A gorgeous building in a gorgeous setting — I've admired this hotel for a long time. I finally stayed here! Full disclosure, I booked it at a discounted rate through Priceline, so I expected to have one of their less than ideal rooms. This one was right across from the icemaker, but whatever, not that big of a deal. And I will say the finishes everywhere are beautiful and high quality. Someone definitely had an eye for detail when building and designing the Grand Bohemian. The bed was also as comfortable as any hotel bed I've stayed in. All of that said, the following are the cons that I experienced. Most of them I would turn a blind eye to in a three-star hotel, but at the Grand Bohemian, I expect better — especially when rooms can start at over $600/night during peak weeks/seasons.

1) The traffic noise was unexpectedly loud. We were on the top floor, and it sounded like we were street level.
2) When we entered the hotel, there were no signs indicating where check-in was and no one offered to tell us. It is a non-traditional setup, so some indication of where to go would be helpful.
3) Our room was not in the main hotel building, which I knew would be a possibility, but getting there is awkward. You have to cross a busy street with all of your luggage in tow, and no one offered to help us with it.
4) Our room wasn't ready at check-in time. We arrived at about 4:20. Since check-in time is 4 pm that was unexpected. It was ready within the hour but still inconvenient.
5) Had to figure out how to access the wi-fi ourselves. Every hotel I've ever stayed at, no matter how many stars, had the front desk explain it at check-in.
6) Cobwebs, dust and bleach. There was dust covering the vent in the elevator. It obviously hadn't been cleaned in awhile. The chandelier in the hotel room itself had cobwebs with dust on it, so it wasn't some recent eager beaver spider at work after a recent cleaning. When we used the shower for the first time the entire room reeked of bleach. So the was good news the shower was clean. Bad news we got to inhale an overwhelming stench of bleach.
7) The guestroom photos on the website are misleading. Based on what we saw, it seemed like our room would have a bathtub in it, which we were super excited for. Turns out we had a shower. It had a really nice rain head and was a decent experience, but the photos on the site are not clearly labeled so be aware if that's important to you.

Overall, it was an adequate experience and as with anything, there's an opportunity for improvement — especially for a hotel that claims to be luxury. I was left feeling very meh. Next time I decide to splurge for an Asheville hotel stay it will likely at the Grove Park or Inn at Biltmore.

My wife and I have stayed at the property several times. It is in a great location close to the biltmore estate and the biltmore village. You can easily walk to some great breakfast and lunch spots. The rooms are large and comfy with great bathroom that include a separate shower and soaking tub.

Let me start with the good stuff. The staff at the Grand Bohemian were uniformly friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The doorman remembered our name, the car valet offered bottles of water and the front desk staff did whatever was asked of them with aplomb.

If you're visiting the Biltmore, there's no better location--the entrance is across the street. Of course, it's a three mile long driveway and no sidewalks, so plan on driving and taking the shuttle.

The property itself was warm and comforting with fresh coffee in the lobby every morning and hot cider and/or cocoa in the afternoon and evenings. Perfect for these chilly and damp autumn days.

Now the disappointments:

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary, so we splurged on one of the few two room suites. It was nicely furnished and quite sizable, so how come there was only one closet with a total of 17.5-inches of closet rod? We could barely squeeze in those things that had to be hung. And where was the in-room safe? It was a wall safe in the back of the tiny, crowded closet (see photo). So, unless one wanted to take everything out of the closet to access the safe, it was useless.

The bathroom was large and had a wonderful, relaxing bubbling bathtub. However, the shower was tiny, made smaller by the corner seat (see photo). Additionally, the shower head was fixed and high-up. I would have preferred something handheld. The enclosed commode had a glass door. Though my wife and I share most things, we prefer to do our "business" with some privacy. The sink had a nice magnifying make-up mirror with a built-in light. It doubled nicely as a night light (see photo). My wife felt the hair dryer was under-powered, but I thought it was OK. Of course, at my age, I have far less hair than she.

Oh yeah, strangely enough, this two-room suite had only a single phone--on the desk in the sitting room. There was none by the bed. There should have been.

And, finally, one of my usual complaints. Unlike many hotels this one had adequate towel rods to hang towels to dry for re-use. So, I hung them up and housekeeping replaced them anyway. So much for going green.

Considering this suite cost @$3500 for 4 days, I expected more.

This hotel is very nice, and really central to all things Asheville. Located in Biltmore village, and across the street from the main entrance to Biltmore Estate, this boutique hotel really works. Walking distance to many good eateries inside of the village, as well as art galleries and shopping. If you're looking to visit downtown Asheville, the trolley also stops right outside the front entrance to pick you up, and drop you off. Very nice, spacious rooms, and staff is very on top of everything. Had a wonderful girls trip here in October.

My husband and I stayed for (3) nights in October. The interior of the hotel really has that "hunting lodge" feel to it. We absolutely loved sitting by the huge four-sided fireplace in the evening with a cocktail. The valet staff was wonderful; especially David. He never failed to greet us by name after we checked in. I'm only giving it 4 stars because our room was located in the Manor House across the street. It was a pain valet parking at the main hotel and then dragging our suitcases across the street. We were offered a room in the main hotel when we arrived, but there were no king beds available. And; as others have commented, there really is NO privacy for the bathrooms at the Manor House. Curtains only with a glass door to the water closet and shower. When we arrived at the Manor House, there was a staff member sitting behind the desk to direct us to the elevator, but that was the only staff member we ever saw at the Manor House. Housekeeping visited of course, but we really felt as though we were second-class guests forgotten at the Manor House. Be prepared; unless you time it correctly, the traffic light takes forever when you want to go back to the main hotel. The proximity of a 24-hour railroad track and a nearby hospital also create a lot of train noise and sirens. Although the main hotel really is cozy and beautiful, I'm not sure we would choose this hotel again.

Yes I believe so. I am gold and they gave us an upgraded room. You can call the hotel yourself (they are very friendly) and let them know you are platinum and I am sure they will roll out the red carpet for you! Hope this... More

Your breakfast is subsidized. I am Ambassador level and did not see any benefits to that status. I have been at this hotel twice.
