I read many reviews and looked at photos before booking here because I am not a huge fan of corporate hotels and everyone really seemed to love this place. It had the highest reviews out of any hotel in the Greeneville area and pretty much even Johnson City. The photos on the website are a little misleading. I booked a king room which was VERY small, the bed taking up most of the room with a very small flatscreen TV. It wasn't a "hotel room" it was more like a "bedroom". The free Wi-Fi would cut-out and disconnect every few minutes. The hotel hallways and rooms were MUSTY smelling, the furnishings were a little worn out and while I understand trying to look very "period" and historic, its obvious by looking at the door and bathroom fixtures the last time there was a "renovation" was in the 1980's. Heavy dust in the corners of the carpet near the walls and an extremely loud AC vent in the ceiling facing the bed above the TV. It is hot in the summer and was around 90F outside/humid and the room was at 74F when I checked in. I turned it down to 68F and left for a few hours. When we came back, the room was still at 74 with the AC vent blasting. Went to bed and set it to 78 so the blower would shut off. The room heated quickly and would kick on the AC all night long. The blower fan was so loud it would wake us up when it kicked on. I threw my hands up and just set the temp back down to 72, but it never went below 74 all night. As stated, the bathroom was very 80's style tub/shower fixtures with one of those "heat lamps" instead of an exhaust fan. The tub spigot had a constant leak. I just didn't find the place comfortable or charming at all. Old downtown Greeneville is DEAD and depressing and so was the hotel. I had planned on taking my time and staying two nights but made a point to end up doing all of my business late into the evening, stayed one night and drove the 3 hours back to Chattanooga to stay at The Read House (a historic hotel that does it right). If I had another alternative available I would have cancelled my stay at the Morgan after looking at the room in person. This is not a $160 a night hotel (and it was EMPTY when I stayed here) this is a $70 a night hotel. The staff was awesome, but unless more $ is put into the rooms, the amenities offered in-room, the overall condition, quality, etc., the price to stay here is ridiculous.

Nice hotel in beautifully restored building in heart of town. Room was comfortable and spacious, although lighting could be improved (e.g. no bedside lamp on one side). Easy parking. Great coffee shop on site. (Did not eat in hotel). Good value for the night we stayed.

Historic hotel with such a friendly staff. The restaurant downstairs is great too. I was given a breakfast voucher for the coffee shop downstairs which had good breakfast sandwiches. I highly recommend staying here if you’re staying in Greeneville, TN.
