Truly an oasis! We two couples came off the dusty hiking trails and felt very pampered at this welcoming B&B. We arrived late, around 10pm and the gracious host greeted us at the desk with a smile. Because we had booked a tour leaving at 6am the next morning, she kindly informed us that our breakfasts could be to go! Baked muffin, yogurt, fresh fruit cup, orange juice and of course, their famous home-made granola - yum! Nothing prepackaged about the hot breakfast delivered to your room due to Covid, either. We stayed in the gorgeous French Bedroom and my sister and husband stayed in the Bowery. Both were exceptional with excellent bedding, plenty of seating areas, lovely Molton Brown bath and shower amenities. The room was furnished with a Kurig coffee/tea maker, refrigerator and home-made cookies every day, too! The kitchen pantry had other cooled beverages for sale while hot coffee, more snacks like M&Ms, peanuts, cookies, were thoughtfully available in the common living room. There are several areas outdoors for sitting as a group or privately, too. Our favorite was the quaint pavilion area near the garden! There is a gorgeous outdoor pool and hot tub that was gently lit for use in the evening as well as during the day. Our only regret is we didn't stay a fourth night and just lounge there or on the porch without a care!

Sunflower Inn is everything it claims to be - A Luxury Inn! Located on a quiet residential street, walking distance from the main drag of Moab with its many restaurants and shops, with a private parking lot in the rear, the Inn is an oasis in the desert! Our room, the Bowery, was beautifully decorated and had a wonderful balcony overlooking the gardens. The pool was the perfect temperature and never crowded. There was a hot tub, but in 108 degree weather, we took a pass. There is a lending library of many tour books and lots of board games to pass the time. The folks who keep the Inn running, including the owner, the Mayor of Moab, were all amazing - helpful, warm and able! There is a washer, dryer and even soap available for guests as well as a microwave and toaster in the pantry. Lemon water, hot water and coffee were available for most of the day, and the rooms are equipped with keurigs, pods and coffee fixings. I saved the best for last…THE BREAKFASTS!!!! One places their breakfast order via phone app (nothing to download) by 9pm each day specifying time desired. The breakfasts are prepared in adorable mason jars and placed in labeled baskets in the refrigerator in the pantry, so you can fetch them whenever. We would eat a light breakfast of our own snacks before heading out to the parks at 7am, and gorge on the sumptuous feasts as lunch upon our return. The choices were all delicious - frittatas, Greek yogurt with homemade granola, fresh baked scones, everything bagels with lox, capers and onions, OJ…and each day (wait for it), you get to select THREE items!!! We were stuffed until dinner!!! Also hanging on our door when we returned from our daily expeditions, were fresh baked cookies. Yum! The Innkeeper thinks of everything! There is a small store selling sunscreen, tee shirts, etc. and umbrellas and walking sticks to borrow as well. Though the Inn may be pricier than some of the other motels in Moab, it is well worth the splurge! Don’t miss out!!

For this retired hotelier, hotel stays stir up those old urges to inspect, so we choose B ‘n Bs or inns whenever we can so that I relax. Among the scores of B ‘n Bs we’ve experienced, Sunflower Hill is unparalleled – the finest ever. What makes it so? They show in many small ways that they empathize with and focus on the needs and wants of their guests. They understand you. Small touches tell the tale: high quality TP, waste baskets and tissues in each room, plenty of wooden hangers, great magnifying mirror, two charging base stations, etc. The rooms are fully furnished and tastefully appointed with an excellent bed, desk and good lighting throughout. They have a kitchen garden and groundskeeper, a chef who prepares wonderful choices of breakfasts, and four attentive innkeepers. They have solved the breakfast social separation challenge by using tech: you select and pre-order tomorrow’s breakfast via your phone; pick up in the pantry a prepacked, personalized basket of your selections with cloth napkin, cloth placemat and tableware (no plastic); choose to eat back in your room, in the dining room, or on the shaded patio, or take it with you to a trailhead. And have a flawless and delightful day.

What a wonderful stay we had! Sunflower Hill is such an oasis - beautiful inn, beautiful gardens, lovely pool. We had been traveling for 3 weeks and this was at the end of our trip. It was also our favorite place to stay. We were here for 3 nights. So much care was taken with the Covid precautions and yet we still had wonderful breakfasts, including the day we took a bag breakfast so that we could watch the sunrise. They were also very attentive when we needed anything (extra towels, for example) and delivered quickly. We were in the Apple Cellar and despite the fact that it sounds like the basement room, it was perfect. We had our own entrance, the room was pretty, and the shower was great! We visited Arches and Canyonlands with this as our base and it worked well. I can't say enough about Sunflower Hill. Don't hesitate to book here!

We stayed at Sunflower Hill for 6 nights in June. When I tried to book online there was no availability for all 6 nights, so I called to see if they had any options to accommodate us. As it turns out we were able to stay 4 nights in the French room and 2 nights in the Arbor room. Each of the Inn’s rooms are unique in size and decor. The French room had a queen bed, seating for relaxing, large double vanity sink, separate tub and shower. It is furnished with traditional style furniture ( maybe antiques) and was very spacious. The mattress was very comfortable in this and the Arbor room. It turns out that all of the mattresses are the same throughout the Inn. The Arbor room was in the other building and was right next to the beautiful gardens and the pool. It was furnished with a fresh cottage style, queen bed, and a loveseat. Though smaller than the French room, it was spacious enough with plenty of room for spreading out and for luggage. Free laundry, which we used. There is a large, comfortable seating area with games and books located in the Cottage. Breakfast is selected online the night before (COVID friendly) and you select the time of delivery to the pantry fridge. This was convenient for early bird hikers to grab and go. Inn is located 2 blocks off the main street of hotels, shops and restaurants, but still within easy walking distance.
This is a perk and makes it truly an Oasis. The grounds are lovely and peaceful. Pool is cool for refreshing dip in the heat of mid day.
Emily, the owner and innkeeper, was lovely and attentive and open to all our questions about the area. I hated to leave and would definitely stay here when we return in the future.

Our three night stay at Sunflower Hill was amazing from start to finish. I cannot recommend this cute, cozy Bed and Breakfast enough. It is well worth every penny. Especially during COVID-19, the innkeeper made everyone feel super safe. I would say your experience is in no way or form compromised by the additional safety measures that we greatly appreciated. We loved the fantastic breakfast you get delivered every morning to your doorstep and the variety was just perfect for us. Freshly made breakfast burritos, eggs, muffins, fresh fruit, homemade granola,.... just delicious!! There were also homemade cookies every day- delicious as well!! We stayed in the smallest rooms (The Arbor) and it was honestly so big in my opinion (especially compared to European hotel rooms). We had two large suitcases, one small suitcase and three backpacks and there was plenty of room for all of that to be stored and accessed without being in our way. The room‘s best feature is that it has its own entry directly from the garden which is 100% convenient. If we come back we will definitely book the room again. That being said, other guest were also telling us how beautiful and huge their rooms were, so I think you cannot go wrong with any of the rooms. There is a barbecue and a fridge you can use and endless lounge and seating areas all around the back yard which we used for breakfast, lunch, and a sundowner. Really, plenty of space for social distancing. We used the laundry as well, which is super convenient if you are on a longer trip.
Driving distance to Arches is 10 minutes, 40 minutes to Canyonlands. You can easily walk to plenty of dinner options. Perfect location!!

The Innkeeper's description of the property is accurate; see it for details. We walked to all dining, excursions, shopping and sightseeing in Moab. The inn is extremely quiet. Room descriptions are accurate (though the Loft room has a step out balcony, not one for sitting). There is a "pantry" with a large refrigerator, toaster oven and microwave. Ice is always available, and other useful items like plates, wine and drinking glasses, plastic baggies and silverware are always available. There are several outdoor places to sit and enjoy the weather and quiet: a barbecue area with grill, covered patio (great for a glass of wine), open patio with a fire pit, a secluded sitting area with wind-breaking drapes, and a pool. There is a large living room with games and resources about attractions in the area with a fireplace that would be great in the colder months. Requests we made during our five night stay were met quickly and cheerfully. The chain hotels may be cheaper, but most of them are on the main highway (Hwy 191; lots of truck traffic) that runs through downtown.

A beautiful spot, I'm sure, in season, (early March, and not much in bloom) and close to downtown. An easy, ten minute walk gets to many restaurants, and with the menu guide in our room, we found just what we wanted close by. The property lays out very well in the age of Covid, with multiple spots to gather separately, indoors and out. A nice pool area, complete with a hot tub is available, with outdoor tables nicely arranged close by. The food, although cold, was very delicious, and well presented. Our major complaint would be the lack of a personal greeting at check in. An envelope was clipped to the front door of the Inn with our room key and information. The staff we met were just great!

For our first outing after returning to the USA & settling in Utah...a state with 5 national parks; "The Mighty Five, we selected Arches National Park located a few minutes outside of the small town of Moab. Through word of mouth, Sunflower Hill was suggested and we booked two rooms as we were traveling with friends. There are a lot of options in Moab, many name hotel/motel chains, but we were relieved to find this peaceful "oasis" just a few blocks from the busy main street. At this time of year life in Moab is crowded, hot and dusty but Sunflower Hill Inn was shaded and quiet with lovely sunflower filled gardens. At a B&B you expect personal touches and warm welcome and Emily along with her staff did everything possible to ensure both. Our rooms were comfortably cool and all of us slept well. Charging stations were plentiful and WiFi service excellent. There is a lovely, quiet pool surrounded by the gardens and several seating options for reading and relaxing or enjoying breakfast. Did I mention the breakfast? Delicious and inventive...with changes implemented due to pandemic restrictions which we are happy that Emily has continued. Breakfast is ordered the night before with options for GF & Vegan. Yogurt, homemade granola, frittata, scones, and many more choices all served at a time of your choice in a basket for easy transport to a table in the garden or in one of the dining areas in the Inn. Be sure to order the White Rim cookie! You may pay a bit extra to stay at Sunflower Hill Inn, but if personal service and relaxation important to you after a long day of hiking and exploring the beauty and excitement of the surrounding setting, you won't be disappointed.

Just spent two nights at the Sunflower Inn, wish we were there a bit longer. We booked last minute and ended up in the Garden room. It is perfect. Along a quiet corridor in the ranch house it is very secluded. We felt like we had the place all to ourselves. Due to Covid the breakfasts were delivered to the rooms individually with an emphasis on safety and separation from other guests. We felt very at ease with the entire set up. Enjoyed the gorgeous gardens and the pool immensely. Easy walk into town for meals or activities. Plus the little touches (tasty cookie bags left on your doorknob) and recommendations for all that is Moab. Would book here again in an instant. Thanks for such a relaxing stay.

Does the Summer House have Air Conditioning?
Answer from Gregg S
moab, utah1 contribution
Thanks for the question. Yes, each of our rooms have separate air conditioning units. Some rooms have central air units with individual vents (these are the quietest), others, such as the Summer House have a wall mounted unit (Mitsubishi heat pump system). It is located in the larger main room and has a control that regulates the fan speed and temperature. The bedroom, which is separate, does not have it's own unit, but it has a window that opens allowing for air flow to provide cooling in that room as well.
