Steve and Karen could not have been any more accommodating. We had an early check-in and the entire top floor which was very spacious and clean. We were treated to a beer that was brewed in-house. The breakfast on each morning was delicious and just enough to get you started for the day. It was a short and easy drive to downtown Asheville. The second day we had planned on hiking Chimney Rock but had to opt for Black Mountain instead due to a constant shower and occasional heavy downpour. We opted to head back to the B&B early to just relax and play cards. Steve was good enough to keep us "hydrated" with a couple of libations. The stay was fun and typical good conversations were had with the owners and guest around the social distanced dining room table. Just the way a B&B should be. This is a must stay!

Property's Favorite Review
My daughter and I stayed at this beautiful, historic bed and breakfast for three glorious evenings. It was a memorable trip and Karen & Steve made sure everything was taken care of. We had concerns traveling due to Covid-19 but felt very comfortable upon arrival. The house itself is breathtaking and their doggies Oreo & Ozzie are sure to put a smile on your face. The breakfasts were superb (toasted banana bread, orange ricotta pancakes and the best bacon ever!!!) Steve brews beer and we enjoyed a sour beer on the front porch overlooking the historic Montford district. There were even “wine brownies” waiting at our door upon arrival one evening. We cant wait to return. Thank you Karen and Steve!!!

This was one if the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. My husband and I spent the night here on July 18th, the day after our wedding and we could not have had a better time staying anywhere else. Karen’s knowledge and history of the home made it feel so much more intimate as we looked through old photos and articles of the original homeowners and those forward. She had stories among stories about the grounds and how the transformation of the home has become what it is now. Steve is very personable and loves to share his brewing styles with a welcoming glass straight out of the tap upon arrival. The room was gorgeous! We stayed in the Craig’s-Tom Suite and it was more than I expected. Not only did it have many rooms to chose from, (including a library/reading room), but also had a beautiful balcony off of the bedroom overlooking the Montford area of Asheville. Breakfast was served in our room and it started with fresh hot coffee which we enjoyed on that balcony while we patiently waited for those infamous orange ricotta pancakes that everyone else has also been raving about!! I would not stay anywhere else on a visit to Asheville. They are the most pleasant hosts and truly love what they do. There is nothing that can compare to a Bed and Breakfast, so when you think of a place to rest your head, think local and definitely, definitely chose Karen and Steve to accommodate you. You will not regret it.

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Lion & The Rose for our first trip to Asheville and it was a great experience. Upon arrival, Karen and Steve greeted us and made us feel welcomed by providing homemade craft beer. Between accommodating dietary requests and providing a to-go breakfast when we had an early kayaking reservation, we really feel like they went the extra mile. One of my favorite things they provided was the coffee delivered to our room each morning. Something small can really make a huge difference. We appreciated Karen’s expertise on the area and things to do. They are passionate about what they do and that was appreciated. We will definitely be back! Thanks Karen and Steve!

The antiques surrounding you in the house lend a historic touch, without feeling outdated. The dvd collection in the cabinet on the first floor landing had my girlfriend and I feeling nostalgic, scanning for movies to curl up and watch after a long day hiking the mountains outside of asheville. Karen and Steve were eager, friendly hosts. When they were needed, they were always there. When we just wanted to sit and talk with somebody, they had a sense to show up on the porch and offer us a drink. When we wanted to be alone, they were gone. My expectations were exceeded by my experience here. The breakfast was delicious. My room was quiet, cool, and relaxing which allowed me to sleep well even as a terrible sleeper. Ultimately, I don't think you can do better than the Lion and the Rose especially for the price. I highly recommend staying here.
