With all America travelling in the the 2021 Summer, our family group required multiple rooms with kitchens in an interesting location . We found a gem in the Windsor. A fantastic restoration of a building that enjoyed a history of varied uses. Each room is large containing full kitchens, great beds and washer and dryer. The rooms met our need for a place to have breakfasts in the rooms should a family group want that ability. We stayed in the Executive King suite which contains a large living room that we used to have the group meet for cocktails before embarking for dinner to one of the many restaurants within easy walking distance. We also made full use of the free parking (one car to a room), although the parking is a block away. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You do need to be aware that the hotel is on a busy street and the loading zone in front of the hotel will only accommodate one car at a time. Many of our group made full use of the nearby YMCA for an early morning workout or swim (there is a fee).

Affordable luxury in downtown Asheville. This is our second stay and we will return. Free parking is a major plus as compared to other hotels. This small charming inn has all the amenities you would expect like robes, slippers, great bedding, lots of hot water and toiletries. What is not usual is the spaciousness of the suites, not just an bedroom and bath, but also the full size appliances including a washer dryer. This would be our choice for any extended stay. The local gourmet coffee provided was wonderful and even though our bedroom was in the quiet interior (our request) there was natural light via a beautifully decorated 2 story light well; birch log pendants, pebbles and moss. Our check in and check out requests were graciously accommodated. The service is very personalized and we appreciated the advice to make restaurant reservations in advance for excellent dining in walking distance. Notably the after hours security guard was also helpful and polite. A few doors down is a french bakery were our early riser bought quiches and pastries in enjoy in the suite while the other slept in. The adjacent wine bar is a convenient source of a happy hour bottle. We do selfishly hesitate to broadcast our pleasure for fear of not being able to get a booking next trip, but this is business that deserves kudos. We travel a bit but seldom share reviews.

Don’t hesitate - this place is amazing! We traveled with our toddler and infant and stayed at the Windsor for 5 nights. We had a two queen suite, with a pull out couch and we brought our own pack n play (never asked if they had them, we just always bring our own) . Here are some things I think others may find helpful. 1) location truly couldn’t be better 2) yes the floors creak but it didn’t bother us, and the kids slept thru it too 3) there are complimentary snacks and drinks in the lobby which was so nice and convenient 4) the staff is incredible 5) the kitchen has the basics - we actually needed a couple items to cook our meals and the staff brought them up for us! 6) we also asked for an extra blanket and they brought two options for my toddler 7) you get a small discount on biltmore tickets 8) parking is off site but not far at all, and it’s a dedicated lot. 9) there’s a place to pull up right in front of hotel to load and unload and the staff even offers to help 10) I loved the big fluffy bathrobes and they even provided slippers 11) the pull out couch was lacking … but my toddler didn’t mind. As an adult I would have been very uncomfortable. Most all of them are, but this was pretty bad. We stayed at a holiday inn on our drive home and theirs was significantly better 12) hair dryer in unit 13) awesome decor and vibe 14) would

The stay could have been better, the room made a noisy sound. Not a lot of water pressure in the room we stayed at, when calling at night there was no answer. It’s a very nice hotel it just was not the right one for us. It’s walking distance to everything in downtown which is very nice since we did not have to Uber.

I'm sorry to hear that your stay at the hotel didn't meet your expectations due to the noisy room, low water pressure, and difficulty reaching staff at night. Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with the management team to ensure improvements are made. It's great to hear that the hotel's location was convenient for exploring downtown Asheville without needing to rely on Uber. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Stopped overnight as we made our way back to the Coast ...arrived after an exhausting drive after 10" of snow had fallen to be greeted by the kindest of staff, the most comfortable of accommodations and the added bonus of a full "apartment" suite with kitchen, laundry and dining! Center of it all location in Downtown Asheville... With the snowfall everything was closed but the full kitchen allowed us to enjoy a delicious "dine in" evening as we cozied up for a good rest. Our room was exceedingly quiet, decor eclectic and fun...the hotel is absolutely delightful with the added amenities of coffee tea set up, complimentary beverage station and how "sweet" were the French macarons for an arrival treat! Thanks for a great stay, the thoughtful additions and we look forward to our return **if looking for the spaciousness of an Airbnb with the comfort and amenities of a luxury hotel I think you'll be pleased

This was our first mini vacay since the summer of 2019 so I was really hoping for something special and we definitely got it with this hotel. My husband found it online and it was probably one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at for so many reasons. The clubby intimate atmosphere was perfect for the times we're living through now. I felt safe and that's saying a lot. The charming historical atmosphere was so gorgeous -- every detail was thoughtfully considered and the complimentary beverages and snacks were a nice touch. We stayed in one of the two double queen suites (#204) because we were traveling with our adult son. The suite was absolutely perfect in every way. I was immediately struck by the super cool decor and the pristine cleanliness of every area. Having a compact kitchen and washer and dryer was such a plus when traveling for a few days. The suite was very cozy but still provided enough room to spread out so we didn't feel on top of each other. The staff was first rate and attentive on every level. If I could give it more than five stars I would. A perfect location and a perfect stay. Looking forward to returning many times!

I searched for the perfect accommodation when my husband and I planned our trip to visit Asheville, NC, to see the Fall colors. There were many choices but when I came upon “The Windsor” smack dab in the middle of town, in a historically preserved renovated building (it was supposedly a brothel back in the 1800’s), I knew I found our home away from home. Only 14 units, all like small apartments with decor fitting a 5 star boutique establishment. Our kitchen was stocked, our bedding was cloud like and no detail was overlooked. Best of all were the STAFF . . . shoutouts to Zack, Ryan and Eliza. They helped with recommendations, restaurant reservations, fresh bottled water always available in the lobby and a Wall Street Journal every morning with coffee. Sure, you could stay at the other fine establishments in town but if you want service, uniqueness, location and comfort look no further. They are the epitome of Asheville hospitality!

My husband and I stayed here during the Covid-19 pandemic, and to be honest, I was afraid of traveling, but the stress of the last few months was getting to be too much, so we chose Asheville and I am SO happy we chose The Windsor for our stay! The staff was incredibly helpful and the hotel was clean (they have a sanitation rating of 100.0, I've never seen that!). They had sanitized pens, a sanitizing station for us to use, and I saw the staff cleaning and disinfecting constantly, and the room was spotless (and absolutely gorgeous)!

I needed that break, I needed that hotel. I wish I could stay there every weekend!

I prefer small hotels, and applaud historic renovations. We wanted to be in the heart of downtown Asheville, so the Windsor seemed ideal. The photos looked like quirky elegant. Our room (205) was, at best, shabby chic. The windows in both rooms opened into a narrow air shaft, which meant they were perpetually dim, and the lamps didn't help much. The shower control had a mind of its own--it would gush cold water until you found just the right spot at which point it was hot. The dresser (definitely vintage) drawers were sticky. The "vanity" was a single basin with room for two toothbrushes at best. The staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful as when we pointed out the safe would not lock. It was not fixed during our three day stay.
Does this seem petty? Well not when one is paying over $600 per weekend night. BTW I rarely review, but the manager asked me to "please review on Trip Advisor" so I'm obliging.

Is the hotel within walking distance of restaurants-and is it safe to walk at night?
Answer from WindsorBoutique

Hello! The Windsor is located right in downtown Asheville and you can easily walk to any destination located in downtown Asheville. We are about a 10 minute drive from the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village. We consider the city safe, including at night.
Answer from WindsorBoutique

Hello! There is a TV in every bedroom and a TV in every living room (2 per suite). We are a small boutique hotel with only the guest suites on property, there is no restaurant or bar. We're located in the heart of downtown Asheville within walking distance to many local restaurants, bar, shops and breweries. We recommend you call and request a 3rd floor room or one with an interior bedroom to avoid any potential street noise since we are downtown. Thank you for asking!

Where is the executive suite located in the hotel? Does it have a scenic view?
Answer from WindsorBoutique

Our Exec Suite is on the 3rd (top) floor. Since we are situated in a smaller historic building in downtown Asheville, we do not offer scenic views, our windows face the city streets. If you have preferences, give our front desk a call to talk through options!
