I’m gonna give this 5 stars for the price. We were driving through and decided at the last minute to sleep for the night. There aren’t a lot of options in La Junta.
This place is clean, quiet. Good staff and polite. Easy in and easy out. Stayed with our dog. We ordered a pizza. Also used their charging station for my hybrid.
My only complaint is dealing with the auto system for the phone. Dang, I wish you could call ahead and talk to a real person. We finally gave up and just went there and walked in. I think we got the last room.

This hotel use to be pretty nice. Not so much anymore. It’s run down and dirty. Overall appearance of the grounds was disappointing., dying grass, trash receptacles full, cigarette butts everywhere, customers not paying any attention to where to walk their pets. This is a pet friendly hotel, and no rules apply, it appeared. Two rooms had dogs that barked every single time we walked by the door., barked at everything., so they were clearly unattended in room., allowed to bark at anything, at the other customers “expense” at $91 per night, which was overpriced for what you get. Cleanliness of the room was so so., nothing too impressive.. The air conditioner can not be set lower than 72, although if you get a room on the west side, you would burn up, which we did, cause all the afternoon sun comes in, unless you completely close ALL drapes until dark. The staff was fantastic., very nice people., extremely accommodating., pool was closed due to COVID guidelines., it appeared to be getting repairs done., although there was a water leak outside near the entrance by the pool , cause the ground was saturated right where everyone congregated to smoke.
Overall rating an average., at best. You don’t have too many choices in the valley, and this Holiday Inn did not hit the mark for me.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for one night as we toured the Comanche National Grasslands looking for the Oklahoma Brown Tarantula migration. We saw hundreds of spider, but that is beside the point.
We checked into the hotel and immediately felt like celebrities. The front desk agent was great, told us where to look for tarantulas, made dinner recommendations, and offered us cookies.
Walking down the stairs after taking our luggage to our room, we happened upon a maintenance man vacuuming the carpets, and he could not have been more gracious and apologized for the noise and inconvenience.
At breakfast, Tara and Marcia monitored out table and satisfaction as if we were the only diners in the room.
When checking out, the four of us in our party commented to the front desk agent how friendly all staff members were, and she commented that they staff and hotel were happy to have us visit.
What great service and experience.

It appears no hotel in La Junta is fully booking right now because of Covid but it is therefore driving the price of very run down facilities up. Daughter and I were visiting her friend at Otero otherwise we’d have no reason to stay. Most seem to be here for sports or passing through. Hampton was booked so we ended up here. This has to be the worst Holiday Inn I’ve ever stayed in. It is very unclean even if we weren’t living in a pandemic.
My duvet cover had clearly not been washed and the top was folded to cover what looked like spilled food or worse. Foreign hairs on bathroom floor, filthy walls, and the tub did not drain. I left the shower feeling nastier than when I got in.
Considering they are only servicing rooms every 5th day, you’d think they’d do a more thorough job when they did clean it.
One positive, to go breakfast was done well.

Hi pmama, Thank you for making us part of your visit and leaving us a review of your stay. Our goal is to ensure that our hotels are always clean, our services friendly, and everything always works. It is a disappointing setback that we missed the mark in ensuring the level of satisfaction and convenience every guest should expect from an IHG hotel. We take feedback seriously and have shared your comments with our local team. I am confident that necessary changes will be made to ensure that the best practices are in place. Please stay with us again soon so that we can demonstrate our commitment to your comfort. We look forward to having the opportunity to restore your confidence in our hotel in the near future. All the best, Alice P Case Manager IHGService

We are not comfortable staying in hotels during the pandemic and have had a couple of bad experiences with understaffed (not cleaned) hotels this summer. I was reluctant to visit the breakfast area, because they are typically crowded and the buffet area is risky. BUT< SURPRISE, at the Holiday Inn in La Junta, the tables were spaced and guests were required to sit at a table and be served. No guests at the buffet! That is sooo much safer. The servers were friendly and took orders and delivered them on a plastic plate. They are making an effort to keep their guests safe. THANK YOU!!!
PS. My husband checked in and I don’t know what the rate was, so I didn’t rate that.

Everything was excellent as far as cleanliness, great beds and a friendly staff. It was also great to have a hot breakfast as a lot of motels offer a very basic breakfast during Covid. I would most definitely stay here again if I would be in the area.

First, no shower cap or facial make-up remover (not so bad). Then, I went to the front desk just before 5:30 a.m. and asked where the fitness room was located and I was rudely asked of I made a reservation. I replied no, I had not. So she picked up the reservation pad and said that I would have to wait until 7:00 a.m. as they were going to be in a shift change. There wasn't one person reserved for the fitness room on the sheet. She could have let me get a 20 minute workout in, but left me very disappointed.
The shower wouldn't drain properly so I had to stand in 2 1/2 inches of water.
No hangers available to hand your coat or clothes.
Pictures attached.

DiannaColoradoan, Thank you for taking the time to leave such thorough and revealing feedback. Your very detailed negative review of our facilities and customer service is rough to hear because our goal and our efforts are directed to bring the opposite results from what you describe. We are forwarding this review to our management for their review. Please know your voice is important to us and we will be using the feedback you provided to try to make improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for our guests in the future. We hope to see you again when your travels bring you back to the area!

Even with all the Covid19 problems, this proved to be a nice, relaxing stay. The beds seemed fresh and sanitized and everyone seemed comfortable with the requirements. Even with the almost constant trains the room remained quiet. The only thing wrong was that the WI-FI was too slow to do much besides checking e-mail and some basic websites. It was great to actually have a hot breakfast rather than four things thrown in a bag.

The property was clean and comfortable, although the outside area needed some attention, small pieces of trash, cigarette butts and dog poop in the pet area. I can't believe people don't pick up after their pets. The staff was friendly. The hot tub was not in use, so if that's important to you, check with them before you book. The complimentary breakfast was average, but the eating area was small. Overall a good value.

Dust so thick on window sills you could write your name. Train across the street. Needs major maintenance and doors to rooms are wonky and don’t work properly. They gave us recommendations where we could get discounted food but wasn’t best idea.
