The Cambria Hotel Downtown Asheville receives mixed feedback on its value; however, many guests appreciate its central location near Asheville's attractions. The hotel's staff are often commended for their professionalism, with a special nod to the valet service and the hospitable gesture of champagne upon arrival. While the vibrant atmosphere and spotless rooms are frequently celebrated, some guests mention noise issues. The amenities, including the gym and rooftop dining with picturesque mountain vistas, are popular among visitors, even as a few note the rooms' lighting and temperature could be improved.

This hotel was extremely busy although the staff remained pleasant, professional, and competent. The valets were busy but efficient with parking. Our hotel room itself was large, well appointed, interesting, and extremely clean. Location excellent for walking.

We chose to stay at the Cambria for our quick trip to Asheville. It was a 2 night stay. We were warmly greeted by the valet team. They explained how their service worked which proved to be superb!

Loved the offering of a glass of Champagne at check in! We were on the 8th floor, the room was clean and nice. The blackout window shades worked better than typical hotel curtains. The room was so dark the 2nd night we raised the shade for a little light. I’ve included a photo with the shades lowered.

We found the bed and the bedding to be comfortable.

The bathroom was nice but not my favorite hence only 4 stars. Not a fan of a frosted sliding glass door for privacy. The light switch for the bathroom is located outside of the bathroom in the entryway. So middle of the night bathroom visit you had to turn on the light, go in and then close the door. The light still shines through the glass door! I wish I had brought a nightlight with me. The shower fixtures seemed to be low budget fixtures. On a positive note, the provided toiletries were nice. The 2nd night we were there, there some decorative towels placed in the shower area which was nice.

At checkout, we were given a jar of honey. Great touch! Overall we were pleased with our stay.

Have been to Asheville many times to visit family and have stayed in hotels and Air BnB’s in various locations. This trip we wanted to stay downtown and experience all it has to offer visitors.

The Cambria is a new hotel, a very nice property, and has a great downtown location. The view of the mountains from our room was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free bottled water at front desk and free champagne during certain hours. Not a fan of valet parking but we notified them by text when leaving our room and the car was waiting when we got downstairs. Very good fitness center and on-site restaurant. The hotel was pristine and the bed was great.

The room was modern, minimalist and beautiful but we found it was not as functional as it could be. An example is only one hook in the bathroom. With towel bars or more hooks, we could have hung our towels and reused them instead of placing them on the floor. Bedside tables were tiny, as was the hang space for clothing. Not a fan of Keurigs and ours made tiny cups of coffee. Would like to see more eco friendly practices - easy to do - no Keurig, real mugs instead of paper cups, ability to reuse towels, etc.

Would definitely stay here again.

What a terrible hotel. Never will I ever stay here again, and I'll be warning anyone who wants to stay in downtown Asheville to stay away.

1) The room layout is horrible. The bed backs up to a half wall, with a tiny desk behind it. The TV is mounted to the side wall, so it has to be pulled out (you'll be watching it to the far left/right of your bed). The floor is laminate, so noises are amplified. The bathroom has clear doors so when you turn the light on in a dark room it is guaranteed to wake up anyone else in the room.

2) The bathroom has a very small wall protruding from the shower/toilet area that doesn't give anyone in the shower/toilet area any real privacy. There is a low quality bluetooth speaker in the mirror.

3) The shower is designed so that water gets all over the very slick floor.

4) The a/c unit constantly makes a ticking noise that fades in and out from almost off to incredibly loud.

5) The lobby smells like some weird spice.

6) The common areas (restaurant/convention area) are closed at night, so if you want to get away from the sounds/noise you can't.

This location, modern feel and all around value is hard to beat in downtown Asheville. The front desk staff was kind and welcoming, but don't expect a grand entrance upon arrival as the lobby area is pretty underwhelming (not a big deal). The on site restaurant offers a great atmosphere with beautiful roof top views and decent food, we enjoyed a nice birthday dinner. I'd say the hotel parking is a bit pricey and easily avoidable with nearby garages. The few negatives started with our room. Although very nice, modern and with views we noticed it wasn't up to par in the cleanliness department. The floors clearly weren't cleaned with someone's hair all over (blonde, and neither of us are blonde), a gum like substance stuck to the floor in multiple areas and greasy hand prints on the closet doors. Not a great start especially given the so called "Enhanced cleaning standards" But my girlfriend did approach the front desk and they had someone clean the floors almost immediately, We wiped some things down ourselves for good measure because we weren't confident in what was actually cleaned at that point. We later called for some towels and those never showed up. Also the length of the shower glass partition is awkward and only covers about half of the shower with no door. So you're exposed on the back half of the shower and it can make for a cold shower and or water splashing the floor(again not a huge deal). I see why people give this place 4 and 5 stars, maybe on our stay we just got unlucky on a few things, but walking into a dirty room is kind of a deal breaker. This hotel certainly stands out in the Asheville crowd so we may be inclined to give it another try or switch to something nearby. The jar of honey on the way out was a nice touch.

We stayed during Covid when you would hope the rooms had extra cleaning but NO. The floor was dirty, had sticky substance all over our suite. We had two other rooms that one of them had an AC unit that gurgled all night. Rooms did not get service unless you ask and no where was this posted. So no coffee refills etc. The restaurant on the property had delicious food but a very rude hostess. They could not accommodate us in the restaurant due to Covid and limited spacing, so we ordered it for our room which they would not deliver so we waited for it and when we got it to our room half of our food was missing. When I booked they said I could hold the reservation on one credit card and pay with another once I got to the hotel, well that wasn’t allowed either. The rooms are missing a lot of conveniences. Hooks for towels, useful bedroom lighting, shower heads That don’t spray the bathroom floors. I could go on and on but these were the main issues and not once did a manager approach us regarding all of our issues that we did share with the front desk.

Dear Jlhbuckeye, Thank you for taking the time to complete a review regarding your recent stay at our hotel. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for failing to exceed your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you provided to make improvements to ensure we offer an exceptional experience for our guests in the future. During these difficult times I can assure you that we are taking many extra steps to ensure that every room is deep cleaned and sanitized prior to each guests arrival. Our guests can request a cleaning service between the hours of 10am-3pm daily and this is communicated to every guest at check in by the front desk, in a letter on the desk of your room and on a bright orange letter on every bed once the room is cleaned prior to check in. The only time it would not be possible to change your method of payment is if you booked a pre paid reservation with a third party website so this must have been the case. I apologize for the misunderstanding. I will make sure to pass along your feedback to our restaurant management team and I am sorry that I was not able to speak with you in person regarding the issues you had with the room. Please feel free to reach out to me with any further concerns you may have. Sincerely, Brian Kinne Front Office Manager Cambria Downtown Asheville 623-432-0198

We chose this hotel for a weekend getaway based on the location and the rooftop lounge, even though it was more expensive than average. The room was spacious and clean, facing west. It gets a little bright in the afternoon but the view was gorgeous. But if you want to eat at Hemingway’s, you’ll get no consideration for being a hotel guest. I showed up first thing in the morning for breakfast when 90% of the tables were empty and when someone finally showed up was told “sorry we are full with people who have reservations and we don’t accept walk-ins”. The next morning we ventured out for breakfast and found a nice restaurant nearby. At 10:30 I called the hotel and asked to have our checkout time extended for a few minutes. The quirky guy who answered the phone told me they were “booked to the max” and could not extend the checkout time. so we cut our morning short and headed back to get our car. Thankfully, the valet was polite and service-oriented, unlike his colleagues inside. We’re crossing this hotel off our list!

I have wanted to write this review for a while but life has gotten in the way. We went to Asheville over the 4th of July, having been cooped up for months we wanted a vacation that kept us away from crowds and that we could go and explore nature. So we picked the Smokey Mountains. This hotel was awesome. When we pulled up to the valet social distancing was observed, and they wore masks, check in was also at an acceptable social distance with mask wearing associates. Champagne is normally handed out upon check in, but when I arrived there was none, no biggie. The rooms were socially distanced so there was no one staying to either side of us. The room was impeccably clean, you could smell the cleaning solutions in the air which was a comfort. There was no daily room service, which was fine for me. I truthfully did not want some one in our room daily, they brought us clean towels when we asked and coffee pods were available for us to take when needed in the lobby. There were no professional fireworks this year but the sky was lit up with personal fire works, it was truly more beautiful than the professional ones. Overall, we loved our stay and were sad when we had to leave. We did eat at Hemmingways a few times, which is their Cuban restaurant on the top floor. The food was pretty good, adult beverages delicious BUT THE VIEWS were amazing!!! And my daughter loved the social distancing bears that were all over the restaurant. Very cute touch! We will definitely be back!!!

Good location in the heart of downtown Asheville. The valet staff were super nice and very helpful with directions and suggestions. Numerous reviews about complimentary champagne upon arrival and local honey upon checkout; however, I assume that is for "special" rooms only? We received neither, but did see others being greeted with champagne at the same time as our arrival. Not a big deal, but was not a great first impression. Room was spacious and clean. No housekeeping daily, but there were housekeepers on the floor every morning and we were able to ask for everything we needed (extra towels, coffee, etc). I was looking forward to the rooftop bar; however, did not realize a reservation was needed just to have a drink or just be up there a few minutes for the scenery. Would recommend making a reservation if you know you will be wanting to visit the rooftop bar area. All and all nice, clean rooms in a good location.

We stayed in a double queen room on the 12th floor with a beautiful mountain view. The room had ample space, very comfortable, and was spotlessly clean. The location was perfect for visiting all the attractions, whether walking around downtown Asheville or the very short drive to Biltmore. The valet parking was a big plus for me, one less thing to worry about while vacationing, and the process they use is very efficient. All the staff were friendly and helpful - and it came across as being genuine and not forced, which tells me they do enjoy working at this property. Which in turn translates to a better experience for the guests. I highly recommend, and we will definitely look to book here first on our next visit to Asheville.

Pack Square Park seems to be the closest trolley stop. It’s about a 5 min walk (according to Google) from the Cambria. Not a bad hike with a lot of stuff in between to look at. We usually just park our car and walk around. The RAD could be visited by trolley as well as there are a couple of stops there too (Fresh West pizza).

I stayed here a few months ago and used valet parking for my car. However, I noticed that a few motorcycles were parked very near where the valet station was positioned (under cover and seemingly secure). So, my guess is they don't drive the motorcycle.
