The police have told me that no one has been robbed or assaulted on the streets of Five Points anytime recently. That said, the recent construction of a shopping center that backs up to Holland Street, the favored neighborhood route downtown has made that route a little foreboding for one block. Shopping center management has immediate plans to clear and landscape the back side of the center, but it has become so overgrown that for now it can feel a little like a jungle while walking by there at night. Walking on the major streets to downtown, Merrimon and Broadway, is safe, but neither are pedestrian-friendly.
