This was my first visit to Colorado, and my wife and I stayed at The Wanderlust Hostel on our second night of the trip. What a pleasure! Cannot say enough wonderful things about this absolutely precious little place!!! The staff are endlessly inviting and helpful. They will instantly welcome you in and make you feel at home. There is so much invaluable information readily available to guests, regarding what to do, where to go, and what to see in Gunnison and nearby. You will quickly feel like you are staying with family. The value of the lodgings for the cost of a stay (we stayed in the large private room) is unbeatable! From loaner bikes, to ample reading materials available to borrow, to a quaint community garden for all to participate and partake in....added to the cleanliness of the property and its location (we were able to walk to restaurants, shops, a dispensary, and some lovely parks less than a mile away!!).... my one and only regret is that we were only able to stay one night. I will absolutely make it a point to stay at The Wanderlust again, if we find ourselves in the area in the future. Thank you so much for your hospitality!!

I can’t say enough nice things about Wanderlust Hostel! After camping for 2 weeks, I needed to do laundry. No problem! For a modest $6 charge the person on duty washed and dried the clothes for me! There’s lots of space in the kitchen to stash your food if you want to cook, and the kitchen is stocked well with everything you need. Coffee is complimentary in the morning. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Outside there are comfy chairs and a hammock. They have bikes (with locks) to lend you for exploring the town. The first night I stayed in the large private room which is very nice and away from the other bedrooms and kitchen. I decided to stay another night and slept in the bunk bed room (the large private was booked) and it was just fine. Highly recommend this place. If you want the private room be sure to reserve it in advance.

The Wanderlust lives up to its mission, providing clean, pleasant, affordable, accommodations, with a welcomingly warm, comfortable feeling of home. My extended stay was like visiting a group of friends at a base camp from which to explore, and then return to relax and enjoy. Thank you, Wanderlust, for all that you do and for going above and beyond.

The Wanderlust was great! Super clean and friendly environment. I loved the decorations and atmosphere. All the employees were super friedly and helpful. I love the women's specific dorms in the summer, seems like a great way to increase comfort for everybody.

Staying at the Wanderlust added a whole new dimension to our trip. Our 12 and 8 year old loved it too and we all felt very welcome and more comfortable than staying with family. Very well thought through spaces for private and group rooms, great kitchen, environmentally conscious approach to running the place and a very welcoming atmosphere! We can't recommend this place enough - it will make your trip better! We will definitely be staying there again - can't wait!

I stayed here in the small private room. It was so cozy and inviting that it didn’t take very long after my head hit the pillow to fall asleep. The hostel was decorated in a fun way and since it’s in an actual house converted to hostel it felt very homey. The small room is great for a solo traveler like me that doesn’t want to do a shared bedroom with strangers but doesn’t mind sharing a bathroom, kitchen, and tv/sitting area and doesn’t want to pay $120 just to sleep for the night. The hosts are friendly as well. If I’m ever over in that area while visiting Colorado I’d definitely stay again.

I stayed in early May for 3 nights, in a 6 bed coed dorm. Prior to this my only hostel experience was a relatively commercial-esque hostel in Dublin. Let me tell you this was nothing like that.

For starters it's a pretty small operation with 3 people handling the day to day when I visited. Amy, Kelly, and Nadine are all super friendly and will help answer any questions to have to get situated in the hostel, as well as with the surrounding area.

Instead of feeling like you're in a shared hotel space, it feels like you're at a friend's house just hanging out. I spent a half day just hanging out in the living room and binging The Expanse, because it was way to windy outside to do much.

The beds were comfy and clean, shower facilities were both clean as well. They have a very well stocked kitchen and I managed to cook myself dinner one night with minimal effort. Each shared room has some storage cubbies, some with doors and latches (bring your own lock or they will rent it to you), and some just open cubbies.

They have a selection of DVDs and VHS tapes as well. I put on Mamma Mia for one of the nights I was there. Delightful!

The parking situation was pretty sweet, they have a little alley behind the hostel and I felt secure parking my motorcycle there.

I stayed for two nights in the small single room. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of storage space with a long closet and a built-in dresser and shelf. There was one small window which provided plenty of ventilation. The room is in the back and at night with the lights off it is pitch black and perfect for sleeping. The hostel is quiet at night. There is a shared half-bath right next to the room, which can be convenient in the middle of the night. The hostel has plenty of hang-out space in the common areas, both inside and outside. I didn't use the kitchen but other guests did and it seemed to have everything for basic cooking. My daughter just started a two year program at the college so I expect to be back next year and will definitely stay here again.

The hostel is in a great location in town and has everything you would want. There is a great living space and two fabulous outdoor spaces which is especially good during a pandemic. They have very safe practices in regards to COVID. Really welcoming and fun atmosphere. The dorms looked good but I stayed in the large single room which was very spacious and allowed me to get a writing project done while my friends were camping. I’ve stayed in a ton of hostels and this is one of the best.

Amazing staff, fun amenities, close to amazing parts of Colorado including some national parks, great yard space, great living quarters. I stayed in the "small" private room. The bed was insanely comfortable, they did not cheap out or cut any corners. The closet was spacious and towels, a fan, blow drier, table, wash clothes, soaps, etc. were provided. The space was so homey and welcoming and insanely affordable. You cannot go wrong with staying here - I would recommend it for people ages 18 - 30.
