Our family really enjoyed the location. Just outside our lodge we saw three deer and the view is beautiful. Be sure to bring your food with you because there is no restaurant. Room did have a frig. Staff was friendly and had a rollaway in our room when we arrived. Very small bathroom, sink didn't drain well, A/C a little... More

For some reason that was never really explained, we did not get the rooms I booked. Even though I had my print-out confirmation whicht proved that I had reserved two rooms in the old stone section, I was told that the confirmation meant nothing. We were given instead two rooms in the A building. I was disappointed because the newer... More

Stayed 3 nights at the lodge, can't say enough. Everyone was so pleasent, from check in till we left. Lodge is a little dated but that ads to its ambience, view from the room was breathtaking. Food in the restaurant was good, surprisingly good selection. Again a big thank you to all the staff. Make this place a must to... More

It's a long way from anywhere and the location can't be beat, that's why you are here. Rooms are motel style, large enough for all your belongings although fittings are likely to be older than you. Yet, they still work to a degree and the place is kept clean. What is missing is any communal space, apart from the restaurant.... More

We were fortunate to obtain a room even though we only booked 2.5 months before our stay. Big Bend National Park in Texas is a huge beautiful park with stunning views of mountains, desert, and river. Staying at the lodge is a great way to ensure you can properly see the sunset and hike in the AM before it is... More

Reviewing the Lodge room itself, it is just about poor to average. Our room was a bit out-dated and a bit shabby. The bathroom is extremely small and tile grout/shower was kind of gross. Carpet was stained from years of travelers. Bed was okay and we got three pillows with options of firmness: soft, medium and firm. Air-conditioner worked great... More

There isn't a better place to stay simply because of the location. Other than that, you can't expect much. It's hard to explain how big Big Bend is or how far away the small towns with decent hotels are. Even Lajitas (Very Nice) can be as much as two hours away from certain parts of the park. Alpine which has... More

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about your experience in the dining room. We strive to always deliver an excellent guest experience, and hate to hear when we fail to live up to that. We do hope you'll reconsider eating in the restaurant again and that we do a much better job when you come back. -Chisos... More

We have stayed twice now in the stone cottages here. The views are breathtaking, the air is pure with the smell of piñon. The cottages were built in the 1930s and they are decorated much the same as when they were built. There is no air conditioning but there is really no need. There are hiking trails for all skill... we came to view the "window", from the short trail, behind the lodge. we also came to eat at the restaurant. the short trail, to view the window, is more to the right. i saw some people, going on the longer trail, that didn't seem to be going hiking-5 miles or so. the signage is kind of confusing. the trail... Thank you for your review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the views from the Window View Trail and your meal at the restaurant. In the summer time we do get intense thunderstorms, some of which produce hail. It's definitely not typical for it to hail in the Chisos Basin, but we always enjoy the drop in temperature after the... More

We stayed two nights at the Chisos Mountain Lodge. We explored the west part of the park on one day and the east side on another. The Lodge is centrally located in the park so this worked out well. It is an interesting climb to the Lodge's beautiful basin setting. Basic national park accommodations, clean comfortable room, hot water, microwave... More

Thank you for your review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Looking towards the Window is certainly the best place to watch the sunset! We're glad that you were happy with the service from the staff. We apologize about the noise from the tour buses. We tend to see the most tour buses in March and... More
