Came here with my husband to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. We spent 4 nights here and had a quite enjoyable experience. We arrived to a cute mini bottle of prosecco in our room with a Happy Anniversary sign. The bed was comfy. Loved that the bathroom had a bidet. For being such an old property we were pleasantly surprised that we didn't hear any noise through the walls of people walking through the halls or coming from other rooms. The breakfast each morning was delightful. The chorizo scramble was my favorite (it was a daily special). We alternated street parking and parking in the lot but never had a problem grabbing a spot. Just a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway as well at The Biltmore which are the two things that brought us to town. I would definitely stay here again. The staff was friendly and it's such a great value for the location, comfort and service.

I absolutely loved our one night stay at the Princess Anne. The hotel is so beautiful and when you walk in, it's like stepping back in time. I liked to imagine all of the people who had stayed there in its nearly 100 years of history. We were checked in easily (check in is at 3:00 pm) and were delighted to receive an actual key for our room. When you check in, you will be given a choice of breakfast times for your morning reservation. There were plenty of time slots to choose from and breakfast was included in the cost of the room.

My husband and I booked the Master Suite and it was so spacious and lovely. The king bed was very comfortable and everything including the bathroom, was very neat and clean. I highly recommend the Master Suite if you will be staying for more than one night as it is like having a little apartment with a dining room / kitchen and a living room with a sofa bed. Despite the hotel being a historic building, the rooms have the modern amenities you would expect. Even though we were only there for a night, I would definitely book the Master Suite again.

Between 5-6 PM every day, the front desk offers complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres. We had a delicious cheese, fruit, and meat plate which was great because after traveling, we were ready for a snack! We sat in the parlor area and just enjoyed sitting for bit in such a pretty room. There is a fireplace you can sit by as well.

The Princess Anne is very conveniently located to many local restaurants and shops, as well as Biltmore. We had a fun evening out exploring the area. The next morning, we arrived in the dining room for our breakfast reservation. They had tea and coffee waiting and the tables were set so pretty with fresh flowers. We had the sweetest waitress who made us just feel right at home. My husband had eggs, toast, and bacon and I had the Greek yogurt with fruit and homemade granola. It was delicious and we were left quite satisfied for our day out to Biltmore.

After breakfast, we checked out quickly and easily. Check out is at 11:00 AM. We absolutely loved our night at the Princess Anne. It is in such a pretty historic area surrounded by old unique homes. Parking is very convenient and if you need an elevator, they have a really cool one that was built in the 1950's, I believe. There are so many pretty spots to explore inside and outside of this hotel that I wish we could have stayed another night. If you are looking for a hotel that has charm and want to be treated like a human and not just a room number, the Princess Anne is for you.

We arrived on a rainy evening and I cannot imagine a cozier place to arrive to! We walked in to a beautiful lobby, lovingly restored, with jazz music playing, a fire going, free baked goods, and a friendly employee who offered us drinks (even though we missed the complimentary nightly wine and hors d'oeuvres gathering). We were upgraded to a larger room and appreciated the historic details throughout. This hotel was very affordable, a 6-minute drive to the Grove Park Inn and an 8-minute drive to the entrance of the Biltmore estate. It was also surrounded by lovely old houses and bungalows and I found myself looking for any spare time to sit on the beautiful back porch, sit near the fire, or enjoy the spacious room (which even had a kitchenette!). The breakfast was in a sunny, spacious room. The daily menu appears under your door around 7am and the meal was creative and fast - a nice treat to be included in the hotel price as well! Loved this hotel!

I booked a stay at the Princess Anne Hotel in June for my surprise engagement trip in December. Unfortunately, Asheville was devastated by a hurricane in early October, leaving key areas—including my planned engagement site—inaccessible or unrecognizable.

I reached out to the hotel on October 1 to check on their status and explore options, but was told to contact my booking site or to email back if I booked directly on their website (which I had, and subsequently did). Despite following up on October 7 and again on October 23, I only received a reply a month later (November 4th), after I had already been forced to make alternative arrangements and cancel all plans in Asheville (L also felt two weeks was an apt amount of time for them to respond following my final message on October 23rd, and left me very little time to proceed with alternative plans for the engagement).

When the hotel did finally respond, they refused to negotiate any refund, citing a non-refundable policy. I pointed out that their website states cancellations made more than two weeks before check-in are eligible for refunds, but they cited a conflicting policy buried in the booking email and seemingly nowhere else. I even proposed a fair compromise—a 75% refund to cover their potential rebooking costs—in order to quickly move past this, but they flatly refused, offering only a stay credit, which is useless to me given the circumstances.

This entire experience has been unnecessarily stressful and upsetting. When the hurricane hit, I was already dealing with the heartbreak of re-planning my perfect proposal from scratch in a new location, as well as tying up loose ends in Asheville. Now, in the week leading up to my engagement, I find myself still fighting with my credit card company to respond to Princess Anne’s dispute of my chargeback request. Their lack of compassion has made an already difficult process exponentially harder.

What makes this worse is that every other merchant involved in my trip—American Airlines, the Biltmore, my photographer, and others—immediately offered full refunds without hesitation, and showed such wonderful understanding and empathy in my communications with them.

The Princess Anne Hotel’s slow communication, refusal to compromise, and rigid stance during a natural disaster has been deeply disappointing. I urge anyone considering this hotel to think twice if you value fairness, compassion, and good customer service.

I will update my review with necessary documentation should management respond in a way that attempts to misrepresent the situation.

Excellence! Everything about the Princess Anne is outstanding. From the moment we walked in the front door, we experienced hospitality at its best. The staff texted us to let us know that our room was ready, earlier than expected, and we found the room to be spotless, warm and inviting. Fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate were always at hand near the lobby, as well as a complimentary assortment of fresh baked goodies made in house, by the chef, who certainly know her way around a kitchen. The breakfast choices should satisfy most tastes. I chose Belgian waffles, with a blueberry sauce, with crumbled pistachio nuts on top, with bacon. It was delicious! Afterward, we adjourned to the lobby, and sat before the cheery fireplace to read a newspaper. Delightful to slow down the pace of modern life. In our room, the bed was just right, and we had a very comfortable night's sleep. Hot water from the sink and shower was pretty much instantaneous, which, although not a big deal, indicated the quality of the hotel's restoration efforts. Parking is in a convenient off street parking lot right behind the hotel. And, the realty is that the people make the difference. Every interaction with staff was wonderful. The people who work in this hotel care about your experience, and it shows. I love supporting a lodging such as the Princess Anne. We will return here. It's central to everything, and I suggest you give the place a try...you will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely overnight stay, and were so pleasantly surprised with the hotel. We booked somewhat last minute and received a discount for booking directly from their site. The room was spacious and spotless. We missed the wine reception, but the lobby and patio both looked so inviting. It was so quiet we felt we were the only guests on our floor. Nespresso in the room made for a treat for in room coffee. Cooked to order breakfast is included with your stay, and it was delicious. Staff were always friendly and inviting. Overall so pleased and will definitely stay again next time we’re in Asheville.

The Princess Anne is a nice relatively large B&B in a residential area outside of downtown Asheville. The rooms are large and comfortable with plenty of storage - but the sink in the bedroom might have been considered “cute” but not practical.
They serve very nice breakfasts as well as a “happy hour” between 5-6pm.
The staff was friendly and helpful

Five o'clock wine and cheese, with soft jazz in the background, it was a lovely place to stay. The breakfast room has big tall windows that look out on the trees in the backyard. I appreciated being able to order my breakfast (not a steam buffet) and have it at a time I selected. We enjoyed sitting in the backyard chairs, listening to the birds and watching a rufous-sided towhee scratching away in the leaves. A couple of local restaurants were a couple of blocks away, so we could walk to dinner. Our room was a suite, with a "living room" and a bedroom, and a little kitchenette. This is a great place! This is the third time we've stayed here.

I can’t recommend the Princess Anne highly enough!! It’s a hotel that is ran like a bed and breakfast.

From the moment you enter the hotel, you are welcomed by the friendliest staff! The extras are awesome! Choices of complimentary cooked to order breakfast is delicious. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages every afternoon. Every morning, various baked goods are put out for guests to enjoy throughout the day. Free parking. Guest can even borrow an umbrella for the day if needed!

The rooms are more like an efficiency apartment. Separate bedroom, bath, living area with sofa and tv, and small kitchen. It’s nice to have the extra space.

Located on the edge of downtown, a car is a must. There are 2-3 restaurants within 2 blocks that you could walk to. Any other place to go would require a car.

There are a few trade offs. This is an historic hotel. With that comes creaky wood floors, older doors and, at times, noisy water pipes. But I am a very light sleeper, and I slept great every night. We requested a room on the 3rd floor to avoid sounds of guests walking in rooms over us.

If we come back to Asheville, we will definitely stay at the Princess Anne hotel.

Friends recommended the Princess Anne so we were trusting their past experience. They were happy with their room. Our room 205 was spacious and had nice furnishings BUT the bathroom shower area needs a remodel badly! See pics. I didn’t use it. Baseboard and other moldings need a good scrub in the room.

The hotel has character but nothing special for a B&B type lodging. The staff was very friendly. The wine and appy plate was a nice welcome. The breakfast room was nice and food was fine. Comfortable bed

My review is heavily affected by the bathroom. Mold/mildew, peeling ceiling paint, peeling privacy sheet on window, loads of caulking everywhere. You decide.
