We visited with our scout troop and really enjoyed the environment. The campsite was a bit farther from the beach than I would have liked (bayside of big loop), but the restrooms were very clean, great outdoor kitchen sinks, and very clean campsites with fire pits and asphalt driveways (great for drying-out tents in morning). We really enjoyed ghost crabbing... More

This place rocks for camping. We had an oceanfront campsite. Heating the waves at night was awesome. Though a bit windy, we enjoyed the site so close to the beach. Ponies are always beautiful to see. Camp host was friendly and available. Keep the loop horse-clean and was fun to chat with about his experiences. We stayed for OC Bike... More

I have visited Assateague before and always camped in the National Park, this is the first time in the state park. Assateague has a great beach, awesome surf (sometimes swimming is not safe) , wild horses, clamming and crabbing and peace and quiet ( except for campers generators). The state park campsites are spacious with a paved drive ,fire pit... More

Camped here last fall at one of the pet friendly lots. One of our favorite places to camp at. It was very easy to find and set up on the campground. We were able to get firewood from a local provider. The ponies are very friendly, even with the dogs. The weekend we were there it was windy. Very close... More

I walked in without a reservation after 5pm and was able to get a site. I loved that all the sites are so close to the ocean. The access to the sites is along one way paved roads. The beach is on the other side of the dunes and access is over wooden walks. I did not love that RV's... More

Just enjoyed a weekend of tent camping at the park. The beach is paradise compared to most of the crowded beaches in this area. The ponies are very interested in visitors which is a little sad for them but thrilling for the kids. Love the outdoor showers and very clean bathrooms that are in easy walking distance to every site.... More

August 5-10, 2016 was a week of fantastic weather at the beach. Sure we had lots of mosquitoes once the sun went down, but while on the beach, it was perfect. Great breeze, no bugs, and the whole beauty of camping (and worth all the work) is almost having the beach to yourselves! Every beach camping review says to bring... More

A nice quiet beach. The campsites are comfortably spaced apart. Only drawback is there is horse droppings everywhere, even the beach. Too bad staff can't take care of the droppings on the beach, its everywhere! Nice renovated bathhouse, very clean. Hard to get electric spots since there is only the "H" loop which has a limited supply, takes a year... More

There are brand new hot showers and bath houses in the state park. The beaches are almost empty and no life guards to tell you what you can and cannot do. The camp hosts are great but camping here is different and harder that other types of camping. Sand is everywhere. There are bugs depending on which way the wind... More

Just returned from a week at ocean pines Maryland. We really enjoyed our stay there but the highlight was assategue state park beach. It's a very nice unspoiled area. Nothing commercial. They had very clean restrooms, showers, changing areas. A small gift shop and snack bar with very good food reasonably priced. The wild ponies come right on the beach,... More
