Good location if you want to kick around downtown. Staff was fabulous. I really liked the hotel super clean early check-in was available and the breakfast buffet was very nice. Was upgraded to a Mountain View. It really was lovely. They have a very cool rooftop bar.

This hotel is very typical of a Hyatt Place - large lobby area, free breakfast (currently prepackaged), and clean rooms. The location isn’t quite as good as other downtown properties but you can walk anywhere in about 15 minutes. It is right next to the interstate so the noise could bother some. If you are facing the interstate there are nice views of the mountains and Grove Park Inn in the distance (attached photo is from a 7th floor room). On- site parking ($16/day) is very convenient. The biggest disappointment is that we were unable to visit the rooftop bar, The Montford. They don’t take reservations so you have to be in line 15-20 minutes before they open to get a spot. It would be nice if some sort priority was given to hotel guests. For that reason this property gets 4 stars.

We booked the Hyatt Downtown because it was recommended as part of a destination wedding group. However, the rooms at this hotel are not created equal. First night, we were given the 8th floor in a room facing the noisy interstate (?) roadway. It was not a scenic view for sure and the noise from the interstate (?) roadway kept us up all night, and wasn't too pretty to look even if mountains were in the background. We also booked the king size bed with the pull-out couch, but the room as a result was small. The room we were first assigned was not cleaned in the bathroom as well as I would have liked, the glass on the artwork needed to be Windexed as well as the door glass, and floors. For some reason, the 8th floor had a bunch of noisy guests as well -- who we heard all night. While not dated, the room did not look fresh and quite frankly, we were disappointed because it looked more like a nice Holiday Inn, as opposed to hotel we were spending $200+ per night. Anyhow, the next day, Wonderful Michelle offered to move us to a quieter spot on the 6th floor which was not facing a roadway. It was a two queen room with a couch, which seemed twice as big, and much cleaner. If it had not been for Michelle, we would have immediately left the hotel and stayed at the Marriott nearby, which was only 3 years old. I believe your room choice at this hotel does make a difference. I personally don't like sleeping in my bed next to a busy, noisy bustling motorway. Once we were switched by Michelle (thank you!) to a different room, we had a great experience. Something else that surprised us was the hotel also charges $16 per day to park there. I was unaware of that fee. That adds up quickly. Last, there is a pool there but it is a sort of "dipping pool."

The worst expreince I ever had in the history of my Hotel stay.I had better stay at Days inn and that too 25 years ago best custromer service. your front desk staff no issue. As I come into the rom the floor was so dirty carpet was not vaccumed, Bathroom was dirty hair all over on the floor . there was an ear bud from the last guest still on the floor that they didnt bother to pick up LOL. There was hair all over the shower from the privious guest shaved. I called the Housekeeping right away . One Guy come in to vaccume but the way I saw him vaccume he just vaccume the front area and leave. the worst vaccume I ever saw a housekeeping person doing it. I could now see how bad they do the job when NO one is looking.
1STnight we get Ice from the Ice machine, the next day after my room was clean the Ice turned water adn it was still in that bucket of water no one bother to clean it. YI ignore it. thinking they forgot.
2 nights went by and each day the same worst experience beds were not made bathrooms were dirty not clean hair all over soap bottles were on the floor they wont pick up empty bottles., hair on the floor and they wont clean and no one care to clean. 3rd day I got tired of seeing room dirty I complained to the housekeeping and the manager and he says he will make sure and promised that room is clean.
I come back in the evening same thing Nothing was clean candy wrapper was on the floor ear buds were still there, Ice bucket was still fill with water not clea, there was one emoty bottle that fell on the floor they never bother to pick up or trash it, I mean thse are not little things you cant miss it . we had 2 rooms and same issue in both rooms. we stopped asking to clean how much can you ask these people didnt care at all. on the day of checkout to talked to the housekeeping manager he was in the back and never bother to come and apolize. thier general manager offered 100 credit. and this was 4 nights and we paid over 2000 for the rooms. that was a joke . I

I will never stay at Hyatt and make sure all my family and frieds knows how worst the Hyatt exprenice was . one word Discusting Housekeeping!!!!

We booked a room here for Wednesday, October 14, 2020 just for a quick birthday getaway. My husband booked a mountain view room on the top floor, which was allegedly handled at check in. Unfortunately, when we checked in and got our room key and went all the way to the top floor, we opened a room that someone was obviously already staying in. There were personal belongings everywhere, but luckily the occupants weren’t in the room (thank God!!). We went back downstairs and the manager and check in employee were very friendly and offered us beer/wine for our troubles. Neither of us drink, so we declined. The manager came over and said he was going to “take care of some things” for us due to the inconvenience. They got us into a new room after sitting in the lobby with our luggage for about 20 minutes. Our new room was on the 7th floor (not the top) and was significantly smaller than the one we originally booked/entered that was occupied. It was also next to a freeway intersection that was loud to the point we had to turn up the included noise machine in the room and the air conditioning unit all the way up to try to drown out the traffic noise.

We thought we could save the experience with a trip to the rooftop restaurant. No dice. The restaurant was completely packed all night from open to close and it’s the only way you can see the beautiful views that are showcased all over this hotel’s promotional listings. We ended up ordering room service from the restaurant, which was a $70 disaster. I had to leave the hotel to pick up actual food for us from a nearby restaurant since the chicken wings and charcuterie board we ordered from the rooftop restaurant were tiny and not great quality. Oh, but the fun doesn’t stop there! The cool thing about parking here is that the restaurant apparently takes up ALL the hotel guest parking and it’s nearly impossible to park at the hotel once the restaurant is open. Oh and they charge you SIXTEEN DOLLARS to park your own car across the street from a homeless shelter and walk to the hotel in the dark.

I paid $6 for two diet pepsis at check-in, which is fine and expected at a hotel, but again, absolutely nothing was “taken care of” for our trouble with check in and we ended up with a crappy room, awful food, paid self parking (btw there are signs for a valet but there is no actual valet 🙃) to the tune of $400+. Breakfast was also awful and not on par for the Hyatt brand. I would never stay here again. We’ve had great experiences at Hyatt hotels all over but not this one.

For the record, I left this review on their Facebook page. Someone replied and asked me to email the location with specifics to work towards a resolution. I emailed them on October 28. It’s now November 8 and no one has replied to the email.

Stay Report - 2/4 to 2/5

Location: Not the best located of the downtown hotels, it's located a little north and west of the main drags and in a somewhat derelict neighborhood right next to a Salvation Army but if the weather is nice you can still walk the half mile to a mile to the best restaurants, breweries etc. that Asheville has.  The area is at least quiet and the hotel is right off I-240 so it's easy to get around.

Hotel: Really nice.  It's a modern HP high rise that's head and shoulders better than your average converted Amerisuites HP.  There's a huge lobby with a breakfast area along with the standard snack bar next to the check in desks, two computer business center, indoor pool and fitness center (which is still open right now).  The hotel used to have valet parking but now its self park in their adjacent garage.  The price of self park at $16 a night is a little steep though.

Check In: A friendly agent checked me in and thanked me for being a Discoverist and offered me my two bottles of water.  Every agent I dealt with her was very friendly.

Room: Again way nicer than the average HP though definitely a little on the small side (for a HP, not for the average hotel room).  I was glad to find a really nice bathroom with hot shower, living room area, new TV, outlets next to the bed and a spacious work area.  The wifi worked well and soundproofing was not an issue.

Dining: There is a rooftop bar and restaurant that's currently open and you can bill food to your room.  Do note it requires a separate elevator from the lobby.  I went for a drink and snack and service was good but the prices are exorbitant (who in North Carolina thinks they can get away with charging $11 for Crown Royal?).  The hotel's breakfast is currently grab and go but it's actually still decent.  They had cheese omelets and sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches along with cereal, yogurt, pastries and fruit.  Way better than the average grab and go during COVID.

Overall, really good hotel.  Glad it's an option in Asheville.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Place. The location is wonderful, making downtown Asheville easily walkable from this location. Parking is a bit steep for a small town at $16 a night, and there don't appear to be any other options nearby.
We had a sixth floor room - nice and spacious with a couch and refrigerator, along with two beds. Our room looked out onto a vacant lot and a Salvation Army center.
The breakfast was tasty both days, but the eggs day two were quite cold/inedible. We had sausage day one, and bacon day two, along with monkey bread and fresh berries (a nice surprise!) The elevators were excruciatingly slow.
We were excited that there was an indoor pool, but that evaporated when we tested the water - quite cold! The workout room is small, but adequate. I was surprised by the placement of the television, as one is unable to watch while using the treadmills. Perhaps turn the equipment in that direction, versus looking out over the people in the pool (kinda a creepy vibe...)
All in all, a decent option in downtown Asheville.

Just wanted to say we had a really wonderful experience last week at this Hyatt location. The staff and all visitors wore masks, there were hand sanitizing stations all over the facility, continental breakfast was creative (in brown to go bags that you could still request hot sandwiches, oatmeal, yogurt, and more). Pretty much a contactless experience. Location is ok, we walked downtown and felt a little uneasy walking back at night, but were fine. Very clean facility. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was clean, comfortable and had a nice view. The location was great for enjoying the downtown area, we never had to move our car once we got there. If you wanted to go exploring in other areas of the city the location is very handy to the highway and the main roads. The staff were all very professional and friendly and the hotel was definitely conforming to the safety rules in place for the pandemic. We got a great price on the room and felt satisfied that we got a good value for our money. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was clean and very well kept. It’s 2 mins walk from visitor center where you can get discount ticket to Biltmore Estate.

We drive a Tesla and the hotel parking has a Tesla Destination charger which is a plus for us as we were able to keep the car charged the whole night.

One thing to mention is that we booked it through Costco travel site for this stay and the reservation mentioned that it includes breakfast and $12 credit for food and beverage. When we inquired about the $12 credit, the staff politely told us that it’s something that Costco has made up but we’re welcome to get a drink/snack for free. We took a cold drink from the fridge and they didn’t charge us anything. It’s not a big deal for us but I feel that the Hotel should get this sorted out with Costco as it gives misleading info to the guests.
