ready. Apparently check in starts at 4 but can run until 5 or 6. We had to wait an hour for our room and we were not the only ones.

I've been to the spa many times over the years, and since Omni has taken over, it seems like the quality has gone downhill. There were only 4 women's showers for the whole spa, and no bathing suit dryer. The towels stored outside by the co-ed hotub were impossible to find and them they had been stained by a leak int he cabinet they were stored in. Of course, the pools are wonderful and it is one of the nicest spas in NC, but it seems to be going downhill rather than being improved.

For the price and the promise of a Luxury resort, they are falling short.

We had heard glowing reviews from friends about The Grove Park. I will admit that the time of year and the weather have impacted my opinion of our stay.
First, the reception experience was fine with our bellman escorting us to the room. Since this was a holiday, the hotel was very busy and we were not able to get a dinner reservation before 9:45 at night, including Thanksgiving. Our holiday meal was fine but overpriced for what we got. Other meals were similarly expensive. Our 4 night ran close to $3k all told. Unfortunately, it was cold and rained most of the visit so going outside was a limited experience. Our wives visited the spa and found it to be first rate.
Our somewhat basic room was on the floor just below the main hallway in our wing and as such we could hear every footstep overhead and when a luggage cart or other wheeled item went by it was quite loud. This continued nightly until midnight or so when things settled down.
I have to expect that when the weather is better and plants are in bloom the whole experience would be improved and if one got a quieter room on a non holiday week the cost would more closely match the value of the visit. Too bad as we we expecting a bit more.

You are coming to an historic inn when it gets the most attention so I know it’s more expensive. The National Gingerbread Competition (as seen on Good Morning America for years) is cool. The houses and villages are on display. In the past hundreds of entries are on display but fewer last year. The Inn has about 25 Christmas trees through the property and is equisitely decorated. You’ll love it if you like the holidays. The Biltmore at night is fantastic. There is also some nice hiking in the mountains (Ie, Chimney Rock) but for a more relaxing time just drive a ways on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Possibly in the direction of Mount Mitchell. It’s a scenic drive anytime. We enjoy dining at Vue 1913 which is there fine dining restaurant and the food at Edison’s is very good for something more relaxed. There are many artists in the area so we always do a little shopping while we’re there. Have a great visit!
