Detailed Reviews
When we started planning our daughter’s wedding in Asheville, NC nearly a year ago, I searched for the perfect home for our family to stay for several days leading up to and following the big event. I happened across The Applewood Manor Inn Bed & Breakfast and decided the location was perfect and the idea of having breakfast provided daily was a bonus. During the several months of planning, my daughter and I visited and stayed at the Inn a few times and were delighted with the property. At our last meeting, just weeks before the wedding, the innkeeper informed us that the Inn had been sold and the new owners would take over only days before we were to arrive. Needless to say, I was a bit on edge! What if the new owners were not able to provide the same service we had become accustomed to, or worse, couldn’t honor the reservation. My worries were completely erased by one phone call with Stephen, the new owner, and a quick Zoom meeting with him, his sweet wife Robin and their wonderful interim innkeeper Donna. From the moment we arrived we were treated like old friends and spoiled with their generosity and hospitality. Our special requests went well beyond what one would expect from the services of your typical bed and breakfast establishment and were always met with a “no problem” smile and a few surprises! We loved the historic home as we initially found it, but It was quite amazing the transformation that these wonderful people managed in such a short period of time. Fun pop art from their personal collection adorns the common areas that are beautifully and comfortably furnished and the stunning grounds have been and will continue to be transformed. Stephen and Robin are excited to plan special events at the Inn and we look forward to being their guests again in the near future. Thank you, gracious hosts, and good luck in your new endeavor!

In town for my 31st high school reunion in 2017, I booked a lovely upstairs room at the Applewood. Born in Asheville, I have lovely memories of both the Montford and Beaver Lake neighborhoods, and I wanted a place to stay that felt homey. Applewood Manor is the twin of a friend's childhood home on Griffing Boulevard, so I booked it and discovered that you can go home again, after a fashion. Breakfasts were excellent, and Applewood is in a great location - I rented a bicycle and huffed and puffed my way through the shady roads of Montford, exploring places my teenage self last visited. With a room facing the upstairs porch, I was excited to see that my door actually opened to the outside, ultimately leading to very enjoyable cocktails under the stars with friends that my teenage self last saw in person. While I know that the BnB situation is challenging for all properties in this time of Covid, I hope the Applewood can hang in there, if nothing else so that I can return for my 41st reunion.

My husband and I were traveling with our mini-doodle Daisy and wanted to visit Asheville. We looked for a dog friendly B & B and came across Applewood Manor. It was perfect since we were able to book the Cortland Cottage for our stay. We really liked that we had a detached cottage so that our Daisy would not disturb any other guests just in case she would bark. We still enjoyed the B & B experience but with a little more privacy. They had a wonderful yard for active play with Daisy. The cottage, very spacious, was ideal and Robin's breakfasts were fabulous! The owners were very available and accommodating to our particular needs. There were renovations on the historic home while we were there. I am sure it will be beautiful when the new verandas and porches are finished. We highly recommend this lovely B & B in Asheville. It's location was also very convenient for everything we planned while we were there.

My wife and I had a wonderful time! It was warm and inviting. Our room was fantastic. The bed was comfortable and the small fireplace in the room was used everyday, as were the cozy, Applewood Manor embroidered bath robes provided in the closet.
Chase and AJ were wonderful hosts and the breakfast every morning was excellent. We even turned down a friends’ request to meet for breakfast because we wanted to eat at our place.
I have already highly recommended this place to several friends and we can’t wait to go back!

Ahh - peace and quiet! This B&B sits on a large corner lot in a historic neighborhood. I wish the weather had been more cooperative so we could have walked around some more. Our room (Macintosh) was warm and cozy with a large bathroom and a balcony and we loved having the gas fireplace for the rainy winter nights. The breakfasts were creative and delicious, but we had the most fun meeting the other couples at the communal table and exchanged information about restaurants and sights to see. I highly recommend Applewood Manor and would return there for a future visit.

Recently stayed at the Applewood Manor with my adult daughter as she is considering relocating to Asheville. From the very beginning, communication was professional, timely, and responsive ... above and beyond. This is what you want and expect from a B&B !
Robin, Rain, and the team were always prompt in replies to questions about our stay and consistently accommodating our needs.
Upon arrival, the property is welcoming and impressive; beautifully and tastefully decorated in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood that is so conveniently located. It was an easy walk to downtown and a nearby river trail.
Attention to guest comfort is of the highest quality; rooms very comfortable, terrific bed, coffee/cookies in the room, and bathroom accessories make for a superb experience.
The most appreciated aspect of our stay is Robin's welcoming and pleasant demeanor "Say Yes, whenever possible!" attitude is a winner ! Their team with Rain and Rex was also exceptional.
And, we mustn't forget delicious breakfast each morning with fresh coffee or tea, fresh fruit/greens from the local farmers' market and Robin's freshly baked breads were unforgettable. Needless to say, it was difficult to leave, but we will be back many times for future visits. Much gratitude for a superb stay !!
PS. we also got to see/hear the Manor owls as well as some visiting black bears that lazily roamed through the property.... an exciting sight (from a safe distance)!!

+1
The B&B is a beautiful and serene property in a great location close to downtown and the river arts district, yet it is in a quiet historic area away from the noise. The historic home is beautiful with fabulous art throughout and the grounds are lovely. We stayed in the Courtland cottage which is steps from the main house but completely private. The cottage is spacious and comfortable. It has a shower and an oversized whirlpool tub. Bed is comfy. There’s a nespresso machine and plenty of coffee and tea. And best of all - Robin’s yummy cookies!
Check in and check out was smooth and easy. Communications prior to check in and during our stay was excellent.
Breakfast was delicious. You can eat in the dining room or on one of their outdoor porches.
The owner, Robin, is the nicest, most helpful person - and so interesting to talk with. I enjoyed getting to know her so much that it was hard to drag myself away so that we could explore Asheville. When we left after our three night stay I felt like I was saying goodbye to a friend.
All in all - 5 stars plus in every way

Perfect location: in a woodsy, residential area but walking or biking distance from downtown, parks, and trails.
We were so pleased to be welcomed by Stephen and his wife, Robin. They knew the area, recommended restaurants, could provide bikes, guides and paths, prepared a delicious dinner as well as filling breakfasts. Loved the wine list and the great conversation about the Inn's decor, food, biking, and France!
High end bedding and rooms were varied but very pleasant and private, The back patio was also very inviting.
Definitely, a place you want to come back to.

We participated in a combined cooking and wine weekend, which was one of the most magical experiences I've ever participated. We started the weekend with foraging with a local tour guide, and then cooking for several hours with a Michelin star chef. Our wine was served by a wine merchant who could tell stories about the wonderful vineyards from which they originated. This was a very special event, I recommend you reach out to the host to learn if another one is being planned!
Additionally, the rooms, both private and shared, are at a very high class standard. I had an open fireplace in my room, and cookies from the hostess was a nice touch.
I will be back!

We just stayed at Applewood Manor Bed and Breakfast for a weekend. It was fantastic. Where do I start? We were greeted by owner Robin Collins with a big smile and information about where where all of our amenities were and how they worked. Our room was beautiful, with it's own outdoor porch, refrigerator with wine, portable lantern to take out on the porch at night, and much more. Our room was nice and cool (fairly warm outside) and the bed was soft, pillows plump, and the covers so light and fluffy- if you got in bed it felt like you were on a cloud. We had our own bathroom with a large shower head, and delightful soaps and shampoos. Breakfast is at 9 with the other guests, and it's always creative and delicious. Something different every day. Robin makes her own yogurt, jam and granola - and we enjoyed a small bowl of this to start off every morning. Delicious coffee, homemade bread, homemade cinnamon rolls, frittatas, dutch babies. Everything was made with care and love and better than anything you could get at a restaurant. We were with another couple and the men did bike rides with the professional chef and biker two mornings, each a different ride in a different location. Bikes are provided. Being at Applewood Manor is a total treat. Time here is relaxed, you come and go at your own pace. The owners are around if you need anything but the time is yours and you can feel comfortable in a gorgeous home with every convenience, in a wonderful quiet neighborhood a very short distance from downtown.

I'm sure they can accommodate your request. I got the feeling that Josh was at least vegetarian. Call him and discuss your request. They grow a lot of the foods on site & accommodated us on short notice.
Yes ma'am! We allow children of All ages here at the Manor. We are one of the few that accept children under 12. Additionally, should guests need them, we have a high chair and convertible Pac-N-Play for use!
Yes but it is a significant walk
All of our fireplaces are natural gas. They are in the York Imperial, MacIntosh & Northern Spy rooms
